There is an alpaca farm near my house. My brother always goes wild with excitement when he sees them running about. This looks like a fun Christmas present idea for him

One rule mistake: 2 coins may substitute for any 1 crop token, and this can be any number of times (page 5 rulebook). (The Merchants do allow a 1 coin for 1 specific crop exchange). Those chunky tiles are simply fantastic! I love this game and would happily play any of PWH's trilogy: Bärenpark, Gingerbread House, and Llamaland - praise be!

This game sounds like fun, and I really like the theme. I'm a bit sad, though, that they went for the standard carcassonne colours instead of something brighter (like the Llamaland letters on the box). Given that this game is pretty abstract anyway, I think they could have made it work.

Wasn't on my radar as I already have all of Barenpark. But it does have llamas....

Imo, this is way better than barenpark. So much more decision and variety.

LOVE LOVE THIS GAME, I do love most Phil Walker Harding Games. Can be played with my family (kids of 9 + 14 play) which is a major selling point.

Agreed! It’s charming and complements Bärenpark and Gingerbread House. Enjoy!

Have you played CamelUp? Is this better?
@jasondunham57802 жыл бұрын
@@Beepbopboop19 I have both, but very different game types...Camel up is one of our favorite 'silly' racing games...this is a tile placement game that challenges spatial reasoning (for kids esp....and me LOL). Both are great...Lllamaland gets played far more often at our house.

@@jasondunham5780 thank you, sounds like Lamaland is a winner for me. Thanks!

This is a very good game! Tiles are so weirdly shaped that no choice is obvious and you have nearly endless possibilities. Plus, you know, llamas grazing on the altipiano! 😉

Could this replace patchwork for me? I really love the polyomino playstyle but Patchwork didn't quite impress me or my wife like I thought it would..

More decision and variety than patchwork.

It looks like it suffers from exactly the same problem that Gingerbread House had - the tiles slide around on top of each other really easily, which is a disaster for clumsy players like many kids who would otherwise love the game. We had too many times playing Gingerbread House where one of the kids would reach across the table mid-game, accidentally knock their tile setup, and have no idea where everything was to put it back together and the game had to be abandoned. I noticed even Tom knocked his tiles out of alignment at a couple of points in this video.

its actually not that bad, probably just extra slippery being brand new. Aside from that super fun game
@TheDarkever2 жыл бұрын
Actually the tiles stay surprisingly compact together. I manage to move a whole 5 level structure around the able with ease! Instead, be careful about llamas: if some joker blows strongly on the board, they'll all fall down into the cliffs 😃

I've played with my 7-year-old and it's never been an issue except for when little brother wants to help out.

Is Tom just saying everything is themeless now?

Nah, he said barenpark has a stronger theme

It is kinda themeless though
@TheDarkever2 жыл бұрын
I actually really enjoy the theme. Sure, there's no story, but at the end you'll have a nice altipiano full of llamas... which is exactly the game name! 😊

@@StyxTBuferd I mean, it's not abstract...where do we draw the line?
