Large publishers are even more so, IMO, because they don't need the payout. This isn't like the PS1 and Ps2 erra's where consoles all had varied internals and design environments. @@Sand_1995 - You said "The deal will never go through. The UK will never let it pass." I'm not a business expert but I don't believe that's the current situation my friend. Arm is a British company, therefore the UK can block acquisitions of British companies. However Microsoft and Activision are US companies and so there's nothing other countries like the UK can do to stop Microsoft buying Activision. Instead, the UK's CMA have raised concerns for further investigation, where it's unlikely their concerns will be justified but if they are then... the CMA will work with MS, Activision and Sony to come to an agreement that satisfies all involved for the UK market, while the rest of the world goes ahead as normal. That's my understanding, limited as it is in this area :-)

Exactly. Sony is making a mountain out of a mole hill and it's gonna erupt and burn them in the end. Realistically the deal couldn't harm their market share that much even if ALL Activision Blizzard properties became exclusive to Xbox consoles. PS as a platform would still probably dominate over Xbox in the console space and do so for years giving them plenty of time to compete and offer enough to keep most of their users happy. Even then most gamers would just play COD on PC or buy a series S and still game on PS. But now this is going to hurt the stability of their brand bad. They keep acting like it's the end of the world if the deal goes through. That's what's going to make their investors worry and falter when it does. That's what's going to make more gamers look at how much better they'll be treated as customers by Microsoft (in terms of services and value). That's what's making people question Sony's current dominance. Microsoft isn't doing it. Sony's making themselves look VERY fragile.

I don’t feel like enough emphasis is put on how good this deal would be to us as the actual gamers. Having all these Activision/Blizzard games in Game Pass day one for a low monthly price is a good thing for us. What Microsoft is trying to do with Game Pass is not appreciated enough imo. Once this deal goes through, and all the other big 1st party games start releasing into GP day one, it’s gonna be an incredible value to gamers. We’re the winners here. They’re gonna be adding huge AAA games into GP at a low monthly cost, and Sony is cock blocking 😤.

Or if Microsoft and Activision Blizzard themselves stop the deal because they think it's become too expensive/lengthy

The biggest wins would be the change in leadership. I feel like its been forgetton, but the workers just want change seeing Activision Blizzard as having predatory leadership (which is true) with movements to improve things being shut down and slow. Phil Spencer has expressed being more open in improving the work culture. It's honestly up in the air if he does improve things, but anything is better than them staying as is, which the current leadership will maintain. The biggest thing for gamers as well is the freeing up of the IP and devs. Phil Spencer has already expressed stopping the yearly COD games and wanting to revisit IP Activision Blizzard killed for COD. Honestly none of these games can go on Gamepass for all I care. They just NEED new leadership because Activision Blizzard as is is an empty shell

You would think with all of the studios that Sony owns that surely they could make their own Call of Duty style game which would go on to be a hit. They have the teams and the talent that are more than capable of being able to deliver a high quality FPS game. Why don't they look at reviving the killzone and resistance franchises and get one of their teams (with some support and input from Bungie) to work on an FPS.

Sony doesn't like to support multiplayer games. Every game from their past that had multiplayer capabilities it ends up closing the servers or losing player base due to lack of support. As a matter of fact! Even some of their single player exclusives look like games that should have been coop games. Ex: The Last of Us, God of War, and Uncharted. In those games you always have an NPC following you around. Why not make the game coop when there is a companion already in the story? Because they don't like to support and invest in multiplayer. Sony prefers to have another to take over the development and support burden of the game while Sony reaps the PS store sales revenue. They purchased Bungie to let Bungie continue to do whatever Bungie wants because Sony doesn't want to develop and support a multiplayer game of their own. They want Bungie to keep making Destiny content and get a piece of the revenue. It all seemed like smart business thinking until Microsoft came and took their biggest cash cow.

Final fantasy has been on Xbox for a decade up to that point. What about ff16? Spiderman games had been on Xbox for well over a decade before he made that exclusive as well. Xbox is buying the IP just like how Sony bought the licensing rights to spiderman and just how they paid for exclusively for FF. They don't own you or your customers anything. If I'm forced to play spiderman on playstation they can buy an Xbox for CoD. Xbox gave that clown what would end up being 6 years of CoD for your gamers and he declined. And the cross play gets extra spicy because to Microsoft it wouldn't be an issue but for Sony its a realistic fear of what coming down the road. Sony’s acting like a spoiled child. All Sony really cares about is money. They act like they care about the gamer… But that couldn’t be further from the truth. They’re charging a premium $70 which is $10 more then their competitor Xbox. They’ve been buying up 3rd party exclusives for years keeping 3rd party games from appearing on Xbox. If you ask me, Sony should be counting their lucky stars. Three years of COD is more then generous. When was the last time PlayStation has done anything for Xbox? I can’t think of a single time PlayStation has done Xbox a single favor in the last 20 years. I don’t even think they’ve given Xbox a single praise. At the end of the day PlayStation doesn’t care about their gamers, at least not in the way you would think. If they truly cared about their gamers they wouldn’t charge them $70 for their games. They wouldn’t have increased the price of their console in every market except USA. They wouldn’t lie to their gamers, ie: we believe in generations, this game is only possible on PS5 etc. They wouldn’t ban cross platform play, they would allow their gamers to play with everyone. I mean if you really look at it, all they care about is money. Money, money and more money. Oh and how can we stick it to the other guy… I’m sure they laugh pretty hard every time they’ve done it in the last 20 years.
