The Pathisi story I grew with, is that this dance was imported from South African mines, the pads on the feed, were originally gum boots worm by the miners. Most men in Botswana in the early 1900' went over to South Africa to work the mines. They came back dancing pathisi.

Phathisi originated from bakwena. It may have its similarities with the gumboots dance but it was not exported from south Africa. It originated from Molepolole.

Phathisi/Borankana comes Bakwena in Botswana, Molepolole, Way back in the days young men would challenge each other and the winner would be given a Sheep. Sies, you must be ashamed of yourself claiming something you don't even understand, Nxe!!! Gumboots dance is not even an old dance, Just a mining dance influencing a whole traditional dance yerr!!
