I can vouch for the Tekton warranty. Albeit on only one item. I broke a chrome socket reducer trying to remove an oil gally pipe plug. I went on the website, submitted a photo, and literally two days later there was a new one in the mail box. I live in North Dakota by the way. Two days. Other than that, I haven't broken any of my Tekton stuff.

I only have one tekton socket set. Compared to other companies they were the only affordable brand selling FULL channel 12 points. Which I have found very useful. No catches and hang ups when taking fasteners out in odd ball places. People knock 12 point, but it is more versatile and saves a lot of hand pain and frustration when dealing with tight areas.

On the Tekton Ratchets, They have also done the 1/4" ratchet conversion to 3/8" (Slim head) like Koken. These are great for the 3/8 socket/ Torx/hex bits. If you have a spare 1/4 ratchet, you can order the 3/8 gear for it and make a swap. They also have a good assortment of Torx, E Torx, Hex and Triple square if you work on German car or Motorcycles.

I don't have a huge amount of Tekton but I do like what I have very much. Screw driver set, several impact socket sets, a couple of ratchets, a few pliers, a nice complete bit kit in a nice case and a few other odd & ends. No chrome sockets as I don't need any. When I do add tools, I now check them out first if I don't need it immediately. Thankfully I can't comment on warranty as I haven't needed it.

Jeff -- Thanks for the update on what's going on with Tekton. It's good to see a company with so many USA made tools doing well. Toward the end of the video, you compared several Tekton-made pliers with pliers made by other brands. This prompted a desire to see a comparison among the pliers sold by Harbor Freight. I'd like to expand/upgrade my pliers collection; and it would be helpful to know when its worth splurging on Icon, Doyle is more than good enough, Quinn will do, and whether you should ever buy Pittsburg. Please feel free to ignore this video suggestion. But, I'm sure it would go viral!

I've started getting their stuff this year, with the full-on 1/2in Impact Set and a set of their three-size Ratchets. They are phenomenally hefty and the ratchets mechanisms are buttery smooth. Showed them to my neighbor, who was a big mechanic in California back in the Golden Age who, while downsized, still has a garage full of old-school Cornwell, Snap-On, Made In USA Craftsman and Crescent, he's seen everything and he seems quite impressed with their stuff so far. As for their stuff thats so far made in America: Pretty much all of their Crowfoot Wrenches, all of their tool organizers, Deadblow Hammers, drivers, picks, prybars, Angled-Head Wrenches, chisels and punches, and a lot of their pliers. Probably more, but thats what I remember off the top of my head. Which, on that note, I applaud them simply for the fact they plainly state country of origin on their items, no matter where it's from. Thats so rare that honestly they should be elevated just for that alone. Considering how fairly priced they are (even though they have been raising their prices, it's still more than reasonable), non-stop talk of their stellar warranty, their plain and honest transparency, and most importantly their commitment to bringing back manufacturing to America, I'll definitely be getting more. They're good people.

I bought some (first time) tools from Tekton about 2 years ago: screw drivers and pliers sets. The smallest flat head chipped on me and I reached out to Tekton via website and within about a week, I had the replacement. My disappointment comes with the pliers, seems as though they have garnered surface rust just sitting in my tool box. Not something that all of my much older other named stuff does, but it does not render them useless.

I’ve also been a big fan of Tekton for the past 4 years now, I wanted to add some more information on the Rousseau boxes. Rousseau calls this range of boxes the ‘Model R’ box. On their site they have a configurator that allows you to spec out custom boxes including the specific height, width and depth, number of and size of drawers, drawer layout and then a multitude of other features like type of lock, one drawer at a time system, drawer dividers and so on. Rousseau also offers a fairly broad color pallet. It took me a while to find a distributor who would work up a quote for me but when I did I was surprised to find the pricing of the box I configured was several hundred $ less (including shipping and all taxes) than the most expensive Tekton box despite the fact that the box I configured is the same width but even taller, will be built to order, has the exact drawer sizes and layout I chose and the color I wanted. I will say a couple of advantages to the Tekton, residential lift gate shipping at no extra charge is a huge selling point, I will be getting mine delivered to work anyway so not a concern… also lead time on the custom Rousseau is 8-10 weeks, I don’t mind waiting but if I needed it sooner the Tektons are stocked and ready to go. The 2 things I wish we’d see from Tekton in the future: top chests and/or hutches for the boxes - I’m not sure what the likelihood of this is as Rousseau don’t seem to offer top chests, they do offer hutches but I believe they are serious $$$$, I plan to have my distributor quote a hutch for future reference. Secondly, I’d love to see more foam organizers be available for the sockets, wrenches and screwdrivers, I’m currently using their rebranded Ernst socket rails which I seem to have a love/hate relationship with depending on the day.

