This is a great idea to chase parts. Man you can cover a lot quickly, well done. It could get neat as you get better with "flying", and best yet 3 3rd gen F bodys. Thanks.

nice drone! I just pulled a LY6 6.0 from a 2009 short bus with only 19k miles!!!!. Surprised me to find a 4l80e behind it.... I thought it would have had a 6l90

I just found an LQ4 with a 4L80 behind it with only 49k miles from a plumbing van. Lowest mileage yet and I've probably pulled 25 LS engines to date.

Good proof of concept, JR. Now if you can train a robot to go in and play, "if it spins, it wins" and pull drivetrains, you'll have more time to create.

There is a very large, national salvage yard operator that uses drones regularly to audit, track, and analyze their yard inventory and configurations.

JD I have considered doing this for a really long time. Not so much for the idea of salvage yards but looking at places where they may have some old fields of "junkers" on private properties.

youre a genius for thinking of this. also I know you covered it in the video and are already discussing the legality of this in the comment section but keep in mind people have shot other people thinking that they are in the right when they are in fact not. so just be prepared for some dipshit to destroy your investment. right or wrong legal or not legal drones arent cheap and neither is trying to get someone to replace it through small claims court.

My understanding is that you need a pilots license to fly a drone depending on a bunch if criteria (like weight, type of use, locale etc). Also, people shoot at things that look like targets, whether legal or not.
@kcvance1974
@kcvance1974 23 күн бұрын
You only need a license if you are using the drone in a business situation. As long as you aren’t in a restricted area IE near an airport or something like that, and you’re under 400 feet, you’re good to go

According to the first amendment you can record anybody in public regardless of what they're doing and you don't have to worry about the stupid comments that come across KZbin because the first amendment covers Free speech as well

Like I said in your last video, they are harder to fly than they look, a couple months of flying a lot to figure out,I bought mine to carry bait when I'm fishing on the beach. Great video, happy trails.

Wow. All those garden tractors. Ever see any old allis tractors ? This is a great idea. Even to locate what you want. I had people call the cops on my for flying a drone. Running around my neighborhood yelling. People are really stupid. Mine was also shot at. Which is the same crime as trying yo shoot down a airplane. For all the dummies out there that dont understand how filling in public places works.

Yeah I forget they have a decent collection of garden tractors in there, I'll have to look next time I'm in there, as far as I remember the coolest stuff they have is some smaller John Deere stuff and newer Cub stuff

Cool idea and possibly useful but you still do need permission to video on or over private property. You are not just flying in the airspace, you are videoing their property. If they refuse to grant permission then, under current law they can have you arrested for trespassing. Don’t take my word for it please go look it up. As a former Ford employee I know that flying drones over test track property and taking pictures is not legal. It’s not a problem with airspace or accidentally catching another person in your camera. It’s all about the private property intrusion. And no they can’t just get out the shotgun and shoot you down legally but they can get you in trouble. So just ask the owner first.

I have looked it up, I can launch from public property and go over fly Romeo right now as long as I stay clear of the no fly zones

@@TheDrivewayEngineer Honestly I’m not just trying to be a YT hater. I think your intended purpose is interesting and one I had not seen before. But your video implies you can just buy a drone and fly it over some property and take video. And I’m not saying you didn’t have permission. For all I know you asked them prior. But there are all kinds of laws local, state and Federal laws that have to be complied with. Starting with the FAA, if your drone is between .55 lbs and 55 lbs it needs to be legally registered with the FAA. It’s a simple process but “legally” required. “No Fly Zones” are all over the place so some research is required when you enter a certain area or town. Another FAA reg requires you to only operate your drone while it’s in “Line of Sight”. So if the junk yard has a high privacy fence and you zoom down low to see more detail you could be flying illegal. And many more requirements like this. Again I’m not trying to argue or put your idea down. I found it interesting. I guess the easy way to show this on YT is to just do the typical disclaimer in your video telling people they have to follow the flying regulations and not do what you are doing without proper permissions. I hope this becomes a useful tool for you when parts hunting, but drones are so prevalent these days they are ever being regulated more and more.
