Good, concise explanation. Thank you. I just bought this on eBay for about a third of the list price :)

Have you ever played Duel in the Dark from Zman games? 1 player plays bomber command and the other plays the part of German Night Fighters. Only been able to get it to the table a few times but it is very interesting to play

I really liked the 1st Edition (TSR). Wonder if there are any significant changes? First Ed the models were all fighters which I think I like better as it hides what type of planes are in the group. Unless they have a work around. Also no problem with planes coming off stand or falling over. Glad they reprinted. It reminds me of Game Science's Battle of Britain (My 1st War Game) by Lou Zochi. Which I still like except for setup. This game really cleaned it up making it a cleaner & faster. Kinda like going from Advanced Squad Leader to Memoir 44. Anybody interested in Game Science's Battle of Britain (out Of Print) I can give you the Pros and Cons.

The planes are all uniform for each side. I think there are some variation, but it does not reflect what is in the squadron deck.

There aren't too many changes from the old TSR version. Some rules tweaks that improve the game a bit and the components are much nicer. There are new scenarios and rules variants as well. My old TSR version had all kinds of printing errors, squadron cards with backs misprinted etc, so this was a nice improvement.

Another great review!! I had the TSR version way back when, pretty fun game. You mentioned Battlecry...a game that deserved so much more support than it got from Hasbro. Great little gem of a game, the 150th AE was a nice touch, but a lot of unrealized potential there.

I actually gave my original copy of Battle Cry away to a friend when I moved to Texas. Missed it so much I bought the anniversary edition. Great game.

@@TheDiscriminatingGamer I actually like the revised edition of BattleCry better than the original version, they really did a great job fine tuning it, and the action deck is terrific now! 👍👍

I usually try to watch TDG even if I have zero interest in the game being discussed. It's just so I can hear the opening "The board game review show that..." joke. This one might have just killed that desire. What a stinker! (Just kidding, keep them coming!)

First, thanks for the review! Nice! Second...you are incorrect on the intercept combat. The RAF player randomly selects three squadrons from the German hand...they are not selected by the German player.

The Discriminating Gamer have you seen the recently uploaded rules on BGG? They are an attempt to make the game less fiddly, and more player-interactive. 🙂

I’ll stick with John Butterfield’s masterpiece “RAF 1940”. This little toy game is a waste of time and effort.
