Thanks for showing how to make that brush, that's helpful. But why would you trim it straight across? Why not at an angle to make hairs that aren't all the same length?
@TheDevonArtist Жыл бұрын
Hi Lisa, yes I've tried cutting the bristles many different ways to see how the effect would look, and the way you just mentioned is one of them. I also find that shaving the hairs down the length with a craft knife can give you a sort of feather cut, giving you different length hairs. Paul 🎨

Thank you for your sharing your knowledge!
@TheDevonArtist2 жыл бұрын
Hi Lynda, thank you very much. Yes, I would personally use similar foundation colours before layering the details over the top, just so you have a good varied background that will show through. Consider the placement of the colours 'behind the scene' and you will be fine. Paul 🎨

I'm mostly self-taught in painting. I usually work with ink, dip pens and markers, so I'm used to see immediate results. With watercolour, I never realised I don't give it enough time to rest, to dry as much as necessary. Also, I'm unfamiliar with painting in layers. This is why your video is so enlightening. I loved your replicator brushes. I would never thought of that. I use old rough brushes with ink to add texture and effect, but never thought of a personal "replicator" brush like yours. I already made two. I will definitely look into your videos. Thank you so much!

You can do it Donna! As long as you do plenty of planning for your colour and composition before you start, you should be fine. Having a good plan beforehand is the way I work, it saves far too many mistakes during the painting process. Paul ;-)
