That part reminds me of the time my hubby was packing the trunk of his grand am for a trip, and my gsd jumped into it. She would not get down, but she did lay down. @Alek Wolf Dogs will become lazy if you allow them to be. Dogs are breed specific and GSD's are working dogs, not only that but young dogs of all breeds are not meant to be "lazy" as activity is crucial to proper growth and strength and this boy looks young. Kelpies and cattle dogs are working breeds, activity is a trait to the breed. If you are going to buy a working breed to fill a spot in your backyard then of course you will encourage the dog to act outside its breed characteristic, but you will more than likely end up with a chewer and barker.

I look after/rehabilitate rescue dogs, specialising in abused dogs which are extremely nervous/nervous aggressive, which had to change to a degree when I started caring for my nan. As a passive presence who mostly just sat in her chair, drank tea and gave fusses to anyone who came to see her, there wasn't much concern about her scaring them, but she'd often fall while walking around due to being unsteady on her feet. My worst nightmare was that she'd fall while I was out and the shock and noise would cause the dogs to attack her, culminating in a 'pack frenzy' where they essentially ripped her apart (it's extremely uncommon, and my dogs are sweethearts, but you can never 100% rule it out as a possibility). More realistically, I was concerned that she'd fall and they'd think she was playing and end up hurting her (she was very, very frail at this point and her bones could easily be broken by a playful pounce). One day, I came home and she'd fallen while I was out and hit her head on the floor. The dogs were all sat around her protectively (literally encircling her) while the smallest of them gently washed the cut on her head. As opposed to the usual loud chaos that ensues when they see me coming home there was just a subdued look from all of them that seemed to say "Nanny fell, we looked after her but she needs help" as I rushed over, as soon as I was there they just dispersed like they knew I'd look after her, they'd done all they could and they'd just be in the way now. For the next few days I had the pride of a parent whose 3 year old manages to call an ambulance when their mum has a heart attack.

When I was a toddler our neighbors had a huge German Shepherd named Max and initially my parents were nervous about such a big dog around such a small child, but almost instantly he bonded to me. I don’t remember much because of how young I was, but I was told every time I was outside that dog would not let me out of his sight and would get defensive whenever anyone he didn’t know came over; standing between me and them, bristles raised, ready to keep me safe. He was an absolutely wonderful, gentle guardian angel who would have done anything to keep me out of danger and he wasn’t even our dog. My memories may be fuzzy of those early days, but I’ll never forget Max.

James Bootywolfe My only encounter with a German Shepherd was when one pinned me down and tore my Girl Scout sash in a game of tag in my best friend’s backyard; he probably perceived me as a threat since I was chasing after his owner, but regardless, I wouldn’t want to own one. Breeds that are protective by nature such as this one can turn aggressive if not socialized regularly, and I’d rather just be lazy and opt out for something safe like the Golden Retriever. :p
@rea82844 жыл бұрын
@@stormysavana2253 any dog will attack you if you pose a threat to their owner. moreover, I think, if your friend's dog was probably playing with you cause if he was really aggressive he would have simply bitten you smth, instead of tearing your saash away. Yes, @the Dodo, you can't expect the dog to know the difference. Use one-word commands, e.g. "Sit" for any sitting and "down" for getting off of anything. Keep it simple and consistent.

My grandparents got a German Shepherd when I was one. He was a puppy then and we instantly bonded. We practically grew up together, playing with each other and no matter what I did - pulling his fur, his tail, climbing all over him, just being a regular one-year-old - he never once growled at me. Even after he outgrew me in size and became this big, beautiful dog, he was always really gentle with me and I could do anything with him, he would let me. He was always very protective of me and he's the reason why I had (have) no fear of big dogs and why my favourite dog breed is the German Shepherd. He died of old age when he was twelve (I was thirteen), but he will always be in my heart. Rest in peace, my four-legged brother.

When my two oldest boys were just tiny toddlers, we got a full blooded Collie. A rescue dog. Those boys were rough and tough and she loved it. They were always all over her and she would just sit there, smiling. Found out that Collies don't bark in the house. Which was a problem since we got him as a dog that would alert us if someone got in the house. But was a herder and guardian. It never happened but I would have almost pitied the man or woman that made an alarming move towards the boys. I once saw her take down a full grown male dog, the ones with black tongues. He had a gang of local dogs that ran the neighborhood. But they always crossed the street and avoided our yard. Lady was her name and a lady she was, except when you threatened her boys.

I have an 11 year old GSD named Thor and a 9 year old son. The two are inseparable with the same type of relationship that your two have. My GSD has always been gentle as a lamb with my son and my son's greatest protector and attendant, like having a third parent really. As my son has aged, the relationship has grown with Thor always by my son's side, protecting and loving him. My two are almost as wonderful and beautiful as your two. The GSD is very intelligent. He totally understood that something was growing inside your belly's wife. He heard the baby making "noise" and moving before he was actualy born. That's why they have a strong relationship : they "communicated" before birth. I know that my theory is not accepted by a lot. But I lived the same experience than you did and than in this video.

There isn't a single day where dogs don't convince me they're the most wholesome creatures and legitimately our best friends. A dog's pure love stays pure from the moment they like you until the moment they pass away. This whole story is heartwarming. When my sister and I were born we had a dog looking like him as well his name was Lukas and he was a Shepherd he also took good care of us and when my sister and I were 2 Years old we got a second dog his name was Felix he was a Scottish terrier and they both became so good friends 2 each other they were like brothers and 2017 Felix died because of cancer and Lukas didn't wanted to live anymore without him and stopped eating not even other dogs or cats could make him feel good anymore so my parents decided to give him the time he needed. He recovered. But since he was so old he got really sick so he couldn't see anymore and one day he couldn't get up anymore and the next day he passed away. I got home from school and I was like : where is my dog? And I unterstood instant what had happened and broke down in tears. My sister was on a class trip that whole week and when she came back she saw a new box in our house and thought there are cookies in it but it was rlthe ashes of our dog so that's how she found out. I am sorry for the bad Englisch I am actually German so.. Anyways I am 18 years now having a new dog since 2 years today is her Birthday and a hamster who is also 2 but like 3 months older then my dog but when I think back of Felix and Lukas I am so grateful for every moment I spend with them cause they have teached me so much and I am sure If I didn't had a dog as a child I wouldn't understand that bound between pet and human and I am sure I would be a total different person. I hope you all take good care of your pets and I am sorry for this long story but the dog just reminded me of him and I was crying like this whole time I watched the Video and while I was writing this text cause He is still so important to me. He didn't hurt the dogs, just put his teeth on one of the necks and advised this dog it was in his best interest to leave the kids alone.
