There is no such thing as a hypoallergenic dog. The least bothersome are short haired because they shed less. This hairy pup is not in that category. Afghan Hounds are an exception as they only have one coat like people. They don't have that under coat to shed. So dad, you aren't doing your allergic daughter any favors here.

@@cheekypiper512 Actually, you are totally wrong. Allergic reactions to animals, such as dogs, is caused by their dander, not their hair. It makes absolutely no difference whether they are long or short haired dogs. Any dog that produces dander will cause an allergic reaction in certain people. The maltese doesn't have the type of fur that most dogs have, they have hair that is similar to people. They are perfect for children like this little girl. Shedding doesn't cause allergic reactions. It's the dander that you breathe in.

I'm severely allergic to a lot of different things. Trees, grass, molds, Animals like cats, horses, gunniepigs, birds and dogs. I went through taking allergy shots to atleast reduce the severity of my allergy. The shots went well, until I had a bad reaction to one and was put into the ICU (it's my asthma that's connected to the allergies, hence the hospitalization) I was on the shots for a long enough that my doc said my body would be able to handle most of what I'm allergic to. I'm able to play with dogs, but I'm still really allergic to cats and trees and some grass/molds. I now have a son who I unfortunately transfered my allergies to, he turned 8 this week and now I'm on my own journey to get my son a dog he and I can live with. I absolutely love this video, and it gives me hopes that I'll be able to do what this dad did and find a dog for my son.

If you go on the AKC website there is a section where it has all the breeds and you can filter by all hypoallergenic breeds. Hopefully this helps you find the perfect dog for you P.S you don't have to get a puppy I just think looking at all the breeds will help you find one in the shelter.

I am so happy that your family found a good puppy that your daughter isn't allergic to! It gives me hope. We adopted a whippet lab mix and found out 2 of our kids were allergic to her. The doctor told us that our son would start having breathing complications soon with allergy season coming up, so we worked quickly to find her a new forever family to be with, and she loves them dearly. We miss our Daisy, but she's happy, safe and loved.

@@rebekahg.8514 Yeah, I can see that too. But Maisie doesn’t seem to have any problem with it. Besides, they probably just sent in the footage of Violet and Chloe hanging out because this video was about Violet finally getting a dog despite being allergic. I’m sure Chloe hangs with Maisie a lot too. Also, dogs can love multiple people but still sort of favor one. Our dogs are like that. Sherlock, our older one, favors my brother a little more than me. While Clue, our younger one, favors me more. But both dogs still love our whole family a lot ☺️ And also, who knows? They could get the younger sister a dog in the future. If they were able to find Chloe, they can certainly find another one 🤗

This was the BEST ‘INTRODUCTION ‘ ADOPTION day I’ve ever watched only BC of Cloe’s immediate reaction & excitement to the girls right after entering the apartment & even after only hearing the girls voices that were filled with excitement themselves Cloe BAILED as fast as she could right to them as if she had always been a part of the family ! I am allergic to most dogs, so I can sympathise with this little girl. But I have found that I'm ok with a bichon frise. Their fur hardly sheds, and they are very lovable. But they do like company.

Watching the stories on the dodo gave me the encouragement to get another dog after my sweet girl passed after 16 faithful years. We ended up finding an abandoned dog that had been breed and left on side of road at under 2 years old. So sad. But now she has a happy home and she rescued us as much as we rescued her! Keep spreading the love DODO!

Oh that did my heart good! I feel that dogs (and or cats) and kids just go together and then after you've grown up with one...or a few you can't help but have them when you are an adult too! I am a huge dog lover. I can't have one right now. I live on the top floor of an apartment on a busy street and I work 8 hours a day 40 hours a week. So, at this point in my life I don't have a dog. I do however, have the most wonderful cats! I could feel the girl's excitement to get Chloe right off the screen! Ive felt the same way every time I adopted a dog or cat. What a wonderful family and with the addition of 4 paws now it is complete!

I'm allergic to dogs and when they first diagnosed me I was devastated, I had a big dog living in my house at the time, but she passed away shortly after. I still can't get over the diagnosis 7 years later and it hurts so bad not being able to get close to dogs without medication and not being able to have pets at all because of "prevention".

My Grandma was badly allergic to dogs then she got allergy pills so they could keep their dog. One day she stopped taking them and she had no effect.

@serendipidus1 Dog allergies sadly don't work the same way since it's a non-reversible genetic thing, I'm prone to have animal allergies due to my dna so I need to be careful with that. I hope it gets better with time though, I'm much better now than how I was 7 years ago bc of the limited exposure

Hi! As someone that has also dealt with genetic allergies, they really are making better and better medication. I have pretty bad allergies to pollen. There is a new type of medication, a pill, that my doctor recommended me. I would have to take it everyday for a few years, but after that my allergy would be completely gone. I don't know if this works on other types of allergies. But don't loose hope! Medicine is developing fast!

I have a malshi (Maltese mix shihzu) 😄 they're good dogs to have for those who're allergic to dogs as they don't really shed and if bathed regularly they don't produce pet dust. Yes her coat is kept short as we're not about the show coats that the breeds are normally shown in. To much hair to manage so a cute cut is appreciated. Poodles are another dog breed tho you'll be surprised with how high energy they are. As most don't know but poodles are in fact hunting dogs. (They look way better with short hair too😂)

One of the best dogs ever. Our family had to have a dog just like this as well. I ended up with a male Maltese, who was being abused in the home. He was the dog of a nurse, at our local hospital. That sweet baby changed our lives and our hearts 7 years ago, and still continues to do so. I had always bought from a breeder, but never again. It was as if he was made especially for us. On September 5, my birthday, 7 years ago, our sweet Willie, left that horrible life, and has never ever looked back since. He will always be loved, cherished, and appreciated until his last breath. Congratulations, from the absolute bottom of my heart.

Im nearly 13, and my whole life, ive been asking for one. I kept begging and begging, and then we moved to a rental home. the lease said no pets, so my parents said that i would get a dog after we go to our own home. Im waiting! my dad said 5 more months, and I cant wait!!!!! Edit: GOT MY DOG A COUPLE WEEKS AGO FORGOT TO EDIT THIS BUT I GOT ONEEEE shes a golden retriever mixed with a lab :)

I understand where this kiddo is coming from - my first best friend was my grandparents standard poodle, Petey Pup. We used to go looking for frogs together as soon as I could keep up with him. If a family can support having a pet with kids, get them. Animals and kids learn so much from each other. Just do the research before making such a decision!
