I think that the hardest boss (I know this is the wrong ranking but this is because the community is coming) is Owl (Father). But first why not Isshin the Sword Saint. His first phase is pretty simple, deflect, attack to trigger the counter, deflect. And his posture is tiny so it is pretty simple to shred him. Phase 2 is by far the most difficult phase. Its just a matter of knowing when to attack and deflect. During his shooting, run around him and hit him once. During the charge up for the whirl, run around and hit him. The thing that makes this phase hard is his range. His spear can hit you from halfway across the arena. However, this spear also gives multiple mikiri counter attacks making it easier. After beating phase 2, it is very simple. If you don't know how to counter lightning you're screwed. However if you do, His health bar will disappear very swiftly. For his other attacks just dodge. I think Owl is the hardest due to his varying combos. Such as the firework, he can do a shadowrush, or he can slash basically, or he can throw a shuriken and then slash. If you miss a deflect, he will tear you're health to shreds. If you accidentally block vs deflect. You're posture will be gone in seconds. And then when you do run out of posture, he does a brutal attack on you. He makes sure if you accidently mess up a deflect you're screwed. Also if you miss one attack, he will usually release another while on the ground (i.e. the firework attack). He also has a massive health pool. In phase 2, you have to watch out for his owl. It may give you an easy mikiri. However, it is difficult when he teleports to it to locate the owl in time. That is why I think Owl is harder than any other boss.

Personally i complain about how easy sword saint isshin is cause people hype it to be like the greatest hardest boss ever when i beat his ass first try in about 5 minutes while wondering "is this really it???" I mean for fucks sake the fight against the spear dude with the general guy standing between reservoir idol and the isshin fight was harder than the fuckin sword saint fight!
@oshenone69475 жыл бұрын
@@zGamerGodz i honestly think the sword saint is the best boss in the game but definetly not the hardest. overhyped? Sure. But he deserves it its a great fight. I do think Owl father and Demon of hatred are waaaay harder.
@zGamerGodz5 жыл бұрын
Osh memes yes he is extremely overhyped which was meant to be my main point. But i do also feel him a bit lacking as the ultimately final boss and heres the reason i believe to be so: genichiro is something youve already beat 3-5 phases at that point even on your first playthrough (not to mention he seems to be a point a lot of people get stuck on forever anyways first time) so it ends up feeling a bit recycled. after that you get isshin phase 1 which is which is just you hitting him until he starts an attack which will be one of 3 different 2 hit combos or the dragon flash thingy with the shockwaves so pretty much the only thing that can cause you damage during this phase is the dragon flash attack and even that is relatively easy to deflect and can be avoided and counterattacked with 100% guarantee using the mist raven so that attack ends up being just free damage every time. The second phase is relatively cool at first but even that is still not even close in difficulty to most of the other bosses in the game and his moveset is pretty shallow so you get used to it really quickly and it gets really tedious with how much the boss moves around and how fast he recovers after his big attacks making the phase last forever ending up being much more boring than difficult. The third phase really shouldnt even be mentioned as the boss literally kills himself with lightning spam. Ofc thats just why in my opinion it was a bit dissapointing for a final fight, but then piled on top of that there was an incredible amount of people hyping and complaining about how hard he is which made me wanna speak my mind on this boss that i found to be not all that fun due to the only phase worth mentioning in this 4 phase fight being a relatively cool fight that loses its luster before you get done with it due to how slow it is. Ps. This turned into much more of a ramble/rant than i intended and im not a native speaker so it might be a bit hard to read at points Edit. Also i just realized that i was pretty much just shitting on the fight entirely. That wasnt my intention as i still think its a pretty good fight but just that it gets too much credit in a game where there are atleast 5 bosses that are both harder and more fun

Can't agree on your ranking of Lady Butterfly. The fact that a boss can be cheesed doesn't make that boss worse. Nearly every boss in every game ever has some cheap tactic that can melt them without much difficulty, but it's YOUR choice whether you use that tactic or do the fight legitimately. Lady Butterfly IS very much possible and really not that insanely difficult without exploiting her AI, and the result is an incredibly fun and intense fight that teaches you the mechanics and pace of the game very well.

For real, The lady butterfly fight is meant to teach you core mechanics. Its an easy fight if you play it properly. Consecutive deflecting to break posture, timed dodges to avoid grabs. Plus she is one of few fights you can take advantage of shuriken being more effective vs in air targets. Phase 2 isn't for her to jump you with a gang of mobs its to force you to give her space so she can regain posture, lengthening the fight and ensuring that if you are going to beat her you understand how to play.

