Given your experience with a bunch of VAG vehices etc, the handling and sportier suspension definitely deserves a mention. It is incredible for a hatchback in stock form. Manual is definitely the one too have but I wouldn't write of the DCT completely either.

I mean the dct makes sense if you want to lower the barrier for wanting to drive the car. Manual gives you social media bragging rights but with indian traffic you'll never want to drive the thing outside of a morning sunday drive when roads are clear or work which is mandatory.

If convience and speed are your priority then its better to get something like punch ev, sonet diesel auto,vw skoda's 1.0 AT

@ you can want a compromise between performance and practicality lol. Again a slightly jerky automatic in my opinion is better than doing gym with my left leg every evening drive home on weekdays. I agree the auto isn’t the greatest transmission in the world but saying there’s zero reason to get it over the manual is dumb imo. And how much was the difference between the auto and the manual? Couldn’t have been more than a second, you are never noticing that ever especially in day to day driving. You could buy some better tyres to make up the difference if it’s that big of a deal to you.

Id get a DCT personally. Been driving manuals for 14 years. Traffic jams today just take the fun out of manuals. DCT is a sweet spot IMO.

But you’ll have to drive slowly according to Hyundai though😂 On a more serious note, A CVT is the only proper option for the city. The DCT will overheat or cause issues in the long run. TCs, too much loss like we’ve seen in the Meridian, causing lousy mileage. AMTs too jerky. Manual is great for the highway.

I totally agree with you. I have driven both the Polo and the i20 nLine and all the sedans available under 25 lac. Out of the box the i20 nline is the most fun to drive car and the best car in terms of handling under 25 lac. I hope the 4th gen i20 includes the 1.5 gdi, a limited slip diff, 17 inch alloys and 5 star safety rating into the package just like the global N model and keeps the price at around 20 lacs.

I20 has the better engine & transmission, but I think altroz racer has better handling. This comment might upset some people here, but after driving both i can confirm that altroz racer is much more fun in the corners and its steering has a good feedback. Rest everything is substandard, specially the transmission. Although safety is top notch.

I agree with u 100 percent.....and performance of altroz is also good when we use ac...those extra 200cc makes difference in drivability...and i20 has one of the worst steering response in hot hatch segment...altroz has worst gearbox in hot hatch segment with non switchable traction control which adds salt to the wound in performance of altroz .....

When it comes to petrol performance hatchs ..neither we had much or if we had it was not unfinished ... The initial polo and Fabia 1.6 Mpi was a great allrounder ...the engine provided a great oomph compared to 3 cyl craps ... But it was far from being sporty.... At least in the stick form ... Gt tsi ... Was great but in its stock form it is tuned more for efficiency rather than outright performance... A manual gearbox setup could have been a great option but we never got it ...don't get me started on the the dq 200 (I think so )... I hated it ... Fiesta 1.6 s sedan was a gem ... Period ... It had the rawness and great torque lower down but was discontinued even b4 many knew it existed ... 1.5 Honda ivtec was the only na engine that was enthusiasts in its nature and live stontev past 6k ..but we never got only in Honda Jazz only in CVT format ... 1.6 moi from Suzuki was great too ... May be as not as much as Honda but it has its own character and was never really appreciated... Maruti never gave us a 1.6 swift Sport ..with that light weight and nimble chassis that could have been amazing .. Hyundai or Koreans in general wasn't great when it comes to NA performance petrol engine ... With forced induction ..they started becoming cool ... Not to mention genesis ... But 3 cylinder ...no matter how you try to put it ... Even with forced induction it can produce great figures and can be tuned and will be faster ...but it's not about numbers ... It's has to do with character too ...3 cylinder is so boring and the exhaust note and everything about it is just absurd and pushing it is only gona make it break soon and reliability will be out of the equation... So people praising 3 cylinder forced inductions should understand that the ones we get in India ain't a gr corolla.... I think is Indian enthusiasts are cursed that we never receive any thing that's phenomenal ... I wish we deserved a 1.6 petrol swift, 1.6 polo/Fabia,1.6 fiesta s should not have been discontinued . I haven't driven palio 1.6 ..so I have little to no knowledge... 1.4 in Abarth Punto was great in midrange and even when my cule got the lines 1.4 tjet back in 2010 ... many didn't know but the heavy weight of that vehicle was so high ...but a proper NA petrol engine ...idk ... Lancer engine was shit ...period it's not evolution lol

I had taken test drive of Hyundai Venue 1L Turbo with IMT and the shift lag in the IMT is absolutely horrible. It takes about a second or 2 to get into gear after shifting... that is just an absolute no no for any person used to driving a manual.

Atleast in the stock format dq 200 isn't a lightning fast upshifting gearbox ... Neither the sport mode gives you full manual control .... I would definitely prefer a 4 cylinder over 3 pot anyday ..but these modern 3 potsengines are freakishly fast and 1.2 more than a decade old at this point but could have been great with a manual gearbox that could have embarked us to use the power band how we want it to

Enthusiasts prefer manuals over an automatic any day ... Enthusiasts only make a very few percentage of the demographic and won't bring sales ... So car companies always favor the major demographic and dilute the performers as it brings more sales .... And for better track times ...robots have gotten better and can beat even an F1 driver .... As far as Indian car market .... No company can offer an advanced automatic transmission on performance cars like these at a great price ... Even DSG from VAG was using dq 200 that can't even handle more than 250 nm .... And most of them are dry clutch applications that wont go great with Indian stop and go traffic ....cvtsand Amt are still in 90s So if I were to get a performance hatch ...(I mean under 20 lk) I won't go for an automatic....

This has to be some promotional video or branded content. Hyundai never gets the ride and handling as the vw group. Its more to do with the platform and suspension tuning, Hyundai lacks stability which is really important when it comes to carrying speed and confidence where as the polo or any other car from vw backs the driver with immense confidence to push it more to its limits.

I am sorry but the interior and the exterior alike of this i20N IS HORRIFYING, when compared to elite i20. The elite i20 had an understated elegance, it had charm, and most importantly it had the best engine for its time with super tuneable diesel. IN MY HUMBLE OPINION I WOULD RATHER BUY 2019 MAKE I20 ASTA (0) CRDI AND TUNE IT TO MAKE 115 HP AND 260NM WITH A SIMPLE MILD TUNE VERSUS PURCHASING THIS ABOMINATION WHICH LOOKS LIKE A TOY.

If u have to put legend’s name on ur stupid car to make people recognise it than it’s already flopped 🤣🤣🤣🤣 I have seen so many hyundai fan pages on insta and their only reels getting high reach are ones in which they are taking vw cars name especially polo 😂 same goes for maruti fan pages 🤡 even maruti Suzuki had to use polo rally car to make their grand vitara famous that’s the level of polo it’s a benchmark where everyone wants to reach in india but they fails everytime 🤣🤣🤣
