This song is special for a lot of us who grew up listening to Tobymac because this song is about the passing of his oldest son who was featured on every one of his solo albums for the last 20 years. Thanks for the positive review

TobyMac is a Christian pop/rap artist. But he writes a lot of his stuff kind of likes the way skillet does. Were you don’t need to be Christian to enjoy it but that’s the message he pushes. He kind of started the Christian rap thing. His son who is this song is written about died back in 2019 from an accidental drug overdose. But he’s a super talented artist

Toby does every style of music these days. Rap, Rock, Funk, Soul, Reggae, Rap/Rock, Worship, Comedy tracks. He's been my favorite artist since 1992. He is phenomenal. Hopefully he will be like Skillet on this channel and played allot! That way you get to hear all his styles. Will be fun for sure! Thanks for the honest review. I cry whenever I hear this song cause Tru has been on all his albums until he died. Life is short.

I discovered his music officially when I was like 13-14 and he became my favorite artist since. I’m 22 now and remembered this song when I turned 21 and prayed for Toby in Tru’s memory. God truly has blessed us with Toby

Respect your score from a musical standpoint. Always a treat watching you. The reason why the music wasn’t flashy or upbeat it because it’s a song about his son who passed away. Loved and enjoyed your reaction as always! I’m happy to know that the rest of my songs are rock requests!

I appreciate your honesty in the style and your lack of hearing the lyrics. I’ve watched many favorite songs in many reactions of fave songs and they have pointed out what they heard that I never realized abd made more sense. I loved your reaction and that you didn’t constantly PAISE. And your honesty was real.

Hope you will continue to check out more TobyMac. Try Eye On It next. My daughter is a dancer and choreographer and she designed a clogging dance to that song. I would love to share your reaction to the song.

Hah! 1st! Don't know Toby Mac but I'm always up for something new. Hmm it's sorta rap, but very lyrical and melodic. Sad message, contrasting with the mellowness of the music. He's got a great voice, but very subtle. Before you notice you're digging his vocals, very sneaky. Divorced from the lyrics, that score makes sense. The song really depends on lyrics. Musically it's well, pretty good. I personally might have given him a bit more credit for vocal skill, but I can see that score.

Toby is a Christian rapper/singer look up some of his stuff he was also I. A Christian rap/rock group called DC talk
@ghfantexas68483 жыл бұрын
Toby came from the Christian band DC Talk. He was the white rapper and Michael Tate was the black rocker. I am not into rap or hip hop, so obviously I am more a Michael Tate fan. But Toby Mac has some really good crossover material. He can really sing as demonstrated in this song. So, I agree with 6.6 or 6.7.

Toby Mac! Ok ... had to get on and comment right away on this one. I personally love his music, so nice to see you react to this. It is not one of my favorites, because it is a sad song, talking about the death of his son. I think it's a great song, just not something that I normally listen to, because I prefer upbeat songs, music and lyrics ... part of the reason I like his other stuff way better. He is probably one of those most popular Christian artists, and I first heard him, around the same time I first heard Skillet (Hero). So he has been around for quite some time. And his music is mostly, funky, hip hop, pop with great up beats that you can dance to. If you listen to his lyrics, it always has a message. In this one he's talking about losing his son, and that he's with God now, but he still has him in his memories, and he will see him later. If you wanted to listen to more, which you probably are not really interested in lol, he's got tons of great songs, with millions of views to choose from. "Feel it" is a great jazzy song, and my personal favorite.

Yeah TobyMac is a Christian hip-hop artist, but he uses pop and rock elements, depending on the song. I see the song meaning has been explained to you already! Toby and Skillet are closely related artists! Jen was featured on a remix of one of his songs, and John was featured on a song in an older album.

Oh. Wow. Never expected this to be on this channel. I'm going to listen and then give my thoughts at the end-- only to say right of the bat, Nashville music-- especially Gospel/CCM community, in a lot of ways, are like family and so Truett's death hit us about as hard as anyone, but ok let's go to the vid. . . So right of the bat, one listening to this song must know this is Toby's dealing with / tribute to his son who died October 23, 2019 of fentanyl overdose. Break 1: Tobymac is hiphop, mostly. Him being formerly of DC Talk. Break 2: Tobymac had never been a singer, so much, but certainly good enough. Break 3: . . . Pre score: lyrically, this song is exactly what it says on the tin: Toby is speaking specially about Truett. So sure, musically it's not Toby's best work, musically, but the emotional weight more than makes up for it.

Lyrics are important.. whether you are good at writing them yourself or comprehending them..a song without lyrics is just music!! Take Bob Dylan…he wasn’t the greatest singer but his lyrics were AMAZING

Stay away from Christian music if you aren't into lyrics. The lyrical content of Christian music drives the musical performance. The music is supposed to enhance and punctuate the lyrics so the message being delivered has the greatest impact. Also, this particular song wasn't intended to highlight the artist's style, usual energy, or be an example of what you should expect from an average TobyMac track. This was a cathartic exercise to involve his fan base into how he was dealing with the grief relating to the loss of his son. Stripping it down by ignoring the lyrical value and the mood the music was purposefully engineered to augment is a bastardized review and, therefore, carries zero weight. You missed the mark on this one and proved your rating system misses major key elements in music. I hope all those who have gravitated to this song to help them get through similar situations ignore what you've said because these WORDS are more important.
