The song is about an emergency worker, possibly a firefighter, responding to the World Trade Centre attacks, he's trapped and dying hence the scene at The Garden Of A Thousand Sighs, a very powerful song and performance

A couple of weeks after 9/11 Bruce was stopped at a light and the driver next to him yelled out "we need you man". Bruce then did The Rising Album as his glorious response.

Great analysis of one of Bruce's best songs. I love how you explain the structure and the dynamic. This is what sets you apart from other music reactors :) As upbeat as this song is, like a lot of Bruce's greatest songs, the lyrical content does not match the upbeat sound of the song. This is Bruce's tribute to the firefighters on 9/11 ascending up the stairs of the twin towers, and it has a very spiritual theme to it. Good thing this is one of Bruce's best songs since you have to hear this another two times! JFK, if you're reading this, I know its a great song. But there's a lot of other great Bruce songs that David has not reacted to yet. I along with others have been hoping for Dave to react to Youngstown from New York 2000. It will be interesting to see the other versions JFK has requested. Oh, and the woman who comes to sing with Bruce and Steve Van Zandt (Silvio Dante from The Sopranos, by the way), is Bruce's wife, Patti Scialfa! Thanks for another great reaction Dave! :)

The guitarist that had his foot up is Nils Lofgren. He is very athletic and a former gymnast. He used to do backflips on stage while playing the guitar so playing on one leg is not difficult for him!

Great reaction and review as always. I know you are not a lyrics guy but due to the content of why Bruce wrote the song right after 9/11 the lyrics really are an important piece. Not saying it would change the score. I think the score was pretty accurate. But i think since you have to do it 2 more times it could give you a different perspective next listen. Great job as always. Stay awesome

The “guitar guy” playing slide is Nils Lofgren, the lead guitarist is “Little Steven” Van Zandt (aka Silvio Dante of The Sopranos TV show fame asw well) and the red-head female is Patti Scialfa (Bruce’s wife); they’re all solo-artists in their own right. I know you weren’t a Springsteen fan before, but you’ve reviewed enough of their music by this time to start learning more of the band’s names. Hope this helped you out. I know you know Max and Clarence….not sure if you know Roy Bittan is the pianist, Danny Federici, RIP, was the keyboardist, and Gary Tallent is the bassist. I enjoy your channel a great deal, and understand your rating system well enough to usually guess within .3 of your scores….for the record, I guessed this one in the mark today.

Another great reaction and analysis. With the Tatiana now a refugee in the US and the rest of the band organizing aid and fighting in Kyiv, please react to "Home Back" (OMV). It shows what the band and their families are struggling through at this moment. 💙💛🌻

I've been to many E Street shows. Nils doesn't have a stool, block, or monitor. It's all balance. He is a former gymnast too.

And FWIW Nils is the best guitar player in the band.. Bruce is a distant second.

The other guitarist is Nils Lofgren, who has been playing with both Bruce, and Neil Young for decades! Fabulous guitarist!

Greetings again!! Again, a song so close to my heart, I've told people how it's my personal anthem now!!! Not much more to add, the comment section is covering it just fine!! Much love to the Mighty Max, but, don't forget Mr. Garry W. Tallent on bass for keeping it real!! If you ever branch out to doing interviews, Mr. Tallent ( yes, his real name) would be a place to start. Digging the Motorhead TShirt, ran across them doing Bowie's "Heroes" on the You Tubes, must see TV!

For Bruce, you have to do Rosalita Come Out Tonight (from really any concert), Ramrod (from Barcelona 2002), Waiting On a Sunny Day (from really any concert), Sherry Darling (from the No Nukes Concert), New York City Serenade (from Rome), Born in the U.S.A. (From Madison Square Garden 2000), (Your Love Keeps Lifting Me) Higher and Higher (From the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame 25th anniversary) Kitty's Back (From Perth 2014), and Spirit In the Night (from Rio Lisboa 2016). All amazing!

Compare jungleland from the 70s to the 2000s or Tom Marlow ghost of Tom Jode to Nils Lofgrens versions, the version at state collage where you get 2 camera angles, one mounted on his guitar. . Where is the Youngstown solo.. how about no surrender with Brian falllon and then with Eddie veder, ,
