The first little ceramic tree in the case is actually a cigarette lighter and ashtrays. I have one. The lighter is in the top of the tree and the layers separate into little ashtrays.

Just a note if you didn’t know, for something to be called “Antique” it needs to be a 100 years old or older😊 That’s the definition of the word antique. Otherwise, if the item is younger than a 100 years you can call it old/older or vintage. Great video, you found some amazing stuff!✨😃🛷🎄

In all fairness Max-Roos, to many of these younger collectors, anything older than their parents, even if their parents are in their mid/late 40s is considered "Antique" LOL. I get what you are saying though Max. A learning curve for the upcoming generation of collectors. :)

@@rustynailmendlesohn8710 I see people listing things on FB marketplace labeled antique and some I just laugh. I wish people would learn the difference between "vintage" and "antique". Also, many people assume that because it's old, it's valuable. That's certainly not the case either. 😎

I love my green ceramic Christmas trees my grandmother made for me and mom back in the 70's. My aunt had a ceramic shop and I have so many of the things that were made there. I'm still looking for an affordable vintage white tree but no luck so far. Amazon sells replacement lights, wiring kits and even the red birds. I had mom's tree rewired and replaced her bulbs that were lost. Some of our ceramics are dated on the bottom back to 1959 the year I was born. I really enjoyed your video

I have an old box of tinsel, I have 2 gurley candles, vintage deer, bottle brush trees, a set of putz houses, a tablecloth and a beautiful ceramic tree my dad made in the 1960’s. Many of these were in my parents house as I grew up.

I was thinking, the Popcorn Art, if anyone wanted to craft it, or do repairs, it could be EASILY done with the color glue sticks or paint, but Hot glue is perfect . Put the design put on parchment or even wax paper and it hardens as well as the original and its a great way to have the vintage look without vintage pricing. Just a thought. Ive done molds with hot glue and they actually work better than clay, by far New to your channel and Im binge watching!!! Been subbed for like 45 minutes and Im on my third upload, and LOVING it. Fun video, thank you for taking us along on your search for the top vintage Christmas items. Pretty certain none of your Santa mugs were vintage, except maybe one of the smaller ones you didn’t show picking up. Most vintage Santa mugs are marked Japan on the bottom, or have their original manufacture sticker (or sometimes in writing the name is on the bottom in the glaze, like Holt Howard, or a manufacturing number assigned--same with many vintage figurines that were originally sold in the 1950s/60s at places like Newberry’s and Woolworths). The more you learn, the more you will be able to identify the difference between vintage and reproduction. There is soooo much reproduction out there (and sometimes like that booth you loved, it doesn’t matter if you love it to decorate!) 🌸
@thedistressedprincessdiy Жыл бұрын
Thanks for the information! I’ll be looking for those markings now 💗

I'm vintage so a lot of this looked familiar to me. What I can tell you about the Gurley candles is that they originally came with a tag on the bottom with the word Gurley on it. That being said, it would be a little tougher to find that because it was like a thin cardboard-ish type thing that fell off easily. Not sure about some you seen, could be but the Santa in the bowl thing or whatever really looked like one. Curious to know if you got any of those cool finds? That Shabby table was so so cute & I enjoyed the whole video. The last place you went was such a pretty little setting, very nice, felt like I was right there with you.

There was so much I wanted to comment on... what was vintage what actually wasnt... the first individually packaged "Shiny Brites" technically are but they are new made by Rauche... the Santa and Mrs S&P with the dates of 40s 50s are actually 70s... the individual candles were most popular in the mid 60s and made into the 70s and then later recreated by Radko... if I could have just commented as it went along... 😅😅 certainly a lot of Christmas treasures...

There are a 1000 websites that tell you how to identify Shiny Brides and which are most valuable. Also just because something is "old" doesn't mean it's valuable, so don't buy something based solely on it being "old". Lots of luck with your searches, but I'd really suggest you doing a bit of homework before you go out or be ready to "google" while you're looking. Based on my non-expert knowledge I'd say some of those ornaments are probably shiny rites, most are not. Because they stopped production in the '60's it's likely if it's a SB, the colors will be a bit worn and not as BRIGHT as more recently made ornaments. Of course lots of manufacturers have tried to emulate the look of SB. I love almost all things Christmas vintage..except for some of the really tacky stuff that appeared in the 50s and early 60s. Some is alright, some...pretty bad. LOL Oh almost forgot. Gurley was a candle company in Buffalo NY. I loved the little choir singer candles we had when I was growing up. Those Thanksgiving candles of pilgrims were Burley's too. Most aren't super valuable but they are fun. You can check out current market prices (which usually are a range) What IS very collectible are the little elves/gnomes with pine cone bodies.

Sadly, your video is full of misinformation. You clearly do not know how to tell real vintage from repros as most of the things you pointed out were reproductions. You need to get a few books on vintage christmas, esp. Shiny Brites. Real Shiny Brites are CLEARLY marked Shiny Brite on the metal cap. Other manufacturers are also collectible. The Golden Glow of Christmas Past is the major group of Christmas collectors and very knowledgeable. It might "look" old but not be old.
