We’ve done OK but it protects a lot of the slather asses immensely. standing around around doing absolutely nothing getting paid and smiling knowing that you have union protection. My father in law is a lifelong conservative Christian and he said he wouldn’t vote for Jesus if he ran as a democrat and he’d vote for any republican even a convicted murderer before he’d vote for a democrat. And he’s a union teamster for over 30 years! I work with unions as a consultant and I never understood this BS “mob boss” argument. Do they have their problems yes but when you look at both public and private union plans, ranging from electricians, to plumbers, to teamster, to bricklayers, operating engineers, the vast majority of the union trustees and management trustees are hard working people who want their union members to succeed. Most of them tend to be pretty left wing cause they support CBA’s and better working conditions and higher wages and better healthcare. Even the conservative leaning members still generally support the union in more instances than not. I don’t understand why so many people focus on just a handful of high profile unions and their leadership there’s millions of people who have pensions and welfare benefits and life insurance etc. etc. through their union, and their spousal coverage as well. When you call him a “mob boss” it just seems very silly and frankly dumb. Even the meetings I’ve gone to where the union agrees to benefit cuts usually it’s because they’re trying to make sure long term sustainable provisions are in place or they are trying to fix previous mistakes. And not to mention union counterparts vs right to work areas have their pros and cons but in general the unions have more job security and overall better benefit packages. your answer is just so uninspiring and poorly thought out.

My husband has been a member of the Teamsters for 37 years. When Biden came into office with a Dem majority in the house, Speaker Pelosi brought legislation that restored the Teamsters pension fund and Pres Biden signed it. We now have a retirement we can survive on. Thank goodness for the Dems!
