We have a nine year old boston who we adopted at four months. He is brown and while and is the smartest dog we have every had. He loves the leash as it means a walk. Good luck, they all have their own worries and personalities.

Same with my Boston, Darwin too. He gets very excited when he sees the leash as he knows it's, "walk time"!

Awww such a cutie ❤ one of my Bostons hates the leash as well and also collar/harness. He gets excited about going on walks but as soon as the collar/harness/leash comes out he runs off

Lila is such a doll! So patient and such soft eyes into the camera. She would benefit from target training and body awareness.

Lila is a unique and precious girl. Not super jumpy like a lot of Bostons (hi Dexter). She always has a look I would describe as sweet. dignified and inquisitive. And the cutest little face.

Also I use a nylon martingale collar on both my Bostons because a flat collar comes off easily over their heads! I've had a few hairy moments where they escaped their collars so I use martingales for that 😅
@rosehuber19973 жыл бұрын
No wonder, initially we had our Boston's in this kind of collar and they hated their leashes too, then we got those very collars and they like those.

It took a long time to overcome Sailors head issues. You couldn’t touch his head. He would fight leashes and collars. Today after constant reassurance and stimulation he has settled down and accepts leashes and collars without issue.

I’m so glad, I’m not the only one.. Buster is my 4 th Boston and he is a year old now... he is the only one I did not raise as a pup, he came to us at 5 month ... He is a cute funny and full of spunk .. But hates hates the leash and collar, I’m so lost because he is so good but I cannot take him for a walk, he gets so overwhelmed when he sees the leash , I cannot even get him into the truck..
@chloedream89696 жыл бұрын
Ugh ! If he only knew what he is missing # fun walking , sniffing & new experiences ! "Best of luck to you & Buster"

Yeah very similar situation! Dexter came to me around 4 months but was so sick he wasn’t introduced to a leash until probably 5months old too... but never had an issue..

A little weird. My dogs learned to love the leash pretty quickly, it meant going somewhere. My lab would get annoyed at me for not putting it on fast enough.
@thedawghouse46746 жыл бұрын
Yeah totally weird to me too! We started her exactly like I’ve started every other dog/puppy I’ve owned/trained which is a lot lol... and she’s always been super awkward... so I started this different approach and it’s been the closest thing to success so far 🤷🏻♀️
@kmart13bear785 жыл бұрын
I never comment on KZbin videos ever but I have been binge watching your channel! I have a 6month old Boston terrier. And he is a whole new experience for me, we got our little dude for my dad (he is a veteran) after our other 2 dogs passed months apart from each other old age. I have been really struggling with our boston, my kids and i and my dad love him so much! Your channel and videos just are really helping me out that i can get him trained and he is not hopeless.

I'm so hesitant about using any type of collar on my boston terrier or brachycephalic dogs in general because they're so much more prone to proptosis.
@thedawghouse46746 жыл бұрын
Yeah that’s why I use Martin gale style for her because it applies pressure all around the neck and it’s not going to bother them.. unless of course the have an underlying issues. Mine don’t
@HARMARSCH26 жыл бұрын
Jessica, I never knew they made a Martingale Collar out of Chain. I love using the Martingale Collar whether they be made of nylon, or leather. I love how the Dog World adopted a Training tool from the Horse World. Lyla is so cute. Excellent video. 😀❤️

@TheStgmp446 жыл бұрын
I think you need to start a Poppy channel, she is so fearless and playful. I don't know what the dog laws are where you are, but all the dogs (GSD's) I have owned over the years just walked to heel without a lead. maybe you could teach Lila to do that, so she doesn't get scared, if that's an option.
@thedawghouse46746 жыл бұрын
Thank you! And I’m not sure what you mean lol... she is being taught to walk next to me without a leash first.. but out of the house she has to be on a leash per the law, and also I would never risk her getting hit by a car or sine other injury disaster.

You should always crate train. Being left out and chewing things WILL lead to an emergency vet visit one day and possibly death.

Bostons are often dogs of very few words. Does she ever make any noises? Has anyone possibly yelled at her for barking? That might make one even more reluctant to bark.

Lila is so adorable! Poppy is a developing camera hog, sitting down to have a bottom lick in the middle of Lila's training. It's hard to train cats. Kitties are hard to get to do anything, unless it is food. I do yell and move the cat out of places l don't want them to be. Sometimes l put them in the basement if l am cleaning with smelling stuff. Many cats can't be trained. But l find tuna will make a cat do many things. The cat is very independent, and if you can get a cat to do anything it's a victory. Good luck with Lila!!!🎃🎃🎃🎃💛💜💚💛💜💚💛💜💚💛💜💚🎃🎃🎃💛💜💚💛💜💚💛💜💚🎃🎃🎃🎃

Soooooo cute! Quick question, can it affect a dogs personality if it was rejected by its mom?
@thedawghouse46746 жыл бұрын
The affects would come from whether a human ended up raising them and how, but they would not have any recollection of being rejected. Doesn’t work like that with animals.
