Congress was in power for almost 70 years and still couldn't resolve the Kashmir issue. While BJP's methods may be controversial, they have brought peace to the valley. Sometimes, it's better to achieve results through imperfect methods than to achieve nothing at all. As Mr. Mani Shankar said, 60% of the population rejected the BJP, but he overlooked the fact that 90% of the population has discarded the Congress. Instead of constantly criticizing the BJP, he should focus more on the revival of his own party.

Note that Aiyar says early on that Congress made a mistake in focusing on economic reforms because the middle class aren't voting for them. He has got the order wrong: The middle class don't vote for Congress BECAUSE it is against economic reforms. Also middle class of today were the poor of yesterday. Aiyar fails to realise that if Congress ka haath is really garib ke saath it should be helping them improve their circumstances and become middle class instead of treating the middle class as an enemy of Congress.
