Knife tip - leave the root end of the onion in place, just halve or quarter it with the root intact. It'll hold the onion together while you're dicing it.

Quick questions: Does the mayo act up with the lemon juice if you keep it in the fridge? Is it safer just to add the lemon just before serving, or does it even make a difference? Am I just being paranoid? How long can one keep it in the fridge? I'm thinking 2 days max(?). This salad is delicous, by the way. The Dijon really makes it kick.

Albacore is $4-$5 a can where I live. Regular tuna is $1 a can! A jar of Primal Kitchen Mayo is $10. After I buy the mayo, I can't afford the albacore on my food budget. This tastes great any way you make it. I sometimes toss in a chopped hard boiled egg to add flavor, texture & a few extra macros. Then I top it off with TJ's chili lime spice & wrap it in a red lettuce leaf. Yum.

Dont drain the water and especially the olive oil in the sink drain (oil can lead to plumbing issues). Best to drain it in a bag
@jb67122 жыл бұрын
It would take years for the oil to lead to any plumbing issues. But to help prevent fruit flies from finding one's kitchen, yes, draining the liquids into a paper towel-lined resealable bag would be best. The bag can then be closed tight and put in the trash, and won't leak because the paper towels soaked up the liquid.

Looks real good,, but I do not perceive the fat to carbohydrate/protein ratio as relevant to keto. Maybe I'm wrong. Can you supply and estimate of the calories from fat, protein, carbohydrates? Maybe a higher fat fish (tuna is extremely low in fat and high in protein) such as salmon would help achieve better ratios?
@SMoggyinski4 жыл бұрын
I made pretty much exactly this recipe today (except without dill and lemon), but I used wholegrain mustard, EV olive oil and balsamic vinegar, instead of mayo .. it was delicious! (I'm not actually on a Keto diet as such, but I'm assuming those substituted ingredients would be okay, even if I was?)
@jb67122 жыл бұрын
Whatever makes you happy, actually, if you're not on the keto plan. No sense questioning what would be right since you're not on it, so just enjoy what you made (I'm not Joe, obviously, but I am on keto, and yes, those ingredients would be fine on keto).

I am not sure why they washed it through the 50's-70's but when I make anything with canned-tuna I always wash it first & foremost 🐟
