Small correction: the warp ability allows one to teleport the same-colored character from anywhere to that warp. No need to already be on a warp to go to another warp.
@ddlhz7 жыл бұрын
That's why we called them VORTEXES and not TELEPORTS which implies to go from one teleport to another one. On the other hand, nobody knows exactly how works a vortex…

Glad to see that you all seem to be interested in Magic Maze. The production of English copies will end on week #19, and then they will take the boat to the US, to be available through PSI on the end of June. It's coming, be patient!

I picked this up a few weeks ago and we've had so much fun with it. We've played it at 2 and 5 players and have already hit 25 plays. Once you pass scenario 7, you vary the difficulty by adding fewer or more tiles to the stack (that is the 17 to 24 columns on the Book of Challenges that Tom showed) and/or pick a higher scenario which just add slight rule quirks. We've yet to beat it with all the tiles but having fun trying! The use of vortexes (teleporters) was described slightly incorrectly. The person with the vortex ability can move any pawn to any vortex of that pawn's color, regardless of the starting location. Great review of a great game.

Played this for the first time tonight. Took a year off me! So stressful but yes... bonkers fun. Our group loved it. Hello from Xian, China!

I saw a couple of reviews for this awhile back, and I've been so excited about it since then... this review makes me even more disappointed that it's not out yet! CoolStuff is the only place I can even find a listing for it so far. At this point I'll even be happy when I can lock in a pre-order.

I see one copy in my FLGS, need to pick this up. We often have 8-10 people. And i think we could just play in small teams in turns (4-5 on a team). FUSE was a success. As well as Brick Party, which uses a timer and simultaneous action.

We played this yesterday. Really a-maze-ing. I ordered my copy right after playing it. I can see my brother already getting seriously angry at everyone of us.

Hi Tom, would you put this game in the Gateway game category? I thought so and tried it with non-gamers but without succes. Just my father-in-law liked the game....
@StefanLopuszanski7 жыл бұрын
Heard mixed reviews of this. Maybe it just wasn't working for them, but they said it fell flat with their group. I think this is definitely something you have to "try" to see if it works. Captain Sona fell flat for a few people I know as well, although I've enjoyed my plays of it.

Moreover, as the game mechanics is very unusual, many people are make mistakes playing it, and because of that, they do not play to the right game. Which can't help to appreciate Magic Maze. We offen experience that fact: The game has been wrongly demoed on another booth, and then we have to fix that later, demoing then the right way.

Bought the game yesterday and can't find the rule about when to start the timer....Right from the start or once everyone is on his spot of the right color?? Game looks awesome but couldn't u have carved or printed the meeples?? The stickers don't look nice at all...think I'm going to paint them somehow 😅 Anyhooo great game!!
@ddlhz7 жыл бұрын
Page 3, right after the set up visual: Right from the start! About curving or printing the meeples, two issues: The price + The difficulty to propose a nice design without giving an easy way to cheat (place the face of the pawn towards to the way it has to go). But we are working on new meeples. But it will increase the price of the game…

How strict is the no talking, is it just no talking, or no gesturing as well I assume?

I bought it 2 weeks ago, and I absolutely LOVE this game. It is my favorite so far. I won the intro after 5 tries (with the first try just looking at it and not move a thing) and I was cheering like a 6 year old -In front of other people - only to realize afterwards that I cheated (not on purpose-I was using all pawns to explore in any color), so I won it (correctly) yesterday. I tried today to put the different colour exits, but noooo. Not ready yet. Still this game is a fun puzzle either you play it with friends or solo.

"Alpha Gamer" haha. I tend to inadvertently fall into this category in Forbidden Desert, TIME Stories, etc. I like how this takes that away.

Sounds good, looks meh though, I wish the graphics were better. One question how is turn order resolved?
@ddlhz7 жыл бұрын
No turn order: you play when you wish, when you feel it is needed, and as much as you want. Everybody can play simultaneously. You often need an unsuccessful first play to get familiar to the game because it breaks some gaming habits…

This is a great game to play, but not so much for the lessons it teaches young kids. Couldn't they have built the game around a different theme? :/
@GretSeat2 жыл бұрын
What does it teach kids? To be quiet and move pawns around a board? Do you actually think the theme is anywhere in this game? Or has NOTHING to do with the game
@NewTubeReviewer6 жыл бұрын
Going to be in the minority on this one, Tom. Hate to say it, because I love the guys at Sit Down!, but I did not like this game. When I play something I want to be able to talk. I like talking, and the rules of this game prevent me from doing so most of the time. Also, I don't like the red pawn. It offended my delicate sensitivities, and made me angry. Game components look and feel great, but this was not my cup of tea...
@Tr1pleOseveN6 жыл бұрын
Why can't they make a game like this but competitive instead?.....I don't do co-op therefore I'll never be able to enjoy this game.
