Tikal (Super Meeple) Review - with Zee Garcia

smolle I believe so! I spoke to the Super Meeple guy at Essen Spiel & he said it’s coming soon with nice upgrades like Mexica and Tikal.

Great game, excellent review (no plus for re-playability, though?). The stone temples of this new edition look cool, but I wonder if they might sometimes obstruct visibility of meeples standing behind them when they get higher. At any rate, the old version was already visually stunning and I'll be hanging on to mine.

I think Zee's graphics were in error. He said it was replayable, but the graphic did not.

I love this game (I have the older version) and I strongly recommend the variant for 2 and 3 players created by the Fort Worth Gamers.

I told Zee about the Mini-Tikal variant before but he had not tried it.

The variant created by the Fort Worth Gamers and the Mini-Tikal variant are different. I prefer the one created by the Fort Worth Gamers.

For 2 players I prefer Mini-Tikal (and if you look at likes, many others agree) for 3 players I do like the Fort Worth variant, but the guy who posted it, has serious issues when folks link to it and he can get nasty about it. :/

Zee it wasn't clear if you are saying a Meeple is required to be in a space to establish a camp or if you were saying it is allowed. To be precise it is allowed but not required.

Doma Agape This is the only rule that was changed for the new edition. It is now required to have a Meeple in the space to make a camp.

Tikal went from my 2nd favorite game in 2017 to my #1 favorite game of all time. I was enjoying it way too much for it to remain my #2. So I disagree with Zee on the wow/fun factor. It's just amazing to me, and I maintain a top 100! I also recommend the 2 player Mini-Tikal variant found on BGG. I am surprised Zee, who loves 2 player games, had not tried this, when I asked him about it a year ago. I think the original game looks better with everything, except the plastic temples, which do look awesome. If I had my way, I would only swap them out.

I think I like original version better, except for meeples in this one - sure, temples look really nice, but I have a feeling they block view quite a bit after level 5 or so. Also, pity they haven't included rules for some of the shorter variants that community came up with over years.

I pronounce it with "call" as in "I will call you". Not "cal" as in California. But I have no idea which is correct.

I think you have too many action points. That feel a bit dated for me. In wish they had streamlined the action point system.
