Another reason why Goku was so mad was that Krillin was already brought back with Earth's dragon balls so he can't be brought back again and Guru just died so Namek's dragon balls turned to stone, also Piccolo being shot implied Kami may have died again so no Earth dragon balls. In that moment, Goku thought there was no way to get his best friend back, and the pain of loss drove in over the edge.

During this arc, it was still not known to the main cast that the Namekian dragon can revive people that have already died more than once It was only revealed at the end when everyone is transported to Earth So at the moment everyone still thinks that Krillin is actually dead for good In the OG Chiaotzu have died twice and Tien even decided to stay with Chiaotzu in the afterlife and that was the moment it was revealed by the Namekians that their dragon can do it

What's super funny about the transformation is how iconic the anime made it compared to the literal page turn of Goku to just him with different hair. Toei literally had to bump up the power, scale and just amazing build up to Super Sayian, which has become a recognizable transformation in any media.

@2:38 No, the story there is that Sean Schemmel, the voice actor who plays Goku, passed out while recording a scream which did happen but it was actually during a scene in Dragon Ball GT due to him being sick with the flu at the time. A lot of people think it happened when he recorded the SS3 transformation because it was so epic but no, he's just that good. In fact Sean has listed that one as among his most favorite scenes.

Just a slight correction here, it wasn't because Toriyama didn't like colouring it. Toriyama's only assistant at the time, Takashi Matsuyama was the one who coloured in Goku's hair, so it wouldn't really change Toriyama's workload. He changed Goku's hair mainly because it saved time, and it had the added benifit of immediately telling the reader that Goku had gotten stronger.

Now you are witnessing 2 of the most well known things in ALL of anime at once. 1 is the Super Saiyan. There must be THOUSANDS of children that passed out trying to scream til they turned super saiyan. It’s referenced CONSTANTLY to this day EVERYWHERE. And why yellow? To conserve ink because Goku’s hair took a while to color in. The one and ONLY. As of now I believe there are 10 in dragon ball. And I STILL think it’s as much a legend as always. (Also I think the VA if he DID pass out, he passed out letting loose the SSJ3 scream. Which I think is 6 minutes of screaming. ICONIC screaming but A LOT OF IT.) 2nd most iconic thing? The LONGEST 5 MINUTES EVER. HOURS. Goku vs Freeza as whole is more than 4 HOURS. Sitting through the original Spirit Bomb vs Freeza is literal AGONY. These 5 minutes? I think it’s about an hour and a HALF. It gets to a point you just say, oh screw it, it’ll blow up when it’s ready. ABOUT A PLANET EXPLODING. Teamfourstar considered making this fight ACTUALLY 5 minutes, but they couldn’t think of any way to do it. BECAUSE ITS DEFINITELY NOT 5 MINUTES. XD every anime watcher still jokes about these 5 minutes to this day. Now I think Dragon ball is an absolute narrative disaster. Most of it drives me CRAZY. But there’s moments that leave SUCH a long lasting impact people are still talking about it 30 years later. This fight earns its keep. Still a narrative disaster. If it weren’t for the characters and the lore, I’d be asking why people STILL watch this show. But because of it, I don’t question it. Just…don’t revisit the Freeza saga. Trust me, it’s NOT worth it.

YES super Sayain one of the most iconic moments in Anime. Goku being dead serious is kinda scary but I’m glad they still threw in a few funny moments. Frieza was legitimately scared for his life here. Love the way Goku said I’m gonna break you like a KitKat bar. 😂. Kirby The reason Goku let frieza go 100% was really because he wanted to break him mentally. Goku did not do this because he wanted a fight, it's because Krillin can't be revived again because the dragon balls can only bring you back once. He wanted to make Fireza BLEED for all he's done. Goku said he was the greatest and bravest man he's ever known his entire life, and the last he deserved was to get killed horribly like that by Frieza's hands.

Something occurred to me: was very risky of Popo to specify 'worthless maggots' - if Shenron was in a foul-enough mood to be literal (assuming it was anyone else that summoned him), the only things that would be revived literally _would_ be maggots. No humans, no Namekians, no Saiyans... just literal maggots. And even if the 'maggots' part was overlooked, there would still be the 'worthless' part - so only the ones with the lowest power levels ever, and none of the leaders high up the totem pole (because they have worth).

Fun note: Toriyama apparently made Super Sayain blonde because Sayains all had black hair which meant Toriyama and his editors had to color in their hair every single time they drew them which is time consuming and annoying. However, manga is black and white so making him blonde removed that requirement and saved them a lot of time.

The transformation was approximately 3 minutes and 30 seconds though the scream was not that long as it would most certainly been filmed in multiple parts but with the fact that they probably needed to do multiple takes it most certainly would have made anyone light headed

Talking about hair... I just love how fluffy and airy and tastefully red Kirsten's is. Like... I could probably just play with it and admire it for hours, just really love how the light bounces off, making it kinda vibrant, but still somehow muted. I love it so much. ♥