I actually disagree to some extent. I am awful with countering spears and lances. Where as I could consistently get through genichiro and phase 1 sword saint without being hit by playing aggressively, I had to play more defensively on the spear phases because of how quick he was. Basically deflected a spear attack, attacked one time to chip health and then went back to deflects until I could get a thrust or sweep counter, hitting only once or twice per staggered deflect. When the lightning came into play, I just used the lighting against him, struck twice, and then did what I did in phase 2. Being aggressive is the fastest way, but I don't think it's always the best or more consistent

emmm, no. Isshin the Sword Saint chose to fight Sekiro not the other way around. From a story standpoint the conflict with Genichiro and the Dragon Heritage is resolved after Genichiro sacrificed himself. Genichiro achieved his goal(using an undying person to summon Sword Saint) and Sword Saint is fully capable of repelling the invasion single-handedly, Sekiro has no business in the invasion of Ashina so he has no obligation on stopping Sword Saint. Sekiro can literally just grab Kuro and be on his merry way if Isshin did not choose to fight Sekiro first

For me Lady Butterfly will always stay amongst the most memorable. I Played through Hirata Estate immediatly after getting the Bell and therefore she was the first real Challenge for me. A friend told me about the dodge-attack exploit but i didnt want to cheese my way through the First Boss So i spent 3,5h and about 60 lives on an afternoon getting my ass spanked by her because i was still used to dodging every attack just like in Dark Souls. But once i learned how to fight in Sekiros system ist was an epic Battle that didnt feel unfair and finally beating her after such a long time felt truly incredible. Looking back though i beat her in my Second playthrough in about 2 minutes because she really isnt that hard but she will always be the boss that introduced me to Sekiro and i will forever love her because of that. I suppose Ludex Gundyr is an easy comparison because just like with her he is more of a speed bump once you know how to deal with him.
@Aliens13375 жыл бұрын
Yeah Lady Butterfly taught me how to play Sekiro correctly. Deflect and go for posture dmg instead of dodge-attack-run pattern and chip away health like in Souls game. Defeating her is where the game clicks for a new player. Genichiro is also up there for the same reasons. He's a skill check to make sure you got the basics of the game down, deflect, mikiri, jumping over sweep, using prosthetics/combat arts... Their significance comes from teaching you how to play and enjoy the game properly. Cheesing them kinda defeats the purpose.
@kartikayysola5 жыл бұрын
I definitely think that makes a big difference too. My first time at Hirata Estate I got bodied by Juzou, so I left it for later. By the time I came back, I had about three or so prayer necklaces, six gourd seeds, and the Gyoubu memory, so Lady Butterfly ended up being quite manageable for me.

Same. Went after her the second I got access to Hirata Estate. Lady butterfly was the reason I put the game down a few months ago, and getting past her is the reason why I'm about to finish the game. The umbrella really hasn't gotten enough love. One of my favorite prosthetic attachments in the game, it is so extremely versitile and fun to use. Firecrackers are good aswell but I can get the same amount of damage off by opening the umbrella (counting as a deflect), then attacking after the get a minor delay stun that happens often. For the Demon of Hatred boss, the fire protection variation of the umbrella nullifies fire damage to the point where I can risk staying aggressive more often than I would be able to without it. I kinda only use 3 things in this game: Umbrella, the fire blaster, and firecrackers for specific beast enemies or occasional stun of course. Love your content @theDeModcracy lol keep it going
@anerophqq22305 жыл бұрын
Not to mention the umbrella is a huge help in the Sword Saint fight: you can just turtle behind it when he does his wind attacks and keep going. Helps in staying aggressive on him. Also, much better to have your posture broken by those wind attacks (since there is some delay between the wind moves and his next attack) than when he's mid combo.

I think mechanically Sword Saint is the best fromsoft boss. Probably one of the most difficult, but also 100% a completely fair fight. It also feels truly skill based. It took me around 125 tries to kill him on my first playthrough, but now on subsequent runs of the game I can now kill him more often than not. This isn't really the case for some of the other challenging, but less fair bosses in from games. I think the only thing that could have made the fight any better would be if the soundtrack for it was as good as stuff like Gwyn, or Ludwig, the Holy Blade. Really I felt like the soundtrack one of the only disappointing things about Sekiro in general. It's not bad, but all the other games have phenomenal soundtracks.

Just a note about the Guardian Ape rematch: I noticed (more so in my second play through) that generally when one ape is attacking the other is passive, and the only time attacks do come from both its timed in such a way that it feels more like a follow up to the other’s attack, or an extension of one long combo, rather than a bullshit stacking of two animations. I actually really liked this, because it’s the first time that From really put thought into throwing two large enemies against you and -at least to me- its incredibly fun. I also agree that because of this, the second phase is incredibly tedious, and all the time I spent on the boss before coming to that realization was beyond frustrating. Just my opinion though, and I’m more than willing to admit that I might be reading too far into a couple of lucky runs on the boss. Anyways, thanks for all the work you put into these videos, I’ve been looking forward to them ever since I completed my first run. You definitely didn’t disappoint.

