Often featured in tabloid headlines as a pair of odd-ball pals, what was behind their instant and enduring connection? What was Culkin's experience of Jackson away from prying eyes? I genuinely think MJ liked being around kids, not only bc his childhood was trash and non existent, but because hanging out with kids was the only time he felt comfortable and could be himself. MJ was oober famous. Like scary famous. Dangerous famous. There will never be that kind of fame again (because of social media) but MJ was so famous that he lived a very abnornal life. He couldnt go anywhere, he was hounded and harassed and yelled at, chased, always had to have security, one time he paid a grocery store to shut down just so he could grocery shop himself to feel like a normal human being. I think he enjoyed kids company because he enjoyed the same things kids enjoy and they looked at him like just a normal dude. He wasnt "the MJ" like he was to the rest of the world. I cant fathom living with that sort of fame. Ive heard other celebrities speak about how even they were scared of his fame and felt uncomfortable around him because of all the attention and fans he attracted. I think he was a big kid at heart and was until the day he died. Listen to the way he spoke, he blushed when asked about girlfriends, he never cursed, he was a gentleman. Was he odd? Definitely. But anyone who grew up and was surrounded with that kind of fame and attention would be. 🤷‍♀️ Just my opinion.

I'm a 40 year old woman and I prefer kids to adults sometimes. The innocence, the honesty, and the pure elation they feel towards basic things.

Their friendship was very symbiotic. Michael gave Mac the guidance of how to navigate life as a child star. Advice that very few people can give. Macaulay gave Mike the experience of the childhood he was robbed of. It's sick that humans automatically assumed that there was a predatory, sinister side to this. Michael Jackson was protecting Macaulay from the trauma that he experienced at that age and they were a positive force in each others life until the media started making creepy accusations.

There is some really disgusting and known child abuse going on in Hollywood. Woody Allen should be in jail not only was his wife concerned about him touching his adopted daughters and grooming their little girls and other children who did accuse him of sexual abuse, he soon divorced his wife and married the person he was accused of sexually touching, cheating on her with, and grooming, one of his adopted daughter from their house!!! Jail him! Don’t watch his perverted films about weird old men and young girls that try to normalize divergent behaviors and mass groom for perverts who refuse to stay monogamous with a single wife of their youth.

I bet when Michael met Mac’s father for the first time, he could see his father in the eyes of Mac’s father. They both are child stars and have traumatic childhood due to their abusive father. MJ did a fantastic decision to name Mac as The Godfather of his kids. I truly believe that MJ welcomed all these child stars like Mac in his ranch to protect them from pedophilia in Hollywood.

Mac is a real one. Mike was wise to pick him as a friend. He was not bothered by the age difference because Mike didn't believe in those kinds of boundaries. Michael saw ANOTHER Child Star about to go through the worst of fame & became that friend that Michael wished he had when his fame rose with the Jackson 5 in 1969. Through Macaulay, Michael got to be a true blue friend, a mentor, & a way to express those repressed feelings lost in his own childhood. The price people pay to jump those economic classes takes a toll. Especially on kids. When you look at it objectively, it is the EXACT same reason he befriended Emmanuel Lewis who played Webster on TV. And both Emmanuel & Mac NEVER disrespected their friendships with Michael not even for all the money in the world. For all the turncoats Mike faced in his life, at least he had some real ones around him like Macaulay.

I’m not a Jackson fan. Never bought a record. But I am kinda obsessed with researching the psychological ramifications of childhood trauma/neglect/abuse as well as the social fascination with celebrity along with the trauma sustained from growing up in the industry. Not to mention my all time favourite, religious cults and the dynamics involved with the combination of all of those. This case for me epitomises everything in one fascinating study case. I’ve read/watched everything put out in the public domain that I can get my hands on. Jackson grew up with a Jehovah’s Witness mother, with a tyrannical/abusive father, in a black family in 1960s Indiana, U.S. from a poor social- economic background (2 adults, 9 kids in a 2 bedroom house) and then was thrust in to world wide fame with no childhood and intense scrutiny. My belief is he suffered from major arrested development, I don’t believe he matured mentally beyond the age of about 11. I also suspect he may have been asexual/aromantic but felt the pressure to present himself in a more socially acceptable light romantically. I also think he had a rightfully deep seated mistrust of not just adults but also therapists. He needed intense therapy but couldn’t seek it the conventional way. His therapy was living vicariously through other children, by giving them the chance to have the kind of childhood he wished for himself, thereby saving the broken child within himself. It’s the gross minds of others who can’t fathom any reason for an adult to seek out a kinship with children other than sexual gratification. Add in to the mix those kids money-hungry parents who used their children to exploit and extort him. As a former abused child myself, I have developed an enduring interest in the subject as well as a sixth sense for creeps and paedos. Can’t explain it, but when I’m near one the alarm goes off. I’ve never been wrong thus far. The alarm has never gone off with Jackson. I think he was so very wronged. People did him dirty.

Thank you for sharing your personal view. Yes I also feel the same as you, and on top of that I think he didn’t have anyone telling him that people would think weird things if he hung around children. And he absolutely never imagined that they would go to such lengths as to accuse him of molestation. In his mind he didn’t understand people would see a (very dishonest selfish and harmful ) opportunity in the way he lived. And it’s not that he would be surrounded by kids all the time, most of the time he was busy and also surrounded by people. I spoke with his photographer and he told me how he was always swarmed by a bunch of people all the time. I guess people working for him.

I seriously don't understand how seemingly intelligent women can be so stupid when it comes to Michael Jackson. If a 30+ year old man said, "can I sleep with your 10-year-old son?" Chances are you'd call the police. But for some strange reason, people like you check your brains at the door and say, "but...um...with Michael it was different! He didn't have a childhood!" You are literally too stupid to be typing on the internet...and that says a lot.

