Wow! Love the excitement. I'm kinda "eh" on the Amazon show (too violent at times, but the drama is great), but this looks great. I'm not a huge co-op fan, but do like them at times. I would have loved to have seen a discussion on this compared to Marvel United (less complex?) and Marvel Champions (more complex?). Do I need to add this to my collection (I have both of those others)?

I think The Boys was amazing, Invincible was even better. I'm excited to try this, but I'm hoping it's more Orleans and United than the dire (no pun intended) Quacks.

Played the first scenario last night and it was def too easy. We even inadvertently triggered the hard mode on the events. Busted a couple of times early on but my partner was able to save me and then we steamrolled. Nevertheless, had a great time and looking forward to scenario 2. Quacks was too long and a luckfest.

You should have done what happens at every beginn of an episode: Cut the sentence where someone says Invincible. Maybe not at the start of the review but at the end it would have been great. Besides that a great review and an interesting game but i guess this will be a US only thing and unfortunately won't come to europe.

The theme was what drew me into this as the show is fantastic, but yes incredibly violent so I don't think that anyone on the Dice Tower is going to watch it really! But making this a "kids" level game and just Quacks of Quedlinburg/Marvel United mechanics?..............that's pulled me right out.

That's an interesting take, and i agree. Unfortunately, the boardgame industry still requires games to be much tamer and family friendly in order to appeal to a larger audience, and also to the people who might not know the original show even. That's why we've been seeing so many games with personified animals these days regardless of what the theme of the game is 😅.

I dont really get the love of marvel united. Its so simple it gets repetitive fast and feels like setup is as long as the game. Id see it as a solid 8 but the 9+ ratings always surprise me. That part turned me off this game a lot

It sounded more like they had watched just a few episodes. Marvel United was pretty dull yeah, so far this is pretty good from solo plays but I think 9 is pushing it.

There is a difference between simultaneous gameplay and real-time. The designer of this game said he doesn't like real-time so... That one was unnecessary negativity.

I don't get it. I only saw the first season of the show, but to me it is basically a deconstruction of superhero stories. How does this match a fun, cooperative fighting game? Chris literally said "It feels heroic". To me this is the opposite of what the show is about.

Not at all, the comic and show are very much teenage superhero coming of age stories played perfectly straight. It skips some common tropes like all the drama of secret identities, and there's a lot more blood than you'd see in a saturday morning cartoon, but that's more nods for an audience who've grown up with Superman and Spiderman and how Mark is different.

Sure, but its not like there's never been a hero who starts off because a family member betrays them before. Mark reacts to it by basically vowing to become a better hero.

Sure, if you only look at the plot points. Oh well, subtext is for cowards, as the saying goes. :)

This game isn't exactly exploring the deep subtext of the overarching story. I said it feels heroic because your actions feel heroic, the way it needs to feel when you're stopping an alien invasion in a scenario. -Chris
