I have to disagree a bit here. I like this a bit more than ticket to ride, because the decisions you have to make are a bit more interesting.

the reprint is because of it's 25years, here in Belgium it's printed as the Jubilee edition. I really like the game for its simplicity and will also never play without the hometowns again. It's just so much more fun. I also like my cubes over the cilinders, thos can be a pita sometimes. Still have to play Elfensea though.

I don't like Ticket to Ride (boring, no tension), but love Elfenroads!

I visualize that in the background Jason is cringing when Tom flips over the board and spills pieces and cards everywhere. :)

Looks good. I love these videos with Jason and Tom. How many versions of this game does Jason have in his collection?
@wroot_lt8 жыл бұрын
Wow, Jason not just owns full catalog of games on BGG, but he also know everything about every game! :) Still confused what exactly has been reviewed here :D

I'd have to disagree about this being replaced with Ticket to Ride. I don't really like TTR, but I like Elvenland. Also... while I like that they replaced the cylinders with cubes, the graphic design on this version isn't nearly as clear as the Rio Grande version.

Totally different storybook fantasy theme on Elfenroads than the train one on Ticket to Ride. And like was mentioned, this game also plays much different with the hometown variant where everyone tries to setup getting back home on roads other people may have placed, while getting rid of all one's own cubes and cylinders. Because I don't consider the theme and mechanics the same I'm going to say this game is still it's own fun much different from Ticket to Ride. I disagree that one's gotta be said better than the other. Ticket to Ride is NOT a reskinning of Elfenroads.

I totally agree with you.

Hmmm I played vanilla TTR then elfenroad + hometown variant of current printing, I much prefer the latter. Vanilla TTR gives you the bad feels when an opponent was lucky to secure important 5-cart tracks before you and the track belongs to your opponent forever.... at least you can still use the track they placed in elfenroads

Played this for the first time today. I really enjoyed it. The only reason I didn’t run out and buy it was because I have Fast Sloths, which is just similar enough and I would probably always pick that over this. But otherwise it’d be an easy purchase. I wish you would have covered what was different from the original Elfenroads, since somehow that wasn’t included among the 3 versions in the box I was hoping the expansions/versions would have won me over to buy it anyway, but it seems unlikely. Still, glad it was reprinted, and strong disagree that it is better done elsewhere by those other games by the same designer. That said, I do enjoy those other games.

+Jacob Engelbrecht Hmmm. I may be wrong about the game in question. However, the pooping donkey game is Los Mampfos and does have a BGG page and does look amazing!

+Chris Knight I think you are right actually, but that it is a Korean version Tom has, and the Asian writing is what threw me off.

I totally agree with Jason. The game got old. Are you guys ok with the wood pieces? Not sure is a re-print I would look forward.

Have there been any awesome games yet on the series? Good watch though.
@wroot_lt8 жыл бұрын
+Austin Riddle It seems that games are getting worse and worse in the series :) Although i think Grand Hotel Austria got good scores from them. Most games recently fall into that "Or not" category. But it is still fun, as Tom usually wouldn't review such games or would have different opinion than Jason.

Comparing Ticket to Ride to this reincarnation of Elfenland makes no sense. They are different games, developed for different types of players. The game is not outdated, it may be not as good as the best games we have today but it's still good and better than a lot of contemporary games that will give points doesn't matter what the player is doing (multiple paths to victory).

I want to buy this because it's gorgeous, fantasy-themed, and family-friendly, but I'm having trouble understanding how its fun. It seems pointless to me. I never played Ticket To Ride though (hate trains) so maybe I'm missing something...

I was expecting to know why this game is awesome, regarding to the name of the section. Why is this game in this section if you don't think it's that awesome? XD

+Funattic Channel Look at the title screen on the video: Every game is awesome (or not). Basically this is a eurogame review show, as I understand it.
@usmub8 жыл бұрын
+Funattic Channel The title refers to Jason's tendency to call almost every game awesome, regardless of how good it actually is. And there's the "or not" add on.

Why do you still own the game if you feel it is out-dated? Is this because you can't part with a game?

a boot? why would they choose a boot as character piece? Kind ofntakes away from the game to me.

+Ogreman222 en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Seven-league_boots My guess, it's a folklore/myth thing, given the elfy theme.

Because euros are lame and wood pieces suck. Use an elf mini from a D&D game or something. haha
