Gaga has this ability to just blend with everything she wants to do. Pop, Electronic, Jazz, Rock/Metal, country, Ballad, you name it. It’s not just production and instrumental change but her voice changes with every genre too and it’s rare for a modern artist to have that real ability when everything can be manipulated inside a recording studio nowadays.

I cannot think of a female vocalist (singing, performance, attitude, sheer personality) who can go toe to toe with Metallica and make it fire like this.. What a song!! She became the focal point of the song... she is magnetic.. and the obviously powerful sexuality of her performance is ridiculous..

Don't apologize for getting emotional David, only makes you human, you of all people should know how difficult it is to bring the message and music across to the audience from an artist point of view, Metallica and Gaga just did their ffin best and succeeded in this, you've just gone up a few point points in my respect for you. Keep up the good work brother 🤘

Phenomenal reaction. Absolutely on Wendy O. I don't listen to Gaga often but I habe enough to see and hear her talent. From Tony Bennett to James Hetfield she studies her craft and masters the genre. She is also a true performamce artist so I would not be surprised is she has studied Wendy O Williams amd channeled her intentionally.
@inma56652 жыл бұрын
i wouldn't be surprised either, whether it was intentional or she did it unconsciously, but she's for sure aware of Wendy O. and i know it because before she became famous she used to perform a lot in the underground punk scene of New York, she even managed to perform at the CBGB just before they closed the venue, the cradle of so many legendary punk bands, Wendy O. and Plasmatics were quite popular and revered there.

I watch it every now and then. The audience looks like I did back then :) but I know what you mean and why you choke up watching it. It's like Gaga is a slightly more refined version. But not as intense to as Wendy was, but the same vib. Well, now back to the video reaction!

Oh f*ck yeah! Lady Gaga sings metal! I love her voice but I'm not fond of pop. I wish she'd switch genres. Gaga is killing it here. Thank you for doing this! New respect for Lady Gaga. I feel the same towards her as I felt for her character in A Star is Born. Raw talent, endless potential, and shoehorned into the meaningless garbage that lots of new pop is. Gaga can do anything she wants to and it's nice to see her expanding her repertoire here. I'm not as much into Metallica any more. They've mellowed a bit, and some of the things they've done over the years have soured me toward them. They really sounded good here. Your score was totally appropriate. Another fantastic reaction. Thank you!
@sp0ngeb00b72 жыл бұрын
Gaga hasn't released pop in nearly 10 years, her last album was a full dance album, and her music has never truly conformed to whatever current sounds pop has been about anyways. At the peak of Drake era she released Joanne, a folk pop, singer songwriter, Elton John/Heart inspired album with a country dance song about John Wayne. Her older stuff is literally littered with industrial influence and the aesthetics are incredibly metal and shock rock, I mean, the meat dress is quite so the most metal thing to ever set foot on the MTV red carpet. The "Judas" music video with that thumping bass and Norman Reedus cameo speaks for itself. No one is forcing you to like "mainstream" artists, but, lumping them all in the same category is akin to a non-metal listener grouping Death, Metallica, and what they describe as "screamo music", so quite the hypocritical move. Old pop was just as" meaningless" and "garbage". And besides all of that, she has indeed been doing what she wants since forever, and her work with Tony Bennett for the better part of a decade now is solid proof of that.

wow, amazing reaction, and i agree, she really added to the song a lot, i actually didn't like it that much until they sung it with Lady Gaga. This is an unpopular opinion, but i like the broadcasted version much more than the rehearsal, with all and its flaws and the technical difficulties, James's micro was turned off, but that allowed them to go in a different direction with the performance, they channelled an anger at the end that wasn't there in the rehearsal, Gaga made a key change as she shared the micro in the final chorus in full adrenaline maybe because the grammys screw them up, it felt really cathartic, that's the unpredictability that i love about live performances, and how the performers manage to deal with difficulties, keep going and transform it into a different thing and even make it part to the performance itself, just incredible, they're pros!!! About gaga's sexuality and how it feels empowering that just so true, and not only singing metal, but that's what i feel when i watch her as a person, she rejects all conceptions of what a woman should look like or behave and she just goes by her own terms not giving a fuck about what everyone else would think, it's her attitude, she's a true rock star, and one of the few real and genuine people in the modern pop music, i yearn she releases her rock album soon, because she has the heart and the right sensibilities for rock and metal.

Wendy surely got some of the same style the Lady used here, good pick up David!! i dont think she tryed to copy her, or even know her, i could be wrong, but i think she just wanted to make hetself looking badass in this performance, and somehow hit same style.. there is a clip to ive seen where LG is saying, what if i jump here, what if i do like this, and Metallica just goes, yeah, looks badass.. lol.Metallica was more just doing there stuff, that is cool to, they let the lady shine.. Mouth to flames is proberly my favorite track from Harwired to selfdestruct album, this song is fast pace in the good way, really got a nice drive, and good sounding guitars, loving it, and its the Metallica song on my headphone playlist at moment. Lady Gaga kicked ass in this performance, first time i watched this video i was also really wow, the lady surely kicked ass, and doing it my one of my favorite newer metallica songs, gives it a bit extra right, great performance!! idk what the roght score for this is, but above a 9, and under a 10 surely.. so 9,3 might be a very fitting score yes..

One fun fact, the first live version of that video(still on KZbin) James microphone malfunction towards the end and Gaga use her mic so James could sing, witch lead to the 2 of them using one mic. Afterwards, James was furious about the technical issue so they reshoot the entire song a second time, which is the version you review.

So I think the point for this video is of course Lady Gaga. Well, what I don't like so much is how she moves, I don't know why, maybe some mouvement is still a little too poppy or not so metal...but who cares, she sounds amazing, like a real metal singer, I mean a really good one.
