I used an airbrush since the 1960's ... I taught Airbrush Techniques after my combat tour(2/502 Infantry, 101st Airborne) in 1970 ... One of the illustrators for "Fisher Body" (GM-Pontiac) showed me his use and opened a new world to me. The only thing I had to do was weaken the binder (I added a small bit of water) and worked on CS-10 Illustration board. I have taught ALL my students the "How too's" of using them. Great post mate. One point; DON'T LEAVE IT WITH BATTERIES IN THE CUPBOARD! Over the years I have had batteries leak, so I always pack it away empty ... just a thought ... I have 3 different brands, from three different countries ... two are thin rectangle shapes and one is a little too thick Round ... user's choice. They don't work well (they can work) with acrylic ... watercolour is best. Great information/post ... thank you Paul ;)

Thank you for the tip regarding the batteries Ken, I didn't consider that. I've never tried airbrushing, but I do know how fine it can be. I remrmber many years ago when I was in my twenties, there was a young lady who did this amazing form of art in fine detail. I will never forget the work she did, so, so fine and perfectly done.

@@TheDevonArtist A quick note. The inventor of the air brush was a watercolour artist from the 1800's who wanted to add tints of colours to his seascapes and landscapes without disturbing the under colors he had already painted. A hair brush would wet the under color making it mix. With the airbrush idea he could add layers on top of his older work (they called it; "The art of the dot") ... I told you I'm old .LOL I own three and was the demonstrator for the Paasche mdl AB Turbo among others, (Pat. date is 1903). They stopped production in 1984 I think. Keep up the good work ... I've learned a few things... thank you...

@@airbrushken5339 Lovely information Ken, you are so knowledgeable regarding this subject, hopefully one day, when I'm not teaching, I can try this out.

Yes, I have used electric erasers like this with good results, neat device

Thank you Guðjón, yes it's quite a new thing for me, and I like the fact you can vary the eraser nib widths as well.

A point I forgot ... I use drywall sand paper and sharpen some rubbers to a point. I usually have three-four rubbers on my desk ready to use with the machine. Also some companies sell different coarseness "Mix" rubbers, so you may would like to check it out. I found England was the best place to order from (I'm a Yank living/teaching in OZ) was London for shipping times ... the USA is the slowest!!! I like making pointed ones when doing work on EYES or HAIR ... it's always a personal choice, like using coloured pencils as I use water colour pencils and then use a spray drawing sealer.
