Debt becomes worthless.
@giridharkrishna526313 сағат бұрын
Servicing larger interest payments on accumulated debt and high deficits leads to larger issuance of T bills which markets may not be able to absorb and can lead to unsustainable interest rates and even a failed auction. Also increase in interest rates could trigger more defaults in corporate bond markets and can devastate the banking industry. At the same time, there is de-dollarization internationally where many sovereign funds are parking excess cash in gold and awaiting from dollar! A perfect storm brewing in the backdrop of elevated stock market!

It's a bit annoying and unfortunate. When i was born, the national debt was $2,150 per person. Now it's over $100,000 per person. And I'm not even that old. It's truly alarming and best advice get out of debt, make regular investments and be debt free and financially stable.

Safest approach i feel to go about it is to diversify investments. By spreading investments across different asset classes, like bonds, real estate, and international stocks, they can reduce the impact of a market meltdown. its important to seek the guidance of an expert

Predicting inflation starting to rise again this quarter while leading indicators showing economy slowing (not to mention governm*nt figures pumped up for the election). Global economy very weak which affects US. Fed dropping rates 0.50 shows they're VERY worried about financial downturn/crisis. interest rates coming down are also an indication banks are LESS willing to loan money into existence. The question here is where is the inflation going to come from in the near term? Consumers are mostly tapped out which is 70% of US economy (consumption). Yes inflation very likely to return but not before it continues to come down... Inflation can be a concern, but remember, certain assets like stocks and Crypto’s acts as a hedge. Long & short-term trading is generally safer, allowing investors to weather market volatility. I have managed to grow a nest egg of around 3.2 B'tc to a decent 27B'tc in the space of a few months... "Debt is unsustainable" - This has been said for a very long time. Major crisis was supposed to take place when debt reached 80%. Nothing happened. It crossed 100%, 110%, 120%.... so far nothing. It may happen next month, next year or next decade. The fact is that nobody knows when there will be crisis. This will probably go on until one day the bond market says "Enough is enough!" like what happened in UK and Liz Truss was out in 45 days

The problem with ALL government departments at ALL levels of government has many facets. Firstly funding is seen as "other people's money" so nobody cares about wastage and efficiency. How many times have you heard about government departments blowing vast sums at the end of the financial year just so next years budget doesn't get cut. The other problem is the culture of process first, common sense and practicality second. I know this sounds crazy but one solution is to make it more like a commercial like structure where the "God pod" of each department gets bonuses for driving efficiency and productivity with sweeping powers to staff based on need.

Why this question never asked to this well educated and powerful people like Mrs Sheila Bair? My second question is: Is the money or the bond comes first? Does the bond create the money or the Money printed first buy the bond? It's quite silly to think that the Federal Reserve is not manhandled by the federal government even if just indirectly. That is to say, the federal government is the largest user of money and debt, and so when the Federal Reserve tries to keep the money supply in his place where it stabilizes jobs and interest rates, it's going to be basically responding to the debt needs of the federal government. The federal government doesn't need to order them to do anything, they just spend and that spending is what demands the Fed respond to their mandate.

Also her opinion on "If you were a wizard in your book, what would you do" is very interesting to me. Instead of developing a solution she essentially said to do nothing and maintain the status quo which is exactly right. 100%. if you address the rising debt then you enter a period of deflation. prices go down and demand skyrockets. then supply is gone and you enter a recession. With this kind of economy, sheila is spot on. Do nothing. I, david, pose that the system itself must change and that is why sheila gave the answer she does which is to maintain the status quo.

Thank you for your videos... The US economy faces ongoing challenges with high inflation and tightening credit, and though a full recession is uncertain, the risk is palpable. Rate cuts, while aimed at spurring growth, come with inflationary risks, and banks are restricting consumer and corporate lending, potentially leading to deflation in asset prices. Stock markets are volatile, layoffs are increasing, and a rising unemployment rate could signal a more entrenched economic slowdown. Retail and housing sales are expected to decline further as consumer spending cools. Though certain assets like stocks and cryptocurrencies may act as hedges, they remain vulnerable to market swings, making cautious, diversified strategies essential. Through a combination of long- and short-term trading, I’ve grown my portfolio from 130k to 532k, thanks in large part to the expertise of Milton Harper, whose deep market insights have been invaluable in navigating these unpredictable financial times...

Given how important Ms. Bair considers the interest rate on Treasuries---why didn't she tell the audience about the actions of Janet Yellen with regard to the sales [funding US govt] of Treasuries during her term? No treasury sec't in history has funded the gov't with so much short term debt. The next treasury sec't will have to sell a great deal of long term treasuries [5-10-30] in order to achieve the necessary balance which will drive up rates for those notes and bonds. That will give her and her friends [fellow Harris voters] the excuse to "scream" about the Republican's budget deficits. I didn't see any tears in her eyes about the Biden/Harris historic budget deficits that made her fellow democrats much richer and 60% of the US population living paycheck to paycheck!!!

David, Can you please ask all these people, if they think fed is increasing liquidity while adjusting interest rates? As per Michael Howell, interest rates don't matter post GFC. It's always a refinancing crisis of $350T of debt we have in the world. As per him we need $70T to refinance debt every year. Hence fed is going to keep liquidity up while playing games with interest rates.

The federal civilian workforce as a percentage of the total population was higher in 1985 (0.9%), in the middle of Reagan’s presidency, than it is now (0.8%). The notion that you can fire government workers and make a dent in the country’s fiscal trajectory is absurd. She is right that you should look at some of the fat cats outside of government who benefit the most from government spending. Perhaps we should start with Musk, the new efficiency tsar whose monopolies have sucked in an estimated $20 billion in federal subsidies, defense contracts, and green tax credits while he’s been pretending to be a champion of individual liberties and free markets.

You see more robust growth when interest rates are at more normal levels because interest rates are set by looking in the rearview mirror. That is to say interest rates are set after the growth has begun. The interest rates don't create the growth as much as the growth creates the interest rates. Yes, the interest rates go down when the growth is not good because they're trying to stimulate the growth but the second that the growth begins to manifest itself, they begin their process of normalizing rates. So the rates by definition follow the growth and the rates go down when the growth goes down. So of course it's going to look as though low interest rates do not create growth, but you need to look at the growth let's say 6 months after the interest rates are lowered not at the time that the interest rates are low.

The only financial crisis is for those that are living pay check to pay check. The wealthy are not really affected by inflation or any cost increases.
