Of course shitty people get dogs that are strong and has the "mean and badass dog" rep, of course it's more in the news since they're already so stigmatised and can do a LOT more damage than the little ankle biters that people don't even care to train, because no one gets seriously injured. It's so unfair. I swear, if they had fluffy fur that hid their physique, they wouldn't have the same rep. Criminals, addicts and dumb people that think it's cool to look dangerous with a mean dog, they wouldn't get them. They are such sweet, wonderful dogs when they're raised by competent and loving owners, it's no different from other dogs in that regard. Working with dogs I've seen so many other big dogs raised to be anxious and scared, they act just like all these "mean" pits people point out as representatives of the breed. It's never the dogs fault.

My Sonny boy was tossed into the trunk when the shelter told the people they would have to pay $10 to drop him off there and they threw him out onto the highway. He is the sweetest guy who loves to get cuddles and be in the middle of everything just like Bella and I still just cannot get it through my head why someone would treat my little fella that way.

I've never heard of a drop off fee at a shelter, but i would assume it would lead to very bad things. In no way is ten dollars a justification for tossing a dog onto the highway, but that shelter needs to recognize the danger that fee poses.

I raised my nephew, who is a fairly high functioning autist and has always had social anxiety. We always had dogs, cats, and birds while he was growing up and the amount of things they taught him that he was unlikely to learn otherwise is immeasurable. The absolute most invaluable thing that anyone will ever receive and learn from them is to be loved unconditionally. I can’t speak for everyone. But once I rescued my pit and saw how amazing they truly are, I don’t think I can rescue anything other than a pit. They are some of the sweetest creatures that have a horrible and unwarranted reputation. Fantastic with kids! My dog isn’t a fan of other animals, but that’s her and not her breed.
