To my own research In USA, individuals living in cars due to partial homelessness result from a complex interplay of factors. High housing costs relative to income, stagnant wages, and income inequality drive this issue. Job loss, weak social support, medical expenses, evictions, and lack of affordable housing also contribute, while systemic problems and inadequate policies further perpetuate the phenomenon.

Considering the present situation, diversifying by shifting investments from real estate to financial markets or gold is recommended, despite potential future home price drops. Given prevailing mortgage rates and economic uncertainty, this move is prudent, particularly due to stricter mortgage regulations. Seeking advice from a knowledgeable independent financial advisor is advisable for those seeking guidance.

I've remained in touch with a financial analyst since the start of my business. Amid today's dynamic market, the key difficulty is pinpointing the right time to buy or sell when dealing with trending stocks - a seemingly simple task but challenging in reality. My portfolio has grown by more than 5 figures within just a year, and i have entrusted my advisor with the task of determining entry and exit points.

I am an Airbnb host in Madeira Island, and when the pandemic started, I just welcomed a guest from Russia that was 71 years old. She lived in the USA in NY City. Madeira's Government told us that they would close the airport for undetermined period of time and suggested us to ask all of our guests to leave the island coz they did not know when the airport would reopen. She was very afraid of going home and getting infected on her way to New York. The result was: I spend 6 months with a brilliant woman that had a great life story, in my flat. Our time together was incredibly beautiful and both of us were very grateful for Airbnb for ur connection. I made many good friends that came to my place as Airbnb guests! I just love Airbnb to host and to use it as a guest too! Thank you, Brian!!!

He's also a huge reason why most people under 35 can't afford to buy a home and the skyrocketing cost of rent. He's the reason New York City had more temporary airbnb's than homes for lease this year - gutting communities of the people who make and invest in them. Fortunately now NY has effectively banned it and hundreds of cities worldwide are doing the same. Some critical questions by the host would've gone a long way, but I'm sure he didn't want to upset him and these soft ball interviews are how he keeps getting more gusts.

@@AZ2PM I was born and raised in NYC, I don’t think places like NYC should have airbnbs because it’s too many people, but make no mistake he is not the reason for skyrocketing rents, the rent tripled in New York since the 90’s way before airbnb and people under 35 haven’t been able to buy homes wayyyyy before airbnb was a thing. We have some problems when it comes to housing in the US but I promise you getting rid of airbnb won’t make a difference. We need to ask landlords why the rent is so high not this man.

@@rubberbandretta3031 Read "What Really Took Down Airbnb" The Atlantic, 7th Oct 2023. The data don't lie, airbnb a huge factor - you think having more airbnbs than houses to rent in NYC didn't impact rents? You're kidding yourself. Now NYC, Paris, Amsterdam, San Fran, Berlin, London, Barcelona, Melbourne all had reviews and all have now limited airbnb in those cities. All those cities didn't get it wrong, they based it on facts.

For example how he feels about the strong negative impact Airbnb is having on a lot of cities in regards to locals unable to find (affordable) places to live. Also the crazy additional costs that are added to your booking (cleaning costs, commission etc.). I personally no longer use Airbnb - it is so very far removed from the initial great idea and is now mostly contributing towards greed, over-tourism & lack of affordable housing for locals.

Air BnB was a greedy set of people. The last place these greedy people should be is working in a setting where Personal behavior exists and is everything. They bought up whole streets in Edinburgh. Scotland. The Scottish government had to step in, it was dreadful what went on. As usual. Americans were involved and didn't care about the effects their behaviour had on the local housing market and the lives of the people around them. Entitled hardly covers it.

So with you. I truly admire the creativity and organic journey here. And, I live in a Northern California small tourist area and we cannot get basic services because all the ongoing rentals have turned into air bnb's and there are no longer monthly/yearly rental homes. Being a high end tourist area has also made the cost of owning a home astronomical. Something has to be done to raise up the quality of life for the majority of our hard working citizens who deserve a decent home to go to at the end of a hard days work. And recognize the majority of these people cannot afford vacations or staying in air bnb's and their homes are there places if refuge.

Very interesting how Airbnb began as a spontaneous idea and a solution to a problem in the moment. Of course as it’s a kept growing and scaling a bigger new problems developed from that simple solution. I see the CEO is very interested in solving loneliness problems, but it seems this interview completely ignored the problem with reduction of affordable rentals. It would’ve been interesting and appreciated if the CEO and interviewer could’ve spent a moment on that issue.

Airbnb is profoundly disruptive and hurtful to millions of people around the world. Where I live in Portugal, thousands of people have lost their homes because the owners have turned them into Airbnbs, and then rents have skyrocketed, and the peoplle who have lost their homes cannot afford to move anywhere. I am very disappointed in Steven for not addressing this huge issue. He comes from poverty, he should have more compassion around this issue.

