They are my favourite band but I am a bit bummed to see you react to 2 of their most poppy songs. I love Driver's High, its one of their classics, but never been too big of a fan of this song. However, L'Arc en Cie legitimately probably the only band thats this big but also so incredibly diverse. They have such a wide variety of styles. So, for something completely different from them, I highly reccomend the following: -As If In A Dream 2011 L'Anniversary live version -Kasou -fate -Dearest Love live 2018 I especially recommend As If In a A Dream 2011 live and Kasou. Trust me, they are one of the biggest, most legendary bands in asia for a reason. Not just because of their poppy stuff.

This song is the first ending for the very popular anime Rurouni Kenshin. That's how many of us older fans of Japanese music came to know about L'arc en Ciel in the late 90's.

L'Arc--en-Ciel songs in general tend to make you feel better and happier and this track is no different.

Please listen to As If In A Dream 2011 L'Anniversary live of them or their song "Kasou". You have only reacted to their poppy songs. They are one of the most influental and legendary bands in Asia for a reason.

The trick to L'arc songs is watching the live versions where they modernised tracks

The Fourth Avenue Cafe is a song made for an anime, is obviously poppy. L'arc en Ciel has a very long discography with a variety of genres. I recommend you something more like "Taste of Love" or "Shinjitsu to Gensou to". I mean, I could recommend you many songs cuz they are my favourite band but sghayugs I guess those can showcase their habilities much better than this song.

I'm actually pretty surprised you ended up finding some enjoyment in this track. Given your strict tastes, I figured you'd probably end up hating it, especially after not being too into that last L'Arc-en-Ciel song you checked out. But it seems like you were able to appreciate it by claiming it's "cheesy," which makes sense coming from your perspective. Me, on the other hand, I'm a big fan of "The Fourth Avenue Café." I have to vehemently disagree with you on calling it "cheesy." I definitely don't see it as cheesy at all. I think it's a really well-crafted and compelling piece of music especially with its lyrics. I've got pretty eclectic and wide-ranging tastes when it comes to music, so I don't look down on other genres and styles the way that unfortunately a lot of folks in the Western Hard Rock and Metal world tend to do. In fact, I first heard this song back when it was used in the end credits of the 90s Rurouni Kenshin anime series, and I was hooked from the very first time I heard it. The backstory behind this track is actually pretty fascinating. It was originally supposed to be released all the way back in 1997, right after the short version was featured in the Rurouni Kensin TV anime show. But then the drummer of L'Arc-en-Ciel ended up getting into some legal trouble over drug issues, and in Asian countries, they tend to come down way harder on drug related crimes compared to how it's handled in places like the US. So because of that, "The Fourth Avenue Café" got yanked from the Rurouni Kenshin end credits and got replaced by a song they were using before (which really upset me, actually). This put the full version in limbo for almost 10 years! No joke. The complete track was supposed to come out in '97, but it was shelved and didn't get a release until the mid-2000s! This track's had a wild ride. Anyway, the fact that even you admitted, with your caveats, that this is well done definitely speaks to the quality of the track. If you ask me, I'd call it a fantastic song. No cheesiness here. It's just a really well-made, high-quality tune, plain and simple.

haha, yeah this is definitely one of their lighter, poppy-er and more frothy songs - but I didn't expect it to crack you up so much 😂 I think the Vegas showtunes flashbacks are more on you than the band to be honest lol. Looking forward to when we get onto some darker stuff like Inner Core, Ibara no Namida, Shi no Hai, Taste of Love, Loreley, Kasou, Finale etc.

Haha I'm glad you enjoyed it. I thought I gave you a live link, but I guess I did not. :D It's not in your usual comfort zone so I'm just glad you enjoyed it for what it is. :D

Since you're a fan of metal, I wonder why people suggesting you to react to their pop rock materials. They do have some music that a bit heavier, like "Shinsoku no Lose Control" which was used for Godzilla (1999 Hollywood movie) promotion song for Japan/Asian market. Then "Get out from the shell", used as promotional song by Toyota on several Asia markets, which has a bit of techno / nu metal flavor in it. Other songs that have unique feel to it: "Forbidden Lover" and "Daybreak's Bell" They are a major label band, most of their songs are tailored toward the market. So, most of their songs have this poppy feels.

Daybreak's bell is great. Forbidden Lover there's no word to describe how perfect that is, but might be too slow for Metal fans.

David seems to know very well what He is talking about.. I know nothing about music concepts, but I consider LarcEnCiel above too many rock bands in terms of everything. Also Hyde, Tetsu, Yukihiro and Ken are able to perform crazily better during live concerts.

Thank you for the reaction. I think the song doesn't express their justice. Honestly Larc en ciel is the first Asian artist to give an independent concert at Madison Square Garden in 2012. The live version of their song Ready Steady Go was awesome👏 kzbin.info/www/bejne/fKPNoKR6Ysathsksi=z_qLxN-fmLD1ZStT
