For those wondering why this was re-uploaded: There was about 3 minutes of the original video that was.. umm... largely uncredited information from 3 seperate blogs. So I ran the script through a plagiarism checker and cut those parts out completly, which thankfully was only just the intro of the video. I then re-wrote a new intro and edited it together to connect to the rest of the video full of actually original writing which is what I pay my writers for. Normally this is not an issue so it slipped by a lot of people before the video went live. Thankfully yall were really nice when pointing out the mistake and I was able to take the video down quickly.

I pulled a shining Raichu back in 2000 and it was the coolest thing ever to me (I was about 11). I had a blast making a deck around it to stack it with water energy and blast away benched ‘mons. Not the most competitive card but we were young and dumb and I still really like the flavor of the cards and their wonky energy costs.
@ChaoticMeatballTV2 жыл бұрын
Multiple energy type requirements definitely doomed this mechanic the first go-around, and while the second abandoned that idea, there wasn't a need to. If you're familiar with the Dragon type, that type never received its own basic energy, and instead used multiple types, but thanks to Double Dragon Energy in Roaring Skies, it made Dragons rather playable, not meta, just playable to work around that. I think it would've been cool to have Shining Energy or something akin to that, but alas I'm glad they've fixed the mechanic with Radiant Pokemon.

I think the newer SV pokemon speciality will be based on tera forms. You know, a lot like delta species... Pokemon with their types changed. But seeing evolution mechanic getting revisited for returning ex pokemon, i feel like it might come back as a little bit closer to break pokemon. Like putting a special tera form card on one of your pokemon. Would be so cool and fun if they tackle that mechanic in the game :)

Don't forget the red Gyarados made purely for trolling. It could work with Delcatty ex, if the Delcatty weren't an ex, or even if it had more than 90 HP. I'm quite sure there weren't legal cards that could force your opponent to use your attacks, or that card would've been lethal.

Worth mentioning is the Shining Gyarados from Holon Phantoms, which comes with a suicide attack that shaves your entire deck down to the last card. I guess it could be used for trolling if there were (legal) cards that force your opponent to use your attacks or do something to that effect, but I'm not aware of any at that time. You could also troll with it using Delcatty ex's Upstream for an infinite loop, but the problem is that the Delcatty is an ex with only 90 HP, so you are likely to lose in prize trades.

Shinies in the videogames have minimal combat perks compared to normal versions. They could just have made the shinies an ultra rare recolor - something like 1 copy per 1000 whole boxes of sealed product and Pokemon fans would still be psychologically compelled to pay big dollars for them.
@ResidentKlinton2 жыл бұрын
A bunch of Shining Pokemon are important in Gym Leader Challenge. Some you don't see so often, but most grass decks play Shining Genesect for its high HP and damage potential in the format. Water decks often play Volcanion for the spread damage (or used to because of the recent AR Kyogre ban). Shining Mew also has its place in Psychic decks because Psychic often revolves around being behind on prizes in the early game. Shining Ho-oh is also sometimes played instead of regular Ho-oh in Fire decks to preserve energy in case the opponent gets the knockout.

It is weird singling out shining Pokemon amongst the many more successful iterations of this mechanic. A lot of people are talking about Radiants, but prism Stars and especially star Pokemon were very successful in their day. The Eeveelution stars were seen in a variety of decks for their damage counter manipulation effects and Mew star was the first iteration of attack stealing we'd see. Something that gets a would see even more play from Mew Prime to Fusion Strike Mew. Celebi in general, produces some very useful cards because being able to use attacks from your previous forms is a super useful effect that did see some play with Luxray trainer lock even if it wasn't that much

Not a failed mechanic! the reason why is because there’s nothing special about being a shiny, Pokémon TCG, and in the video games, there’s still nothing special about being shiny, except from being rare, the TCG brought us shining Pokémon in a beautiful way, and that is collectability. They just collectibles. they’re not necessarily designed to be good or competitive anyway And the fact that some of them just so happened to Work okay and they were good enough that just makes them good enough collectables. And today we have radiant Pokémon which are limited to one per deck and some of them are pretty good, but only limited to one copy per deck to show off how rare they are to emulate their reality in the game they’re fine. they’re not meant to be big game breaking powerhouses. They’re just meant to be nice little support cards and that’s good enough. Again, they’re not meant to be a big powerhouse compare of card. They’re just meant to be something nice for the collector. The fact that any of them saw any compare of play at all lucky but it’s not relevant. I have a radiant heatran and I love it and it sets in a binder on the front page and it just looks good. Radiant Greninja in my Glaceon Vstar what are type toolbox deck.
@dragonmaster9517532 жыл бұрын
They could have done it simpler. Just change already existing new cards with their alternative color. So if a card is good its shiny will be an even bigger collector item. Cause shiny Pokémon played exactly the same so it should have been released just the same.

You could have also included star shinies from the Legend Maker era that were a similar series of rare cards, with also the limitation of only 1 per deck, but usually nowhere near as strong to justify using them (eg: Regice had a good move, but very expensive and only good when opponent was about to win, while the card only had 90HP so it was begging you to throw the game)!

This is supposed to be constructive feedback, I'm not trying to be a dick here. You might want to look up some of the pronunciations of Pokémon while you're recording the scripts. Some of these either sound like you've only ever seen the word written down, or are misread (celesteela being "celestia" in this video stuck out). I've noticed it in a few Pokémon videos now, and imo it's a bit jarring in what is otherwise a well polished and researched video series.