@@jessicaberry5596 I actually don't disagree with either point you bring up. Sword saint Isshin is undoubtedly my favorite in the game and almost certainly the series (him and gael are fighting it out for my favorite and we all no how good Isshin is at fighting). The fact that you start by finally finishing of genichiro, who has acted as your rival and equal as well as main antagonist is great, whats better is that he is a warm up with one hell of a reveal for Isshin. You are then fighting a friend and mentor who is constantly described throughout the game as one of the best (if not the best) warrior in ashina's history. The fight is impeccable, making perfect use of every part of the games combat. I doubted if I could finish the game but I did finally manage it. My top 3 best bosses are 1. Owl father version 2. Sword saint 3. Lady Butterfly (as second boss fighting properly) Each of them took a long time to learn but so cool to finally take down.

Any time you see an "ou" in a Japanese name. It's just an O sound. Gyoubu, Juzou, Hadouken, etc. It's all O, like "dough" or "throw" It's a hard O, ALWAYS. Never a "ooo" sound. There's a letter U there because the O sound is slightly elongated. "Tanto" has a fast O sound at the end, while "Musou" would have a slightly longer O sound.

Maybe a difficulty ranking for all Soulsborne bosses and those from Sekiro?
@maciekx105 жыл бұрын
The only contenders for the top 5 spots not from Sekiro would be (in my opinion): Kos, Midir (although that is only because of his HP) and Sister Friede.
@Quodequat5 жыл бұрын
@@maciekx10 To be honest I don't think that the sekiro bosses are generally much harder than the soulsborne bosses. Like there was no boss where I spent much time because I found it too hard (Sword Saint Isshin took me a few tries tho, but I think laurence gave me more trouble my first playthrough if I remember correctly)
@Quodequat5 жыл бұрын
Also I spent some time on Friede on my first run, on my SL1 run however, the fight didn't take long at all.
@jiggaman1985 жыл бұрын
@@maciekx10 Friede, Kos, Laurence, Fume Knight harder than most Sekiro bosses imo. However, I feel like that might be different if you consider playing without charm and demon bell on as a "true" Sekiro playthrough.
@zaid_alhelu5 жыл бұрын
Sekiro is difficult in a different way. It is hard to compare. Sekiro bosses are tankier, deal more damage, require persistence, and more skill based, however once you beat any boss you could beat it everytime heck even isshin who I died to 100 times in my first playthrough, I can kill him first try now, can't say the same for gael or kos tho

I personally thought the divine dragon boss was pretty lame overall. Yes, it’s a beautiful boss in a beautiful setting, but the fight itself was SO underwhelming. I beat it first try and felt like I was barely trying. Granted, I fought the dragon right after spending a few days on Father Owl in Hirata and finally beating him, so going to the dragon after feeling that huge accomplishment was just a massive letdown. I just feel like they could’ve done WAY more with the divine dragon fight in the way of mechanics.
@wr54885 жыл бұрын
Absolutely, it looks cool but its so damn easy its almost wasted. First phase is lame, second phase falls far too easily. Its alright but... its just way too easy. Design is amazing! Fight is super easy and feels like a waste of a huge plot point.
@Revenu5 жыл бұрын
You can parry the divine dragons attacks. If you have the shinobi skill that allows you to deflect mid-air it makes the fight a lot easier, preventing you from getting hit while flying between trees.
@Apollo-xr8pf5 жыл бұрын
In case people didn’t already know, you can use the lilac shield on the guardian apes scream and have literally no terror build up from it, and if you have the combo art where you do a strike with the shield when you put it away it does a HUGE chunk of damage. Made it a bit easier for me. Even if you don’t it just means you don’t have to move backwards and can punish the attack a lot more efficiently.

Got to Ng+8 and got all achievements, I love this game and all bosses are some of the best From has done, and i feel the Souls games pale in comparison to this game when it comes to really knowing how to beat a boss, my first run took me exactly 40 hours where NG+ took 5, I felt like I had truly learnt how to beat the game, and Beating Isshin Sword Saint after a few tries now will never not be brilliantly satisfying. Best final boss From has done and maybe their best boss ever.

alex pulham Isshin, the Sword Saint is a good final boss battle, but on repeat playthroughs he's really easy. I beat him on my first playthrough in like 30 attempts, and now it took me 1. I feel like people don't realize how coordinated the two apes in the headless ape fight are. Lady butterfly is probably the hardest early game boss. It becomes easier once you learn the ninja star prosthetic to slap her down and get some hits in. That said a ninja is supposed to play dirty and be sneaky so if a boss can be "Cheesed" by gimmicks that is by design imo. Ninja were not known for their fighting prowess after all, they were known for being tricky little hobbits and running if they got caught most of the time. Of course abusing AI is a whole other thing though, you should never cheese a boss so heavily your first playthrough...

Note on Gyobu: Get the grapple attack early, and you can stun him for big damage when grappling during his big attack. It’s also very easy to trick his AI into using the same attack pattern through the entire second phase, which is easy to exploit
