Jim's voice and lyrics, Ray on the organ, Robby on the guitar and John on the drums is just pure magic! These guys played their hearts out! Just pure talent.

Was also only ten when it was released and remember listening to it on my transistor radio. They played the edited short version on the radio, so I didn't know about the original longer version until several years later when I bought the album.

@@rev.jimjonesandthekool-aid4488 although I respect your opinion, I have to disagree as many songs from the early/mid 1970s were still psychedelic and/or had the psychedelic aesthetic such as Soft Machine, Harry Nilsson, Alan Hull, Jefferson Airplane and The Doors, as riders on the storm in my opinion is a psychedelic/bluesy masterpiece.

I gotta say the way Jim sings the last verse in this performance is terrific. The biting way he sings come on baby light my fire and the way he sings try to set the night on fire make this easily my favorite performance of the song for Jim.
