It's not that bad. You should see the us court system. You have no idea how many high ranking judges just rule in their financial favor. Don't even get me started on Congress. Hell I'm not sure they ever vote on something unless they are profiting or protecting profits. I try to be neutral because I like games in general and have owned both systems (at the same time) in the past. However, as I get older, I feel Xbox has the more diverse lineup even if they're lacking big, first party titles, right now. Xbox offers numerous genres e.g. FPS, RTS, Racing, RPG, Sim, 4X Strategy, etc. Sony primarily concentrates on cinematic games and they do them well. But I want more than those. So, for me, Xbox has always been the better value purely due to the diversity of their portfolio. A big part of that is Game Pass that includes indie gems that also broadens what they offer as well.

These boards are created to determine if such a transaction fits the definition of anti competitive behaviour. The only problem here is that money talks so most nations no longer enforce them. That's the true corruption. But deciding in the way they are isn't a problem. It might lead to reccomendations like well you can do this, but you have to have parity with playsation cod for the next 30 years. Or you can't put it in gamepass day 1 etc... but I don't like consolidation by either MS or PS. That will lead us to a path of an anticompetitive marketplace.

I've platinumed the original Demon's Souls at what ever frame rate that was and I was one of the first to do it. Did it within the first month. I'd rather have a 60hz vrr OLED tv than care about 120hz and if I had 120hz I'd be fine with running games at 40hz with more graphical fidelity because of the way frame rates look. Tell me when SeX games get out of development hell. All the games my friends wanted that they were considering getting an Xbox over were cancelled. The last Fable (not the current one) Scalebound, etc... Plus all of Micrsoft's current development games are having issues. Look at Halo Infinite. I have been on Playstation since I was 12, I have over 700 games in my playstation library, and some of those are game compilations like Crash Bandicoot Collection. I have a backlog so long that I'd never ever care about getting an Xbox even if someone gave it to me and gave me 5 years of Gamepass. I'd maybe play like 5 games, and then move on with my life and go back to Playstation or finish working on the computer I bought from someone and getting it working to play some of my hundreds of Humble Bundle games. I give absolutely 0 fricks about Xbox. If the stock/crypto markets recover in the next 3 years MAYBE I'll consider buying a Series S after I buy a Tesla with 20x gains, but I don't care about your Xbot retardedness. I could never buy a new game and probably enjoy gaming for the next 20+ years. What the hell is your excuse like seriously. First, I am annoyed at Sony. I have a PS5 but am really struggling to support them right now. That being said, this is business. Sony is just trying to make the path as difficult as possible for their rival. I don't think Sony believes they can stop this. I think they believe they can delay it and cost MS millions of dollars in legal fees. Second, it certainly is hypocrisy. When you look at all the shady crap they have pulled to keep the playing field slanted in their favor, they really look like crybabies now. I doubt an EU judge would care. It's a very small bias from like 1 guy against a company that is almost always is in some sort of market competition lawsuit. Poor taste? There is too much consolidation of developers going to Microsoft and this definitely doesn't help that and Microsoft has a storied tradition of just buying their way to crush the competition. The Bethesda deal I kinda get, but they made Starfield exclusive when the devs were working on a playstation version and it's up in the air if Elder Scrolls 6 is coming to the PS systems, on top of that most of Activision/Blizzard's games are free to play, so they probably could have easily gotten a deal to have all the Call of Duty games on Gamepass but then still be able to sell DLC as well as getting people to subscribe to Gold as well. 80 billion dollars is a lot to spend to get some Candy Crush devs, some Call of Duty games to give out, and maybe like Diablo games on Gamepass. That's not like a screaming deal there.

I find what Sony does with exclusivity far more concerning. It's far less barrier to entry in locking exclusivity than buying studios outright. Ie ff7R was suppose to be a 12month exclusive but then Sony extended it.

I think the problem with a deal like this is that the gaming sphere can and is very tribal. People always need to pick a side.. Playstation v Xbox, COD Vs battlefield etc etc. Tribalism often brings out the worst in people.

This could leave MS with the ability to pull many franchises from all competitiers. I think the points brought up by the UK and EU are valid. People seem to think that Microsoft is just Xbox, they aren't. Microsoft is a mega corporation that already has a hell of a lot of control far outside of gaming. This deal could affect alot more than just gaming. Especially with Microsofts market lead in the PC OS market place and within the cloud. Buying a publisher the size of Actiblizz isn't the same as buying single studios or paying for exclusivity which is something MS, Sony and Nintendo do. If you're talking about price increases then that's just a fact of the current world financial situation and both MS and Nintendo haven't ruled it out. Even MS have said that they will have to increase prices soon.

What the EU and CMA are basically saying here, is it’s okay for Sony (my PlayStation) but it’s not okay for anyone else, in terms of exclusive games, services and exclusive content… This is all a bit concerning that they’re SO concerned about their platform, obvious favoritism in the tweet. Not even close… and after this deal goes through, PlayStation is still Market Leader. Btw Sony has bought several studios over the years, and they have made several exclusive deals with publishers… They also had the opportunity to buy Activision Blizzard, but they chose not too. At the end of the day, this deal between Microsoft and Activision Blizzard is a good thing. Especially if it means new games and the return of other games that would otherwise just sit on the shelf. New and more games is a good thing! Frankly I don’t see how anyone could have a problem with that. There will be plenty of ways to access said new games.

EU regulators its always looking microsoft because they have done so many harm to the market in the past. for example how the "market leader" netscape got destroyed by internet explorer when it took advantage of its windows power, the same could happen here at first its all good to the customers but in the end the competition suffered and customers when microsoft itself let the market rot once it took over the market.
