@@AaronStark1993 that is why I found my home in AA To be honest. Sure no one knows but who says they have to? I’m a medical marijuana patient in my state, I only smoke at night time now for the most part unless I have a completely off day (which is super rare now). And to be honest I think If it weren’t for my card right now I would be totally overworked and stressed 24/7. I am coming up on 5 months sober from opiates and it’s a great feeling. I was having a single beer with my meals for the first month of being clean but I decided to cut that out too as it was not even enjoyable and felt like I was choking a beer down just to finish it. I just went to an NA meeting yesterday and it wasn’t like they didn’t welcome me, but they were just all negative in their shares and swearing and just idk man. Like there were some people in NA that I’ve seen before and I know they have multiple years, yet they were still BITCHING about their everyday lives. So idk man, AA has been really pleasant and everyone is much calmer idk lmao. I am working the steps , I have a sponsor, I have a homegroup, I believe in God and I pray everyday. Just gotta keep on it. Once you learn all of these tools, if you go back out and use/drink, it was all your decision. Meaning there’s no more excuses left to pull out of my ass lmao 😭😭. If I relapse I am sure I’ll be lectured to hell and back. But I am doing everything in my power to keep relapse out of thought. And to be honest, it has been not terrible. Sure there are bad days at work that I come home and smoke and I feel like “well dang I wish I didn’t have to smoke to feel better right now” but then I remember that I’m a medical patient, and just like the people in the program who take Xanax for anxiety, or sleeping medicine everyday, I’m just taking my medicine. I wish marijuana was just federally legal 🥹

They are both correct in their respective fields. There is a gray scale in between both of their methods that have varying results. Adding another form of medication such as marijuana, as a form of withdrawal medication will not harm people. Doctors already prescribe Benzodiazepines and Valium for alcoholics, which are significantly much more addictive and dangerous. Why not add marijuana which is a less dangerous medication than the ones being used today? People should have the right to have more options, especially if it is less dangerous and has a less biological dependency.

Dude, I have friends who are vets and doctors and they've been smoking weed almost every night for years! For me personally, weed has helped me quit opioids and allowed me to finish my computer science degree. It basically saved my life. I use it in the form of homemade cannabis tea four times a week. On the other hand, I also have friends who are heavily dependant on weed and can't function without it. For these friends, they smoke weed all day every day with no breaks. So I think dependence to weed has to do with the amount you use. Moderation is key!
@JayJayvanriel3 жыл бұрын
Exactly, but not everyone can enjoy weed. And you could argue that you can use opioids with moderation too. Altho they will have more side effects than weed I think.
@ikirstenHD3 жыл бұрын
@@JayJayvanriel Don't make the assumption that you can use opioids in moderation. Well first I suppose we need to define moderation. This is hard to do because moderation is different for everyone. I started of using codeine once a week. After about a year of this frequency I was completely dependent! I would have it on Fridays and by Sunday I would be having debilitating mental withdrawals worsting each day unit the coming Friday. Keep in mind codeine is one of the weaker opioids. Well that's how my opioid problem started. Had I used codeine every 2 weeks would there have been a different outcome? idk. I've recently been using cannabis (0.25 grams OG kush tea) only once a week vs the four times as previously mentioned. I can tell you that at this frequency tolerance remains low and it does not negatively affect my mental health in any way. I have a friend who can't handle weed. She instead micro dosed lsd to help get off opioids.
@JayJayvanriel3 жыл бұрын
@@ikirstenHD Once a week is not a lot, and to have such negative side effects is quite a shock to me. But it would also depend on the dosage, and a full year is quite some time too. I think it the goal is to become completely independent from substances right? (For people who don't have any permanent illness) So you could argue, that you can just lower frequency of opioids untill you can quit. I can confirm weed is mentally addictive lol. Once i started consume it more then 3x/week I got a small urge to withstand. For me 2/3x per week is the max. With a 7 day break every few weeks too. Either way, If this is true I have no doubt weed (maybe lsd and mushrooms?) have less severe side effects. It's just sad there's such a little amount of studies done about it.

