Are there modifiers for inactive players due to criminal activity? It just doesn't feel like post-2000 NFL if there is no drama simulated in the game. Maybe a special deck of cards could be made that affect the "PSR." That is, Player Selfishness Rating. If a WR feels he isn't getting enough throws, he can storm off the field like a child, thus losing his team X points.

how about this, put 1st & goal in Mage Wars spell book, get like 2 timer set up one for play (30 sec) and one for actual game time (15 min). chose a play as you would in Mage Wars but within the 30 sec. otherwise apply the usual rule for delay of game. when switch side simply hand the spell (play) book to other player. i think that would be best way to simulate the actual game. of course you could throw in the add-on dice expansion for team differences. what do you guys think about this idea?

I've been developing a football board/card game for the last few months so I was initially disheartened by seeing this, but after watching it all, mines nowhere near as simplified...it has teambuilding (160 unique players, 8 unique team identities)...plays are carried out in a chess like manner with tokens for each player....I've also got statistically accurate dice systems for things like FG's, punts and turnovers...it's really early on but I think it might turn out quite nicely

I'd say modernise it (components, etc.) but the rules are great as they are! from what i've heard i don't think they'll be touching Bloodbowl anytime in the near future. Simply because they are focusing on their main game systems: WHFB, 40K & The Hobbit

1st & Goal rules. I just wish it would come out on iPad. This game is a card based version of the 1970's game ABC Monday Night Talking Football.

I see a reason to get this. It's for your non-gaming football-loving family/friends. I got my father-in-law 1st and Goal. We have fun with it, but it takes longer is more complex than he and my other in-laws need it to be. This looks like it would be faster playing and easier to get to the table. Maybe we'd lose interest sooner because it's SO light, but we don't get 1st and Goal out much either. Personally, I'd rather 1st and Goal. But there's an audience for this game. Oh, and Go Eagles!

I just got this game and I 100% agree with this review. This is a game you play with young kids who are being exposed to football for the first time. Very basic game with very little strategy. That's not to say that it can't be fun, because it can. Just not my cup of tea.

I like this game, I guess its made for scoring points and you get high scoring games and there's hardly Any punts at all. This is because of an offensive play is successful the minimum gain is 5 yards.. And when of course you only need the 10 yards for a 1st down unless you call the right plays on defence 3 times in a row you won't force a Punt...you've got more chance of forcing a turnover by having an Interception or a fumble card. It would have been better had a few 2 and 3 yard offensive plays had been included to make it slightly more realistic.... That said its fun to play and I certainly would let that stop you from purchasing this game! Lastly if you end up with a close game near the end there are No rules official for an onside kick... I Would suggest you simply roll the single dice that the game comes with and on a roll of 6 the kicking team recovers..

Note to fans of the Dallas Cowboys: to replicate the feeling of playing in your home stadium/modern wonder of the world, hang a cardboard box above the game board to simulate having a ridiculously large Jumbo-tron looming over you like an obsessive parent.

As soon as you started showing the components and I knew it was just a massively dumbed down version of 1st and Goal... Even the board is the same kind of magnetic board, there's just less stuff on it. I see no reason to get this.

In NFL Game Day, all teams are created equal. They may be of different colors and creeds, but deep down, they are all the same. So, you could have the New England Patriots go up against the Buffalo Bills and never really know who's going to come out ahead. It's about humanity, my friend. I think the reason to buy this is to make it an expansion to 1st and Goal. Match up the made-up teams with their prospective NFL equivalents and use the Game Day board and placards for the end zones.

Instead of saying this and first and goal are similar I would say that NFL Game Day outright coppied 1st's look/mechanics and slapped it's brand on it. Except they chose to make the game not as good. I get the feeling the designer thought "Eh, that's good enough" and that was all she wrote. Pass

This looks absolutely *horrible*. I realise it's a game rather than a simulation but why it's been dumbed down so far seems rather bizzare. If anyone is looking for a football simulation, try Second Season from Plaay.com, it is fantastic!

Huh...such an odd interpretation of football. I mean, the lines on the field have nothing to do with the real thing (where are the circles?!), the ball isn't even a ball, it's like this weird melon... Oh! And they even got the organization's name wrong! It's FIFA, ye doofuses! (And this, Tom, is how you offend football fans!)
