Hazel the pregnant Dachshund was very timid when she first arrived at her foster mom's house, but after lots of patience and love, she came out of her shell! She delivered 7 adorable puppies, and now that they're all grown up, she loves to sprint around the yard and play with them.

Back in November I adopted a female mixed breed that had been used as a breeder at a puppy mill. She was rescued by a task force and ended up at the nearby shelter and no one had given her a home after a couple months. I couldn't say no, and four months later she's just about the sweetest dog I've ever seen. She follows me around all day and sleeps right by my side all night. Breaks my heart to imagine how many other great dogs like her aren't given a chance.

Yeah and they give people who breed working dogs a bad name puppy mills are terrible real breeders only have their females have two litters before retiring em from breeding permanantly. I've met a breeder who bred service dog candidates and his ladies were well cared for but people are so quick to slap puppy mill/backyard breeder on legitimate breeders who care about their dogs with those labels. It's a shame if puppy mills didn't exist we wouldn't have people getting villified for buying dogs instead of adopting. Like people got to understand breeding keeps breeds alive but only in the hands of responsible breeder who shells out thousands in gene testing vet visits and phenotyping to nake sure puppies won't turn out to be sick. Puppy mills promote only the sale of the dogs not health or temperament and thats what makes backyard breeders and puppy mills different from legitimate breeders who care about their animals
