Fun Fact: Shock Troops of the Ice Barriers actually saw competetive play. It was sided during the height of Nekroz' power. You could destroy a Nekroz and search out another copy of Shock Troops which sounded good on paper but quickly fell out of favour.

@Nine_Tails137 Time Wizard shouldn't simply destroy monsters but age them (decreasing their stats, removing power-ups, maybe also negating their effects or making each monster's effects share a hard once per turn), with Thousand Dragon and Dark Sage being extra deck monsters that need to be brought out by aging your Baby Dragon or Dark Magician respectively, i. e. a kind of fusion monsters but more like the Masked HEROes.

Fun fact about Shock Troops of the Ice Barrier: the card did actually see a small amount of play as a side deck card in topping competitive decks when Nekroz was tier 0, because you could use the effect to get rid of a Nekroz monster summoned by Djinn, Releaser of Rituals, thus breaking the Djinn-lock, and at the same time search out another copy of Shock Troops to do it again next turn if necessary.

I think Sargasso Lighthouse was mostly a plot device in the anime to put an unfair field restriction for the protagonists and put a time limit on the duel. Since the starting LP was 4000 and duels tended to last past the 3rd turn back then, 500 dmg per turn & per summon (especially during an Xyz focused era) was a lot more significant

I remember when Shock Troops of the Ice Barrier was play as a side deck option against Nekroz. It would kill their Nekroz of Clausolas with Djinn Releaser of Rituals and give you a new Ice Barrier monster you could use to go into the Shaddoll water fusion, which really makes ritual summons hard for your opponents and is a huge swing.

Symbol of Friendship is a universal searcher and is somehow one of the worst searchers in the game. I understand this is in reference to Episode 1 of Duel Monsters, where Yugi used the metaphorical power of friendship to draw the final piece of Exodia when Kaiba had 3 Blue Eyes and wiped Yugi's board. That being said, real life is not an anime and the average duelist is not an anime protagonist, so this card is more of a meme/nostalgia card than anything.

i used to use toon table of contents in a fun heart of the underdog/skill drain water deck. With ALO, giga gagagigo, terrorking salmon, gagagigo, 7 colored fish etc lots of strong water beatsticks. Toon table would let me deck thin my spells out, and the best part was could even use Toon Aligator in an actual deck, thus allowing toon table of contents to actually deck thin 3 cards instead of 2. And toon alligator worked with heart of the underdog too so great synergy. Could use terraforming to deck thin further and get ALO out easily, thus with some draw spells you were much more likely to be able to abuse heart of the underdog after you deck thinned your spells a lot.

The worst part about shock troops is that ice barriers have a spell card that lets them search any ice barrier on activation so it's a bad searcher in an architype with one of the best kinds of searching effects in the game

Funny thing about Shock Troops, it actually did see very niche play during certain formats, when there were a lot of WATER boss monsters running around. You could use Shock Troops to get rid of it and add another copy of itself to use later if needed, or just for discard fodder. It's still a shit searcher for the archetype, especially since they literally have their own E-Call.

I can't think of any other YGO examples besides Berfomet for what its arms are like, but if you look up "Ulamog, the Ceaseless Hunger" from MtG you you'll see a version of what I _think_ Berfomet's arms are doing without them being covered in shadow.

Amazed that you didn't bring up how Card of the Soul is a great searcher in D/D/D decks in Duel Links. Easy search of Doom King Armageddon if I remember the name correctly.

When it comes to something like Berthomet the card was created when tribute summoning wasn’t a thing in the anime yet so to viewers it was a monster that can pull another to you’re hand. Giving two thirds of the combo needed for the fusion. By the time it came out in the real world and the tribute summon was a thing, it was a bit to late. Honestly make it level 4 and it be a decent card. Especially now a days with all the new fusion cards

1:50 Lol I pulled this card a few times from legacy packs in master duel. I use it to search Alba Zoa in Dogmatika ritual. Is it good? Not really no but I use it cause its funny and if the numbers ever align I could potentially search something else in my deck Also, In master duel, The effect to look at your deck actually allows you to see all the cards still in your deck on use which is kinda cool

Symbol of friendship would be usefull if you drew it going second in your first draw after your opponent makes a big board, wich is really consistent if you ask me

If you have 3 copies in your deck and none in your hand, you have about a 12% chance of drawing it. But you also have like a 30% of starting with one of those bricks in your hand

So this entire effect would have been perfectly acceptable if the card was Level 4, but not only does this 2000 ATK Level 5 specifically have to be Tribute Summoned to make a Token (which is not optional by the way, this is your life now!) but the card was made during the Synchro era so if you didn't destroy the Token during the turn you Summoned it, you gave your opponent a free level for a Synchro. I would also say you gave him a free Link Material but I'm gonna be level-headed and assume nobody has attempted to Summon this in the last five years. The single solitary upside of this card is that in case your opponent has a monster you can't run over, you can Summon Royal Knight and ram into the Coffin for 1000 damage but ironically you just put yourself into a coffin because you wasted resources on summoning ROYAL KNIGHT OF THE FUCKING ICE BAR-

That would have been too strong for back when it was printed, now a retrain that takes time wizard and DM as fusion mats and then searches a spell card now that would be something. It would prob need another condition at that point since generic spell search is an amazing effect

Sartorius Kumar and Bandit Keith both have skills in Duel Links that guarantee heads on a coin toss, but they don't make summoning Dark Sage that much easier. In Sartorius's case, your deck must have five or more cards with different names that require coin tosses. The Arcana Force archetype has a ton of these type of cards, but it doesn't sync well with Dark Sage, Dark Magician, or Time Wizard. You could probably run a DM deck with Bandit Keith - why?! - but in order to use Cheater's Coin, you need to have 1000+ LP more than your opponent and five or more cards in your hand, in which, you already have the upper hand.
