Lucifer (Terrance Zdunich) reads the classic fable "The Scorpion and the Frog" as the slick and charming Scorpion (Marc Senter) croons "Trust Me" to his gullible frog gal, Tamara (Jessica Lowndes). Aided by the lovely Painted Doll (Emilie Autumn), The Scorpion uses a knife-thrower's deadly accuracy to strike love into Tamara's heart. But once she takes his bait, this Lothario can't help but reveal his true, venomous nature.
Director Darren Lynn Bousman and writer/actor Terrance Zdunich invite you to join them on an exclusive nationwide road tour featuring burlesque, special personality meet and greets, Q&A forums, sing-alongs, costume contests, and a whole lot of devilish behavior. Audiences will get to enjoy never-before-seen REPO! THE GENETIC OPERA behind-the-scenes footage and bonus features, and, most notably, an exclusive viewing of their new musical film, THE DEVIL'S CARNIVAL.
After a triumphant collaboration on 2008's cult hit REPO! The Genetic Opera, Bousman and Zdunich had no where to go but down. ALL THE WAY DOWN TO HELL! Come experience their new musical endeavor, THE DEVIL'S CARNIVAL.
THE DEVIL'S CARNIVAL features twelve original songs, written by Zdunich and Saar Hendelman, directed by Bousman, produced by Sean E Demott and Joseph Bishara (Insidious), and stars Victoriandustrial rocker Emilie Autumn, Dayton Callie (Sons Of Anarchy, Deadwood), M. Shawn "Clown" Crahan (of the Grammy award winning, cult metal giants Slipknot), Briana Evigan (Step Up 2), Sean Patrick Flanery (The Boondock Saints), Maggie "Captain Maggots" Lally and The Blessed Contessa (of The Bloody Crumpets), J LaRose (Insidious), Jessica Lowndes (90210), Mighty Mike Murga (of Mini Kiss), internet star Hannah Minx, Ivan Moody (of the chart-topping heavy metal band Five Finger Death Punch), Bill Moseley (The Devil's Rejects), Ogre (of the legendary industrial band Skinny Puppy), Marc Senter (The Lost), Paul Sorvino (Goodfellas), Alexa Vega (Spy Kids), and Zdunich.

A scorpion and a frog meet on the bank of a stream and the scorpion asks the frog to carry him across on its back. The frog asks, "How do I know you won't sting me?" The scorpion says, "Because if I do, I will die too." The frog is satisfied, and they set out, but in midstream, the scorpion stings the frog. The frog feels the onset of paralysis and starts to sink, knowing they both will drown, but has just enough time to gasp "Why?" Replies the scorpion: "Its my nature..."

You gotta love the acting that miss Emilie Autumn put out for this motion picture. I think she did an amazing job of conveying body language for the painted doll character. For the small amount of lines she had (all being in song of course) you got an amazing amount of character from her body language and movement. She most certainly made the movie for me

I don't know how I feel about Tamaras ending. On one hand I do get the symbolism- each of the characters are given the opportunity to escape their hell if they can overcome their personal flaws, but they can't/won't except for John. But on the other hand there are many complicated reasons why someone might get into and stay in a toxic relationship. Lots of people look for love in the wrong places when their parents don't treat them well, for example, or if they believe nobody could love them due to depression and low self esteem. Does Tamara really deserve to be punished for that?
@lilstardrops
@lilstardrops 2 жыл бұрын
It's not that she deserved to be punished, it is just what happened naturally in the chain of events. She didn't deserve her end but it was what happened.

Allow me to try this with a, frankly, cold and objective observation. The idea of going to Hell is because you were the architect of your own destruction. Yes, there are nuances in the psychology of abusive partnerships, and staying when you shouldn't... but the same can be said about all 3. The trick is that silly thing Ole Satan gave our species, in the narrative: Choice. Despite our impulses and tugs, humans DO have the ability to change their own nature. It's a matter of will, strength, and self awareness. The damnation isn't because they were immoral. The damnation is because, in the end, they were all weak to themselves.

If you watch the 2nd devil's carnival you find that the god in the movies universe is different from the real god in the way that if you have any flaws at all he sends you to hell. Whereas the real god had a son that died for everyone's sins so you don't have to be perfect.