Marijuana may not be addictive in itself- but If you have an addictive personality it can still be an issue. Aka me, I've never been addicted to harder drugs and if I did I would probably be fine using it to avoid using the harder stuff. But I've smoked weed for 8 years and it's now a harmful addiction. It makes me tired and fuzzy and my brain isn't preforming at its best and I'm currently getting help to stop. And yet when I say this- it seems like people who are really pro weed insist there's no way you can become addicted and that I must be just using it wrong. I can assure you, I am addicted and while I absolutely think weed helps many people and I even support it being legal etc, I really do think that people forget that EVERYTHING has its cons and potential risks...and I wouldn't suggest someone who's never done any kind of drug use weed to try and solve their problems unless they've really looked at the possible side effects.
@pingu65962 жыл бұрын
It is addictive, but not harmful like other hard drugs, and as u said it depends on the personality. I'm a university student and I smoke everyday I light up one after another for the whole day and night, and when I have to go somewhere for few days and I know I can't smoke there I get a bit upset about that and worried about how I'll sleep and "have fun" but once I'm there.. I just don't think about it because I'm doing other things and I have my days packed. It's true that I can't wait to go back and smoke but it's not like I get in bad mood or be violent or smth. But I too have noticed the downsides of it like short term memory and sometimes it's just hard to speak 🤣 so I'm trying to smoke less and that means some nights it's gonna be hard to fall asleep but that's ok it'll get better!

I have ADHD, chronic anxiety and depression and OCD and I ruined my life with a myriad of drugs. The worst being alcohol. Only somebody that is alcohol free can look at the consumption of it as utterly disgusting like I do. The odd occasion, sure, but the fact that people drink themselves to sleep every night just scares me. Cannabis replaced alcohol, it replaced my SSRIs, it allowed me to lower my dosage of ADHD meds and I have never worked harder in my life since I started taking medicinal cannabis. My job is physical (I probably walk 30ks a day just at work), I go to the gym, I save MONEY - oh my god the feeling of having actual savings - And I do all of this stoned my friends. If you’re like me then you likely suffer from some kind of trauma and it’s my belief that weed is the best bet we have in the fight against personal psychological trauma. And if anyone were to ever try and take that away from me, I’d bet my life there are millions of people out there that agree when I say I’d go to war for that right. Don’t drink, it slows you down. That’s because traditional 12 step programs do not believe in the marijuana Maintenance . Alcoholics anonymous is a very good way to stay sober. It may be a little outdated but it works for 10 to 15% of people long-term…. when you say people aren’t changing anything about their life. I will say that you’re only speaking for a few people. I myself feel very productive when I smoke pot and I want to get work done, work out, cook, healthy food. Organize things in my house and budget…. It also gives me insight and introspection into my life and what areas I need to improve in. So for me, it’s very beneficial, but I understand what you’re saying because a lot of people are just smoking pot and then not doing anything to help their life. But I will inform you that there are people like me who benefit from it. I will also say that caffeine and nicotine are also mood alternating drugs that people aren’t talking about. It’s great that someone hasn’t drank in over four years, but they are smoking a pack a day and drinking too much caffeine and eating donuts and being unhealthy. Almost seems hypocritical.

I know MANY ppl who used heroin and then used weed to stop and have never touched heroin ever again, and now they have their kids back in their lives, they work, and their whole world is turned around for the better as a result of this medication. Because it works weed fills your same receptors to a smaller degree it doesn't stretch them like dope does that's why it's not addictive I can honestly say I probably wouldn't be clean if it wasn't for weed you smoke yourself into a stoner coma and it feels pretty good I notice the sweats don't bother me as much too being stoned and it helps the muscle cramps and shits and puking some people puke weed helps that too and when you're stoned you don't wanna do other drugs as much or at all

I would recommend marijuana to anyone with any type of addiction! If you're going to be addicted to something other than God; marijuana absolutely wins!
@itsgoodtobeclean Жыл бұрын
I believe the addiction goes way deeper than just the drug. Try complete abstinence and see what the drugs are covering up..then work on that part or just get high ✌️

Weed can be addictive actually. It's a stimulant; marijuana use disorder. If a person smokes marijuana daily, it can be a problem because their system would become dependent of it.
@DirtCheapMeals7 жыл бұрын
You're being sarcastic, which means you say it is addicting. Therefore, my response is: So? Weed isn't going to kill you. Alcohol, heroin, cocaine, methadone, nicotine, caffeine, opioids, ALL of those will kill you.

