The Dodo All of the dogs I've had since 1999 have been rescues. I've had sort of a special needs dogs house. Two of my dogs had just one eye when I adopted them. One little girl went blind in one eye. One dog was born with a short neck, and he had digestive issues. I have just one dog now....he has just one eye. I want a companion for him, and I am specifically looking for a special needs dog, but can't find one in my area. Do you work with rescue groups all over the US, or are you just state-specific?

The pit bull, when treated with love and kindness, have a unique affinity for the defenseless. Dog, cat, et.alia, and human as well. When my friends took me to the hospital about 35 miles away, I was in worse shape than I knew. La Rue, an adult female laid across my lap to comfort me the whole way there. (45 min) This was about 16 hours after first seeing me. I had a heart attack I was unaware of, but she knew I needed help. I calmed down and began to breathe a lot easier. She may well have saved my life. She and her brother are both rescues, adopted by two of the nicest folks I have ever know. It shows in both of these fine creatures.

I had a jack Russell that lost his rear right leg,,,He was such a go getter, and never skipped a beat,,,( cutest thing) His stump ( fantom leg)would wiggle when he had an itch,,I would say "itchy scratchy" and I would ,,as I promised him,,that I would scratch it whenever he needed it,,,,He lived 12yrs w/out his limb,,16yrs total. I LOVE AND MISS'UM,,,!!!I'm a DODO,fan and Pittie nation,,I adopted a very worthy and loving pibble from akill shelter,,, hes goofy and a knucklehead and fits right in,,,HAHA!!!

Tracy Frederick I foster and have been a fail twice. One was a kitten who almost died so we decided that we didn't even know if he would live a full life so we wanted to give him a great life. He's now almost a year old and is healthier than ever. His sister died suddenly so we will always be worried that it'll happen to him too. The other one was a mama cay who had mastitis when we had her. We only fostered her for 3 days before bringing her back to the shelter. She ended up not doing well at the shelter. Was sick for two months. Then she was up for adoption for almost 4 months. Not a single person even looked at her. We went to go figure out what was going on and they said she was mean and hissing and attacking people. So they didn't even want to show her to people. Well I sat down by her, reached my hand in the cage and she got up, rubbed on my hand and sat in my lap. The workers at the shelter were so amazed. They had never seen her act like that. I decided I had to take her home right there and then.

My neighbor has a Cane Corso. It had a back leg ampituated for cancer. She is so sweet. I was with her when a postal worker walked straight on the property he went to the mail box. I said wow you have no fear. He said I used to have this route a year ago. This dog knew good people. She her 3 legged beauty is still going hard. I miss my dog.
