This game is awesome. I played today with my group, they have never heard about it before... and we ended up playing all night trying all the characters. We won only 1 time, but how fun was that!

Thanks Zee! I actually ran across this game at Barnes & Noble, and immediately jumped on youtube to see if the Dice Tower had reviewed it. Good timing! Seems like a simple co-op game. I certainly like having up to 7 players as an option. Not sure if this seems fun enough to hold my attention, but the art is certainly amazing.

Zee your tastes and mine are so in line and I love like 95% of the games you focus on. I'm a short length/small box gamer at heart and your reviews have brought so many games to my attention that I actually enjoy playing and don't give me a migraine to set up and teach! PREACH BROTHER! Just a couple things... 1. The spirit animal form of EVERY samurai in the game offers the player an improved version of their kiai power and thus it is somewhat important to be in animal form for the third round. 2. You never covered the consequences of supporting, passing and going over a samurai's kiai value.

When I was young and watched the black and white movie The Seven Samurai, I loved it, Then the western The Magnificent 7 came out based on the other movie it was fantastic. That's what this game is. It's like playing the 2 movies. Be the hero's and save the poor village. Awesome! Love this game, simple and fun. It can kick you in the butt, but it's worth it to attempt to save the village. It needs more love people buy it. Great job Zee, I hope this video helps sell the game more.

My friends and I have played this at least a dozen times and still haven't won. But we keep coming back!

This game does not get the love it deserves. There's a lot more going here than at first meets the eye. Between the powers of the individual Samurai, the decision to fight (defend), fight (confront), and support (especially considering what battle penalties your teammates may be subject to when their turn comes up) makes for a really engaging experience. Especially great value when I picked this up at Barnes & Noble on clearance for $15!

Thanks for the review Zee! And I agree, not as much love for this game as I would like to see. I'm curious as to how you feel this game stacks up against Ghost Stories. I own and love both (I like to play them in tandem; treating the village in Samurai as the same village in Ghost, makes for a fun story arc).

Just thinking, what would be pretty cool, is if you review a game that was mentioned in board game blender. Say, decided through votes maybe? Or just pick one that needs a more in depth look. There seem to be so many that I want to know more about!

I really like the aesthetic of this game. Beast mode has me sold, though.

It is a fun game but it is quite hard. Definitely a great one to bring out for your competitive friends who want a challenge

I seem to have differing opinions from everyone else. Ive picked up this game and looked at it a number of times now. It dosnt look like a bad game. That being said, I suppose Im something of a purist when it comes to Asian cultures, this game really tweaks my nose. It looks like they have taken Chinese and Japanese mythology and smashed them together in the most aberrant way. It would have been MUCH better if they had called it "Warriors of Wuxia" and only slightly altered the armour design. Plus, I think, it could have expanded the range of weapons the players wield. It may seem like a nit pick, but it really grinds my gears.
