Hagerty do seem to be targeting these new type of upcoming channels from ex Motortrend staff. Being a Aussie I lost my Motortrend streaming 2 years ago so the more content from guys like Dave, Tony, Fred and even David Newbern who looks to have gone out alone, the better. Australia’s cable channel Foxtel do show some Motortrend shows, but it’s 10 year old content:(

I remember replacing the rear main seal in my Late Dads 1969 Jeep CJ-5. We had to lay on the driveway to do it. The new seal came with a wire that had a gripper thing on one end that the "instructions" said just clamp the gripper to the seal and it will just slide out. Yeah right it took us two nights after supper to finally get the seal out and the new one in. I lost my Dad on Feb.15, 2019. Dad was not what you call a car guy but he was always all in on what ever I dragged home.

Some of those 4.0L motors have issues with loose rocker arms, it could be the miss you are hearing and the source of the noise. Loosening all the main caps and letting the crank drop a bit can help to remove the rear main seal. It appeared that the one you removed was in backwards.
@thedirtheadshed2 жыл бұрын
I checked torque on the arms.

I just did all this with my 97. You need loctite on the rear bearing cap. I used three Felpros seals and it poured oil...used a Mopar and it's finally dry. I replaced my oil pump and timing chain with Melling. Nice work!

@@thedirtheadshed Don't forget the loctite...the FSM specifies 518 but I've had luck using 971. I also lubed the bearings and new seals with engine assembly oil. My AX-15 transmission is leaking so I'm putting in a DEI tunnel heat and noise shield and probably going to wrap the exhaust from the headers to the CAT.

Unfortunately the 4.0L tends to suffer from piston slap due to short piston skirts. My 94 ZJ is noisy AF, but has great oil pressure and seems to run just fine at 204K miles. I've listened with a stethoscope to determine if a timing chain would help, and the front of the engine really seems quiet. I just put a Luk clutch set in earlier this year with a rear main seal and oil pan gasket. Been really happy with the Luk setup, so far.
