We've been enjoying this game quite a bit. Very clever way to create variety in a simple, thinky filler. :)

Thanks for the review. I'm very much interested in this game now.

I own and love the first one. I'm just not sold on this version. I love the variable powers but overall this adds a lot to a very simple and lovely game. Maybe this is just me, but I felt the same about King of Tokyo/New York, Kingdomino/Queendomino, Sushi Go/Party. These quick games should stay quick and while they may get 'better' with more rules, they fall out of their niche and I just don't reach for them over their simpler versions. I think I'll stick with the first one.

It's interesting that Zee says it has great card quality. It's the one thing that people have been complaining about on BGG.

Yeah, the cards are thin and feel flimsy. They do have a nice linen finish, though.

And he even mentions they are flimsy in his own unboxing... yeah, weird.

The original "Capital Lux" is a fantastic game and its replay value is already excellent. Personally, judging from what I've seen here and in other reviews, I don't need any of the new stuff. It adds a lot of bulk to the game, and yes, some more variety for those who feel they need that, but the whole package pays a heavy price in loss of simplicity and elegance. So if you are new to the game and interested, don't automatically assume that the newer version is the one to go for.

Personally, it was the solo mode that pushed me over the edge to buy it, and it's very good.

Some complaints about this game being mean, did you find this to be true? Looking at playing it mostly two players.

Yes, some of the powers are fairly mean. For what it's worth, we don't usually like mean games, but somehow this one works for us.

Some way (some element) this reminds me of the micro- cardgame Elements from Pegasus spiele.

Great... Now if only my copy can arrive in Canada. 2 to 3 months after the US... when we are right next to it and we pay twice as much for shipping. Pretty sure the shipping costs would have been the same if we got our copies from the same container as those from the US. If I had known, i would have bought from a US kickstarter reseller.

I hate when game boards consist of just a piece of thin paper. Underwater Cities, Castles of Burgundy, this one...

This is very reminiscent of Zany Penguins.

I have wanted to find that little game and it is nowhere anymore. Absolutely vanished.

not a great move to people who bought the first game and now have to buy it again to get the new content instead of just buying an expansion

Components are poor …. My rules booklet barely fits in the box , player boards are garbage……. But it’s a great game so it gets away with it

Maybe if Zee has less forgiving approach and he was much more critical about board games with THE SAME REPETITIVE UN-VERSATILE ART(!!!) as Capital Lux and Sentient - They were stop doing this! Christ!
