12:46 It's funny you say that, because Santa in the DC universe is not only _real,_ he's a certified badass. He braves the air defenses of Apokolips every year just to give Darkseid his well-deserved lump of coal. Dude basically infiltrates _Hell in planet form to give the New God of evil a lump of coal._

Fun fact: Christopher Reeve almost didn't get the Superman role because he was too skinny. He had to show up at the audition in bulky clothes to be taken seriously, and went on a training regime after getting the role.

Now I'm just imagining the unfortunate timeline where we DIDN'T get Reeve as the Man of Steel. Those poor bastards.

Peair had the right idea last weak that after Superman 2 & 3, to do Superman Returns, then Supergirl, and finally both versions of the Justice League movie.

From what I heard, Christopher Reeve used to go to the diner in costume while working on the Superman films. When he went dressed as Superman, he was swarmed by fans. When he went dressed as Clark Kent, nobody recognized him!

While the Movie is Over the Top Goofy and Bizarre, I will admit that it’s a Great Beginning for Superhero Films at the Time and I have to give Major Respect as it’s to many the Fine Print and the Grandfathers of all Superhero Movies and Captures the Spirit of the Man of Steel Perfectly.

When Lois says "Not a lot of people are comfortable with that word" ...Swell was basically a word that fell out of style. You usually hear this word from old rural America. It was popular around the 1920s-30s, but it started to fade out in later years. "Swell" means "Excellent" or "Good" ... like "It would be really swell if I could have that ice-pop, mister." It's basically the same as saying "That's cool" or "That's dope".
@filipvadas7602

One of the *main* reasons Man of Steel didn't work is that it depicted Superman as being emotionless, beyond humanity and a freaking Jesus figure. When he's supposed to be the EXACT opposite. He was raised on Earth, by good, down-to-earth people and because of that, he's a chill, down-to-earth guy who decided to use his godlike power for good simply because its the right thing to do. He still apsires to be a symbol, but never seems cold and unapproachable with Lois being the only one he shows any emotion towards. There's a reason people still consider this to be the closest to a true big screen depiction of Superman.
@calebgoodman3028
@calebgoodman3028 3 ай бұрын
As silly as the time travel is, considering what Superman does in timelines Lois does die it's better for humanity. I would definitely rewrite it though. Make it so Lois isn't dead but injured so badly she needs immediate medical attention. It would be so tense seeing him struggling with those emotions. Thinking she was dead, realizing there's a slim chance and the suspense of trying to save her and the relief of achieving it at the last minute.

You should do NC's Zack Snyder's Justice League after. (Actually watch the first JL review first). Also the intro is a parody of the 50s superman show. 7:18 also the reason they lit up was they were made out of a material that reflects the lights from the cameras. And they also had to be care with putting it on or else the effect would be ruined.

@@SilverHairedFreak25 The problem is that there's 2 types of chiropractors out there; the ones that believe that they can do anything and heal anything with a few clicks; and the actual *good* ones that understand they are basically a specialised masseuse, and know when and how to suggest people go to places that stops them from needing chiropractors. Personal experience; I'd say it's about 50/50 which one you get.

I don't get why Doug takes issue with how the actors pronounce Krypton. Like... when he talks about _The Simpsons,_ does he pronounce the "o" the same way he would in "not"? Like, "the simpsahns"? All this to say, reduced vowels are a thing in English.

In my opinion, the way I see it, Superman did NOT actually turn back time nor did he reverse the rotation of the Earth to achieve it. He actually time-traveled ON HIS OWN. Everything going in reverse was just visually showing him going back in time. According to "time travel experts", you need ENERGY to time travel. Superman used tons of energy to travel a few minutes into the past. He did NOT reverse the rotation of the Earth. Again, going by the logic of "time travel experts", this is what I believe happened.
@thehonestreviewer7754
@thehonestreviewer7754 3 ай бұрын
Except for the fact the movie literally shows Superman not only moving so fast to spin the Earth backwards, but when he reaches the point he wants, he then starts flying the opposite direction to to put the Earth back on its original rotation. Yes, I know time travel is not dictated by which way the Earth rotates, but what do you expect from a comic book movie from the 70s?

No Critic that's not correct cancel culture and consumer boycotts are 2 different things. To spite some overlap in concept when it comes to activism, cancel culture is more extreme than boycotting in that it attempts to silence corporate entities, celebrities, individuals and remove them entirely from society, desimating any future financial prospect while the goal of boycotting is to enact change within a company's practices. A boycott is an act of nonviolent, voluntary abstention from a product, person, organization, or country as an expression of protest. Which consumers can do by withholding their money. Companies are not entitled to consumer funds. Especially those that belittled, berate, demean, insult, and slander. Now more on canceling. Cancel culture also known as "call-out culture" started with metoo explosion of accusations by women from there it becoming a cultural phenomenon in which some who are deemed to have acted or spoken in an unacceptable manner are then ostracized socially, politically from professional circles-whether on social media or in person-with most high-profile incidents involving celebrities.

Imma piss off A LOT by saying this but @$$h○l€$ are why Man Of Steel "didn't work". See, many people were upset at Zack being chosen to direct that movie. Initially the reviews from critics and fans were very positive about his take on the man of steel. But since we were at the beginning of what many have termed at The cinema sins age We're quoting a film just for having plot and structure Tends to happen more often than not, the backlash started not long After the theatrical run of the film finished. Also, the production team was treating it like there wasn't 80 plus years of comics and movies up to that point.They were literally treating it like he was the very first superhero. Which for a deconstruction of Why we need heroes like him and The things that make Superman a Superman essentially, Those of us who appreciated the bold new vision really appreciated the deconstruction. However once the backlash started it Would build up to a flash point which Come a few years later with Batman v.Superman. Ironically Which had more studio interference and ended up garnering an even bigger backlash