This man is a huge reason why the cost of housing is near unaffordable in major cities around the world. The host only has soft ball questions with no journalistic rigor so it's no wonder he's made to look like someone with a 'heart of gold' When in truth, airbnb is part of what's been labelled 'regulatory entrepreneurship' - basically breaking the law with your innovation and then blaming the government. Uber did it, airbnb did it. Fortunately now, governments are finally clarifying their position and enforcing the laws, resulting in airbnb being banned. Finally communities gutted by short term leases they tear at the very fabric of these communities and push poorer families out, have a chance.

As I listen to Brian's description of his childhood I see my 9 year old with respect to his creativeness and impulsiveness. I embrace that differentness in him and I always promote his limitlessness imagination, for this reason we decided early in his life that there was no school available to nurture that greatness so we made the decision to create a school for him right at home. We purposely give him access to stories such as this and discuss the pros and cons as well as possibilities. Life balance and friendships are crucial to a great life because no one can go it alone in life and time is an illusion. In this journey we are learning just as much as he is. This is one company single-handedly pulled more people out of poverty and into a decent life than any other company to date. Renters paid their rent comfortably. Cleaners, handymen, and day laborers went from 12-15 an hour to $30-50 -people who never could have owned a property could buy for the first time. People that we’re losing their properties saved them. Americans who could never afford to travel finally could Small businesses flourished with more tourism Stores that sold home goods tripled in sales and could hire more employees - The chain reaction from this one man has been exceptional for society. The few things that killed this social progress is large Hotels and the government running false information and negative campaigns. The Greedy rented properties they didn’t own and shifted the core business model. In 2018/19, they sent most, if not all, of customer service out of the country. That is complete propaganda. Fact time: Houses were always out of most people's affordability. Multi-unit buildings are primarily in rent-control zoned areas. -On November 1, 2019, short-term rental was made illegal in all rent control areas. - 78% of Los Angeles's county or more is under rent control -Evictions were not possible from March 2020 - 2023 -There has been a rent increase freeze since March 2020 and still is ongoing. -Unless a tenant completely fails to pay rent for over two months & over $1700 there is almost no way to remove a tenant. If possible it takes over 6 months -Once the law changed Airbnb app immediately blocked any address that fell inside rent control areas. -As a result, 80% of Airbnb stock in Los Angeles (less than 1/2% of the actual housing market) returned to the market, and the only legal Airbnb units are New buildings never going to be an " affordable rent market". Since 2019, housing costs, homelessness, and rents have gone up. Inflation continued to push the cost of housing up rapidly No new affordable units returned to the market. Everyday folk in service jobs and people Just "getting by" lost the opportunity Additionally, the City of LA lost over 100 million plus $ in tax revenue that could have been used to build affordable housing! Unfortunately the lawless city council & millions $$ of lawmakers allegedly took Back-door deals with hotels. Please don't believe me, take a minute and think about it. How is LA's housing market after 3 years? The only thing the government did was hand back the power to Billion $$$$ hotel chains to monopolize and raise prices. @@carolin9876

It's been outlawed for 3 years; how are the rents?? lol complete propaganda! It consumed literally less than 1/2 % of the housing market, and immediately after the city council made a deal with big hotel chains and changed the laws the app blocked short-term rentals in over 78% of the market and shifted to destination travel outside most cities and Mid term rentals for business travel 6 months to a year stay. Since the laws outlawed 80 % of Airbnb's short-term rentals, Rents are up, homeless is up, and housing prices are up. Learn to think critically it will help you decern when you have been lied to by politicians. Housing will keep rising no matter what happens because inflation is over 15%, making everything cost more. FACTS@@007nadineL

Airbnb has been the most destructive/ #1 reason for displacing residents in Maui. Work force leaving the island due to the imbalance it caused. The illegal vacay rentals did less harm than airbnb. I.e. 1 condo 60 unit complex went from 100% residential only to 98% tourism. Causing such a residential housing crisis that the pricing on ones left for rez have been skyrocketing by 3-4×'s the rate. Favorite interview of yours !! I mean the fact that Brian Chesky put so much emphasis on how LOVE is important, is admirable. Thank God he did and does, so some leaders, managers, CEO's and so on can no longer spread the idea that being a loving person at work is out of style, that it prevents people from amouting to anything when it really doesn't. Unloving leaders actually create horrible work places where Humanity is basically cancelled for the benefit of success (pun intended) when both can not only go together, but are to go hand in hand to build companies that will be remembered by their employees themself but also by employees' families and friends etc etc
