There is a reason it's called African time. That's why here, when a time is given for an important event, they'll emphasize "please, no African time." Still, the event won't start at the given time and people won't still show up on time. This is why we are conditioned to assume when an event says 10:00am, we are expecting they mean 11:30am. So, if you have your event to hold by 12:00pm, it's safe to tell your African guests 11:00am or 11:30am 🇳🇬

I'm South African (Tswana). My mom apologizes. Always had. Not sure about my dad. He was very strict. Not abusive but strict and authoritative. African time is honestly a bad behaviour that we somehow normalise 🤣.Well my squad bill policy is that everyone pays their own bill unless if it's someone's birthday outing then we will all contribute to her bill. You are very generous Sisi but don't overdo it 😂. Dezemba is the greatest time and I never want to be anywhere else but at home in Limpopo plus it's my birthday month 💃. What makes a South African wedding unique is the vibe nje, the step and the fact that the whole village attends. In terms of the costs, everyone who works in the family chips in including cousins, well if you all get along. Our African parents do not apologise. We just get over it. My mom will just say "I forgot to tell you" and no sorry . Then she would send me airtime or money and then I know that's the sorry I get 🤣.