A lot of respect for Macaulay Culkin. Michael Jackson was truly a good human being. He was a child at heart. But the corrupt system of just suing anybody for money(especially if they are famous) , caused him to spiral out. 'Every adult wanted something or the other from him'. Michael Jackson was always and will always remain a hero to me. Irrespective of what the media portrays him as.

I sadly never met MJ, i never attended a concert. But deep down i just know that MJ just liked children for their natural behaviour. MJ had a very unconventional Childhood as far as i know and so i strongly believe that what he did was basically living out the childhood he never had, yes he was a grown man by then but we all carry our inner child through live. And i believe if that child doesn't get to play in the real world, you will seek opportunities to do so. As said, i know as little as you could about MJ. I know i loved his music a lot. it's a gut feeling i have. MJ would never hurt anyone for the sake of his satisfaction. I can and won't believe that. I think MJ was more of a big brother to Mac. I wasn’t there for any of it but I’ll say one thing.. I worked for a woman who was disabled and took advantage of me as I worked as an unpaid caregiver. Housing was my pay. When I realized she was taking advantage of me I couldn’t move out so I had to continue allowing it for another 3 years until FINALLY I got out. Other workers of hers saw some of how she really was but I had it the worst. My home which she provided was rat infested, moldy, my old furnace caught fire, and she also tricked me into working an extra 9 hours a week to cover pet deposits.. and when I had paid them off completely she lied and said that was never the agreement. That I had to keep working the extra 9 hours. Anyways my point is.. sometimes people come off to certain people as complete angels. And to others as evil, disgusting, manipulative people. That is how bad people get away with things. They pick and choose who they abuse so that they will always have someone to back them up.

Look into Jordan Chandler's father he's a total POS and there is recording of him conspiringto take MJ down with the accusations and lo and behold ....he did...

The other accusers mom was a broke Hispanic single mother who asked for millions of dollars. But nooo they weren't motivated by money Sick greedy horrible people absolutely flock to rich kind hearted celebrities like flies on 💩. Just look at Britney Spears. Poor girl has not one single person who truly loves her not her father mother sister bother children or ex lovers. No one. They all robbed her blind and left her hung out to dry .

My take on it, is this: Age is more psychological than physical, when you truly think about it. I believe that all the trauma MJ experienced as a child, made him regress back to a child, psychologically, as he got older. So, even though it seems inappropriate to us, in his mind, he was a child and felt safer in the company of children. Age regression is all about mentally going back to a time when you felt happier and safer.

I kinda understand MJ's draw to hanging with kids. They really are much more fun (duh) but for me its more that they aren't as bothered with all the stresses of being an adult and are so much better with being in the moment. Babysitting is like getting a vacation from being an adult. Being an Auntie is my biggest joy, and I promise we don't have to be blood for me to claim you as my nibbling! ❤

I love seeing those vides of Jackson and Culkin together. It's like 2 friends just hanging out like any other friends. Goes to show that away from the glimmer & lights, Michael Jackson was a normal guy just doing what other guys like doing.

I remember when some people thought this was a weird relationship, but I bet if Madonna would have befriended Punky Brewster everyone would have thought it was cute. Double standards.

Never stop standing up for what is right, and what you know to be true. Very nice insight into a beautiful friendship that had 2 people with mutual respect for each other. I always have thought Mac was a little stinker and still do, and guess what so was Mike. Kudos to them both.

I really like these two persons and I'm happy Macaulay is still supporting Michael after all these years, I'm sure it was a awesome friendship. I'm so sad Michael passed away too soon and how he was treated by the media, I don't think any stars got such a bad treatment ever.

As someone who did question the accusations as maybe true ... I am sorry I did... kids who are abused don’t act happy or safe like that around an abuser, they become shy or uneasy around that person

I always thought MJ was a weird guy until I learned his past and how he must have felt about his life. I think he understood more than anyone how stardom can ruin a child's life, and because your basically being set up for a life that you are groomed for it can create so many feelings of hatred and resentment.

I am glad Macaulay Caulkin spoke truthfully. I believe in my heart Michael Jackson IS innocent of all these malicious and malevolent accusations. I emphasized “is” because He is to me alive in the new earth he was meant to be. With a very heavy heart, I have to say, Michael was never meant to be on this earth…with people always wanting to get something from him. All he wanted was to share his talents and show his love to children. He was robbed of his own childhood so to me, being around children was the safest place he could ever be. He was his true, free-spirited, crazy child-like self who didn’t have to be manipulated. Michael blessed us with his gifts, his music and his humanity. He was a beautiful soul and he is better off in heaven… This judgmental, opportunistic and cruel world he lived in was never a place for his kind and loving heart ❤️ and gosh, how I miss him terribly as one of THE Greatest artists who ever lived! ❤

The common phrase will be "I feel sorry for Michael", But more realistically. I feel sorry for Mac, who, just like Mike, had a pretty early entry to the world of Stardom, And no matter what he does he will always be linked to m j. As a fan I appreciate his unwavering love to his friend. I hate that the million tries to always make it weird for him but he never strayed from his friendship

They were so lucky to meet and to find this great friendship bond over all the years, out of the same reason "Kids fame". They were loyal to each other and had lots of fun, like you should have in a friendship. I just feel sorry, that they had no Chance to celebrate 20, 30 and 40 years of friendship together.

It does make total sense to me that someone as famous as Michael Jackson, with all the disappointments in people and the dangers it brought to him, found some peace hanging out with kids who seemingly wouldn't harm him -until their greedy parents got involved.
