Gnomes are a European tradition, dates back hundreds of years ago. Mushrooms as well, very traditional for them, especially around the holidays. I didn't mind them, I used to make them. Not anymore. It gets tiring. It has become too much, overdone!! Ugh, I wish I was closer to an Ikea, so many fun things to see!! Thanks for taking us along 😊

The candles in the cylinder display is my favourite. The Vaughan Ikea was just starting to setup their Christmas displays on Monday. I will be returning soon to check them out! I love their wrapping paper. It really is great. Thanks for sharing!!! Made a wishlist!

Love the snow globe platter! I would definitely glue down the ornament and tree in the little bowl though, because I could never store it carefully enough to not mess it all up! 😂

Thanks for the tour. I think gnomes are adorable. I laugh every time I see one. I understand they have cultural origins in Scandinavia, where the gnome is a protector of the home. But I don't buy them because I'm a minimalist. And I know some folks are scared of them, as some are scared of clowns. To each their own. Great gift basket idea. I love practical gifts that are beautiful, too.

Girl!!! I really do not like the little old men, Gnomes. My family overheard me telling someone at our Thanksgiving day celebration. NOW, I kid you not the whole family gets me gnomes as gag gifts for Christmas along with my gift normal gift. It really is funny. This year, everyone at Christmas brunch, I am passing out gnomes for everyone!!!

Suggestion - you could make something to use instead of the expanding rack, for advent bags. Cut a tree shape out of 1/4" plywood, screw on wood pegs. Paint the tree green or white, I'd screw the pegs on from the back. Mini gift bags, could get from the dollar tree and cricket the numbers for them. I think the rack was my favorite also No ..I'm not a gnome person either. We have a family member whose name is Naomi and her nick name is gnomie. I wish we had an IKEA closer to my town, it's 50 miles round trip.

I think you have to grow up in certain parts of northern Europe for the gnomes. I like them, but I think its because they remind me of christmas markets and stories about christmas gnomes from childhood.

Christina, I live in New York and there are no close IKEAs, so I always order what I can. I really liked the red print duvet cover, I’m going to see if it’s available online. I love the simplicity of your pine cone candles in the cylinder vases, I’ll have to check to see if the candles are available on the US site. A belated Happy Thanksgiving and have a nice Christmas season.

Ikea has out-of-stock items about 60% of the time, so why have it displayed with a label, lol; I wouldn't waste my time in that store; that's why everything is so called cheaper; & their return line has people waiting in line from outside the store, lol.

Since IKEA is Swedish and the gnomes/nissar are Scandinavian, they are very much Christmas for us. IKEA simply puts out traditional Scandinavian decor in modern style

They are meant to be seen as an old homemade craft for celebrating Christmas. They're a traditional Yule decor and the traditional aspect of the gnomes ( nissar, tomtar ) gets lost when entering homes that are not familiar with the cultural meaning of the yule gnomes. They protect the house/land, takes care of the farm animals and brings luck, whilst also being a bit mischievous! This reason may be why thousands like them. But they are not toys for sure. IKEA is Swedish, thus they put out traditional Scandinavian decor items