A lot of people have said that it's unfair to paint "being too trusting" as a sin. What they forget is that this movie takes place in another world. At the beginning, we see God working on a doll which he casts aside after a slight imperfection on the eyebrows. In this world, God isn't looking for those who are good, but those who are not flawed. Tamara is not a sinner for trusting too much, but it is an imperfection that lands her here, and which she is doomed to repeat. Great film and song!

The problem is that she doesn't even bother trying to learn about the person she gives her trust to. She never tries to learn about them, she falls for their appearance, for her own feelings towards them. Ultimately, is it love to trust someone when you've never truly know them? Is it a blessing to trust someone else without due reason?

I met a boy who acted just like this. I knew from the very first seconds what kind of guy he probably was, and I didn't come closer and I didn't trust a single word he was saying to me... but, he was so nice, so sweet, that eventually I started thinking "well, maybe I'm wrong, and he's really sincere after all"... no way. It turned out to be just like I thought he was from the very beginning. He played all nice and sweet on me, he pretended all the time, and it was just a damn sick joke. Just like Scorpion does here... The real funny thing is that, this guy was a SCORPIO. ..Guess some songs are just specially written for somobody....

I think it's amazing. It's about three people who die and go to hell, where they find that hell is a carnival, The Devil's Carnival. The basis for the movie are three of Aesop's Fables: The Scorpion and the Frog, The Dog and Her Reflection, and Grief and His Due. Each character experiences events similar to those in their fable (Ex. This video is an adaptation of The Scorpion and the Frog). I won't give away too much more, but if you like Repo! The Genetic Opera I think you'll like this one too.

I always felt sorry for Tamara. Being too trusting to the point you die as a result is hardly evil. It's a flaw, sure, but does it really warrant eternal punishment in hell? Surely the life she'd been living was punishment enough... she doesn't belong in Hell. At least, I don't think so.
@camilaGMW
@camilaGMW 10 жыл бұрын
Have you ever heard the expression: "looking the other way"? When I watched to movie, I questioned myself, why the hell Tamara is in Hell? Well, as you see, she is trusting, right? And giving the fact that her "love affairs"involve not so good people, don't you think they might have sent her off to do them "favors"? That could be, as I can imagine, illegal? So... Being in love or not, it's out of her free will that Tamara chose to acomplished those favors, over looking any fact, in the name of her "love". Thus, we conclude, she is guilty.
@firegirl2202
@firegirl2202 10 жыл бұрын
Well, it's because she's flawed that she was banished to hell. In this movie, you don't get sent to hell because of sins, it's because of flaws. God wants perfection, if you don't meet the perfection, you go to hell. Her flaw is being to trusting, and putting her trust into the wrong people... and to some extent, playing the victim. First couple of times, okay, but after a while, you'd think she'd learn her lesson.

Everyone talks about how she shouldn't trust him, but if you watch the movie, you can see she is not a good person either. She follows the boys with criminal tendencies because she thinks it's exciting and just stands by and watches as they hurt others.

She went to hell because she was a liar. Also, she kept making the same mistake. She consciously chose men she knew were bad and wouldn't treat her right. There are only so many times God will forgive someone for doing the same thing over and over. So, eventually, she stopped being forgiven for making the same mistake over and over and was sent to hell when she died.

Na she wouldve been beaten by the tamer for breaking a rule like #135 which states dont let animals out of cages. She wouldve rroeated this cycle every day for eternity, sometimes she would trust him sometimes not but would always suffer. John was only let go because he gave the devil his due not grief, he made lucifer resluze that God was the true monster punishing people like John etc. This triggered fury in lucifer to knock God off his high horse and start sending those who dont deserve the carnival to heaven regardless, effectively shutting God down and lucufer having full final say on who suffers and who doesnt

I think it's kinda sad how much focus is put on Emily Autumn's character throughout the whole movie. She shows up in nearly every scene, has the longest song, and though the character is lovely and her voice is BEAUTIFUL, I really feel they got too excited about having someone like her on set, and threw too much attention her way, and distracted from the other cast members. I adore her as well, but there are others on set that I have deep admiration for and would like, and hope, to see more from
