Ack.. the automatic focus definitely is NOT working for showing the game. When your arm comes out to point at anything on the table, you lose focus and it is headache-inducing. You need something that allows you to manually step between a short focus and table focus.

Yeah, I think they should just lock focus and use a second camera for close-ups. I ended up skipping the gameplay summary because focus searching was so offputting.

Bought it and have played it about half a dozen times now. Zee is right; it's very clean and elegant. Very thinky but excellent replay value. Definitely recommend (despite the weird AI art).

Funny, I wanted to ask this, too. I felt sort of burned after getting Mosaic right after watching their review. I sold it within a couple of months. I want to be more careful this time.

@@jacobjslee I think they review a lot of games well that just may not work for everyone. I also want to be more careful. I have a very limited collection, so I'd actually rather buy a solid game from 2018 than gamble on something brand new.

Well, the main thing I'd be concerned about is that the game uses 100% AI art.

Just one question, if buying a card is an simultaneous action for everyone, what if two players go for the same card? Or am I just missing something? Need to watch a 4 player playthrough.

I want to like it, but I am so cautious after the Mosaik Review. DT praised it sooo high and the German version at least is almost unplayable and not fun at all….Hope I can play test this first somewhere

Why would you care what their stance is? This is not something people should even take stances. If your personal opinion is that you don't like AI art, then don't buy the game. What someone else feels about it should not matter to you.

Because it's The Dice Tower and it's setting a precedent in regards to its use in the industry? AI art shouldn't be accepted with open arms in any industry. It's stolen labor. It's soulless. It's lazy. And it's insidious in what it'll do to the leverage of meaningful labor in the future. @@Crs9072

I don't mind the Ai, but this game just does bot look attractive. Too abstract. Probably the price to pay for a clean and clear layout. It's a bit like 7 wonders. I like to play it from time to time and the mechanics are cool, but I'm just not very attracted to playing it because it's too abstract.

Path of cilization + AI artwork would have been an interesting concept if the theme was Path to uncivilization, where Robots take over the world. And question, did the AI work make the game cheaper than it would have been otherwise ?

they still seem to try to cash in on it. Saw it on a trade fair yesterday for 65 Euro which is ridiculous (Mosaic for 30€ btw.) It's not only that the persons in the art look super uncanny (literally everyone can do that for free now) I think with AI it never was the plan of this tech to pass the savings on to the customers. It's on to us to Not support this until price drops. to be fair, it won't go away but you have to be more creative than "create photorealistic XY".

VERY weird that the DT crew said nothing about the topic. They usually comment on art, presentation and production profusely. I hope it is hot willful ignorance. AI art is a huge topic in the industry atm, doesn't look good just ignoring the thing altogether.
