You guys need to make a top 10 list of best 'game night starters/enders'. Games like this, which are a bit lighter but still good fun for gamers. Downforce is on my radar now for sure, as I love Ave Caesar...:)

Definitely a step up or fifty from my copy of Daytona 500. I don't feel the need to purchase the game again, but extra race track packs would be nice, if compatible to older titles.

Interesting changes from the older version. The one I played had no betting and multiple laps. Seems like betting let's you do well even if your cars are not doing well.

How is it at different player counts? Is it better with 6 where each person has 1 car? It would seem (without playing it) that it might be odd at 4 and 5 where some players have multiple cars and others have 1.

It's actually really good at all player counts. The one it was weakest at was 2P, but Rob came up with a really neat rule set to deal with that, and it's great now. As a sign of our bona fides, we listed Stop Thief! at 2-4 even though you could technically play up to 6.

I saw another racing game using dice. In racing there is not as much random performance like in combat. So I like this game better necause dice does not make any sense.

I dont mean to poo poo on this game but I feel that a different opinion is needed just so everyone can make an informed decision. Me and my friends played this at the Dice Tower Con and in the one game we played the guy who won got NOTHING but Wild cards! So he won in a landslide in all 4 categories. After commenting on the fact that the game may be broken if a player gets a majority of wild cards during the setup a girl who was watching our game said "The exact same thing happened in our game!" This makes me think that you need to draft cards at the beginning to avoid a WILD CARD runaway winner. Hope this helps.

House rules to counteract this. Use dice. Let us say wildcard says 4. You can pick one of 2 options and declare it, before playing the card. * Option 1. Roll 1D6. That would be the number of spaces you move if it is 4 or below. If it rolls above the number, you move 1 space only. * Option 2. You roll 1D6. If you roll 3 or less your car goes off road for 2 cards. This one card and the next card that uses this car. So this card takes the car off road, the next takes it inside road but no moving forward. Think of jail in Monopoly or pit stop. Or if you roll 4 or more, you advance 6 spaces and you discard 2 cards with wildcard. You cannot use this move if you do not have 2 cards with wild cards. * If one player has no cards, shuffle all cards and give them to players. These rules discourage abuse of wild cards. And also it prevents depletion of cards. Do you like these rules? Option 2 is literally flipping a coin to go for pit stop. And if lucky it is a power up.

I’ll tell you what racing absolutely isn’t about: slow cars purposely clogging up the raceway. As a matter of fact, that will garner the slow drivers a penalty in most series.