@stevezappa16422 жыл бұрын
Marijuana may not have a lethal dose (although I do wonder what would happen if someone binged on strong edibles for an hour while watching a movie), but it does increase the risk for heart attacks. Just speaking the truth. And I completely support the legalization. I smoked it for about 25 years, and I don't regret that.

yes.. I am a beliver in the use of herbs to treat this addiction.. but.. very controled..and it is usually best to do this with supervision.. the thing is. detoxing is one thing.. dealing with the emotional.. pycological side of addiction is a different matter.. attitude... behaviours. identities .. mindsets.. visions..purpose exc. all need to be worked on.. I would live to see a detox..rehab..with a work program to grow and eat a raw food diet.. to change the gut bacteria..and overcome the addiction to the foods we eat.. well.. I shouldn't call them foods.. but tea and coffee. sugar..salt are very addictive.. and the full feeling we get from eating these foods is addicting.

Not gonna lie the main reason why I haven't been in AA, like I should be is because ppl are so Gung ho about not smoking weed. They kept telling me that im not sober and I should get done, because of weed...I am a alcoholic, porn addiction, and now a new meth addict. I haven't even used a full year and meth has wrecked me. So to the AA nazis, fuck off imma smoke my weed and not drink or smoke meth. I talked to a sponsor and told him I came off a meth binge, he didn't even care and jumped on me for smoking weed, even though I told him beer and porn helped me start the vicious cycle again. I took like 2 hits of a joint when I was on that binge, not wanting it because I wanted meth. Weed= safe and good. Beer and meth= death.

the world wasn’t that different three year ago? or was it? cant understand why they’re taking such a one-sided stance on it, and even specifically searched for a medical professional who thinks cannabis is wrong 😂 they clearly made this segment to deter people from smoking weed. i actually think it’s undeniable that weed helps with addiction and is a better alternative

I should say we should legalize it picked up me off our mouth But my wife wasn't much lucky But she was trying to get off of Heroin Using cannabis and it was helping her But she died in the process due to other reasons When you get out of here we have one and to come home to a legalized state of course It was helping her in rehab But she got out because she didn't have access to it it should be legalized in all 50 States Because it should be classified it's a supplement for food because it's grown like food it's grown like lettuce So what's this count is the supplement and call equipment legal eyes at all Because it does help out drug addicts

It’s too bad that the other gentleman didn’t get to finish speaking what he wanted to say! Possibly, this might be a good approachFor people who have extreme addiction to hard drugs. Yet, I think only if they have a plan to eventually ween them off of marijuana at some point. It sure might beat methadone! I’ve seen many drug users just using that as another way to get high. Going day after day to the methadone clinics. And a lot of them still using heroin as well. Also, one of the problems I have with it, is that I have known and seen so many drug addicts and alcoholics that smoke pot as well. A lot of them started out by smoking pot. I’m concerned, especially from what a lot of them have told me, that it would be a gateway to take them right back to the hard addictions! It’s too bad that with all of the information that’s out there concerning drugs, and alcohol, that people still Play roulette with their lives and start in the first place!

I'm a recovering drug addict myself, have worked as a rehab counselor, and have met hundreds of addicts in recovery. It's not possible. All drug addicts have one thing in common. They're using a foreign substance to activate pleasure receptors in the brain. While the effects of different drugs vary, they're all the same at their core; chemicals that produce a high. Recovery isn't about getting off one specific drug so much as it is changing your life by training yourself to look for happiness without chemicals. Almost every time I've seen someone try to switch one drug for another, they go back to their original substance. Occasionally, they stay on the new substance, but they almost always use that one to extreme excess instead.

What would you recommend to someone that doesn't really have some sober activity to do? That individual is bored of work, their hobbies, and their pleasures (like tv or video games). Then if a person were to swap drugs, shouldn't the alternative be a healthier drug? Booze to Weed? Then work to get off of an easier non-physical dependent drug?