They are one of the very few tool companies left that are still doing things right. They don't require a purchase receipt. They don't care if you're the original owner or the 10th owner, and they dont care if you broke something by misusing it. You could've found it broken and rusted on the side of the road, and they will have you a new one in 2 or 3 days. That shows that they stand behind the tool itself, not just the original purchaser of the tool. I had a split beam torque wrench that had broken 2 years after I had purchased it. It had broken internally from me tossing it around, being careless, and dropping it too much at work. I made a warranty claim on their website, but you could not see the issue in the photograph because it was internal. I offered them a video if they wanted one, but they declined. They just took my word for it and I had a new split beam torque wrench at my door 2 days later. You couldn't even see how the item was broken in the photo because it was internally damaged. I just took a single photo of the torque wrench and told them the issue was internal. They warrantied it with no questions asked!! I can only think of about 2 or 3 tool companies who have a lifetime warranty on torque wrenches and only a handful of companies who will warranty a tool without proof of purchase. Tekton keeps growing and continues to innovate their product line. They are making more and more usa made tools and have a warranty that is 2nd to none. I buy tekton tools when I can and will continue to do so, and am happy to be a long time customer!!
@philiplemer444410 ай бұрын
I just thought I would throw out a correction for you. They’re split beam torque wrenches seem to be a lot better than the ones they had previously that were OEM from someone else the type that everybody was using at one point and they do have non-quick release ratchets.

Here's my Teckton story Somehow, I had a pair of their pliers in my toolbox but they had an issue with the nut that holds the 2 main pieces together. I had no idea about the warranty until I heard you talk about it on a video. I took pics, sent them in, and a few days later a brand new pair of pliers showed up at my house. No BS, no crying or trying to get out of it. Every since, these pliers are my absolute go to pliers. They are the 8 inch you showed in this video. When ever I have a job that I by G want to hold onto something, you know what I mean, these are the ones I hunt down in my shop and find. Every time. So, in the future, if I have a chance to buy this companies product, if it's reasonable.... well, it'll be a no brainer. Even over HF.

I ended up with Icons, instead (though I did get Tekton's 3/8" split beam torque wrench, which I love).

The grip features damage flat sides and are not acceptable to fine and expensive equipment like aircraft or other critical fasters.
@user-lg2jm9zg6l10 ай бұрын
@@chriscalderin6677 understood, that's why many manufacturers offer both options. Meanwhile, I'm not working on aircraft, I'm working on a vehicle that sees harsh winters.

About a year ago I was very interested in the extra long double box ratchet set. Out of stock for a long time. I did see them just recently and it changed from a 6 pt box to 12 pt . Idk... maybe I will get them

Their prices are insane now. Basic socket sets are over $300 now. I can't believe my eyes

I just bought a basic socket set from their website for close to $50... 3/8 drive 6 point impact in sae. You can't get more basic than that.

Those storage cases are huge and yet they don’t market them for whatever reason. That whole solution you mentioned is massively underrated, and no one else is making anything like it . Tons of mechanics would like a mobile solution, but all mobile solutions are geared more towards construction. Mechanics, or anybody with handtools is sort of an afterthought.

When they were being sold at Meijer, I tried to make a concerted effort to buy from them first before going to HF or the like. Managed to get a bunch of their stuff on clearance before Meijer switched to stocking Stanley only.

The crowfoot wrenches, angle wrenches, and hammers are all very reasonably priced for USA. Made tools. I’ve been happy with everything that I’ve ordered from them.

That was a really good video. I really like some of there tools. I would like to see you do a video on gearwrench tools. I would like to know what you think of gearwrench tools.

Baught a lot of their racheting wrenches at a substantial discount while they were discontinuing that line. Absolutlly love them.

I look for them. I have been pleased with the quality I get and more and more USA made products too.

I’m very tempted to get a couple individual larger size angle wrenches for hydraulic fittings. Combination wrenches work for the most part but you always seem to need the angled offset for clearance. And adjustable wrenches work well too… if you have the clearance which is getting less common on modern machines. Very tempted to pick up a few select size wrenches.

Their 6 point ratchet wrenches are every bit as good as my snap on set. The tekton sets I bought a few years ago were right around 100 bucks per set that’s a quarter the price of what I paid for my snap on sets.

They are now a little pricey compared to some of their competition. Additionally they're probably not giving away as many tools as Harbor Freight to KZbin creators, that's why you're not hearing much about them these days.

I absolutely love Tekton for chrome sockets too. Their impact sockets are ok, but they tend to be CR-V. I'd rather get Sunex for impact sockets, their usually CR-MO

They’ve released more tools than any other brand of their size, and the quality continues to climb. Almost all new products are USA made

I have paws on Tekton. Got some sockets a while back. The wrench really reminds me of a high end Craftsman. Whishing I would have bought them from Tekton directly to get the 10% cash back. Just purchased larger set of SAE and Metric ratcheting box end. Not used them yet. Seam really nice. Tekton sells rachets with out quick release now. I have not tried them. I like the quick release.

I ordered my 1/4 Dr set and it was missing a spinner handle. They replied to me within an hour saying they will send it out. Love Tekton.

When shopping for wrenches, I was bummed they reused so many blank sizes, especially the smaller sizes. Having a fat box side is not ideal, otherwise they look stellar. Their sockets are what I'm gonna get eventually.

In my opinion, if you're a DIYer without a tool truck coming to you regularly (or in some cases even if you are a pro with a SO, MAC, etc. dealer), Tekton is simply unbeatable because of their warranty and 10% cash back on their website orders. The tools are nice enough to where I imagine they're not constantly swamped with warranty claims, but it's the ease of use and rapid turnaround on their warranty that really makes the sale on their stuff vs other midrange tools. If you're someone who lives very close to a Harbor Freight, I might consider going with Icon because of that, but for most people a 2 day wait for a brand new tool after warranty claim is plenty fast.
