Probably the best target for Call of the Haunted was Jinzo. A 2400 beater that negated all traps. Both meaning that you didn't have to fear cards like Mirror Force and it negated your own Call of the Haunted. So even blowing up CotH would leave Jinzo on the field. Perhaps even better would be to use Giant Trunade and return CotH to your hand and use it again should anyone remove your Jinzo.

It's weird that one of the best cards in the history of Yugioh, simply lets you draw 2 cards. With all the powerful cards that have been released throughout the years Pot of Greed remains sealed away for years to come. Many cards have come around trying to imitate it, but PoG looks at them and goes, look at what it takes these other Pots to mimic a fraction of my power.

Ring of Destruction should 100% be on this list. Staples are cards that can be added to most decks and no one would bat an eye. Ring is one of the best removal cards in the format and a lot of games are decided by trying to set up or stay out of "Ring range". Decks that main 2-3 Royal Decrees would run Ring anyways because of how good it is. Gravekeeper's Spy is another card that is basically a staple at this point. Chaos Turbo uses it to thin out deck and walls out Blade Knights. Goat Control uses it for Zaborg tribute fodder. Warriors uses it hoping Turbo players NoC out their own Spies from their deck lol. Airknight Parshath stopped seeing play because of it. Zombyra & Mind Control are beginning to be used more and more because of it. Spy is actually format-warping if you think about it.

@@Petsinwinter2 I mean A: It’s generic, so that makes it harder to search, B: it shuffles itself into the deck after use, so it remains about as hard to find rather than go to the GY or be banished (Where you have cards that could more easily get or back to your hand), and C: You’d have to kinda build your deck around it AND predict what kind of deck your opponent will be running… Great for going against meta strategies, but blindsiding if your opponent decides to change it up a lot. Even the other 2 effects require some forethought: Sure, you can equip a monster you control easily, but WHAT good equip cards would be there be for any given context, or the spell/trap protection for just a mere 1-3 cards of the same name while your opponent might be going for a full board/hand/whatever wipe…. So yeah, they card IS as strong as you say, IF you put in the prep-work first.

@@ButFirstHeLitItOnFire A) it's generic, so it's able to slot into any deck. B) there are as many cards that'll recycle Quick-play spells from grave as there are ones that search them out from deck. Non-engine Spell cards are actually pretty difficult to recycle in general. Shuffling into the deck just means that you have the chance to draw it again. C) no, it's not a build around. This is a staple, through and through. Just that protection effect is enough for it to see play. That said, it searches any equip or any card that's mentioned in another card. You don't need it to do everything, just one or two very specific things. Just look at what normal spells and normal traps people are playing now because they can search them off Triple Tactics Thrust.

Note to the guest speaker; I appreciate them trying to match the original speaker's cadence more this time. What really hooked me to this channel was that the narration was clear and cadence was perfect (slow enough to be very clear, fast enough not to feel drawn out) I don't want to be mean, so I won't name any names, but usually what kinda turns me off when we have a guest speaker is their cadence. They're usually pretty clear, but Mr.Logs (I'm sorry, I forgot your actual handle) has really gotten that narrator cadence down, and it's hard to listen to anything else once you're so used to it. I played back during this format. And yeah, these are all pretty much in every deck. I think every deck I built (I played casually and had multiple decks to play with friends) had at least half of these. Cards that didn't make the cut were usually because they didn't mesh with the deck theme or strategy. My main deck probably had 7 of these cards. These were the powerhouse cards of the day. And you'd basically be an idiot not to play them.

For each box, there’s… ⚪️A Flip related effect… ⚪️A shared “Bodyguard” sort of effect where Faithful Magician can banish herself in place of the destruction/banishment of another card you control…. ⚪️And a pair of similar HOTP effects for each box that triggers should your opponent get rid of your cards with destruction or banishment, that help you regain the lost advantage or set up your GY.

If it wasn't because my favorite card is BLS I probably would ignore and probably hate this format and Tengu Plant as well. But I love chaos decks and thats why I enjoy this format. If you hate chaos, better avoid this format because you are going to see them in every deck

So why are Premature Burial and Snatch Steal still banned? Why is it that being Equip Spells makes them ban-worthy when their Normal Spell counterparts (Monster Reborn and Change of Heart) are unbanned?

I can't confirm with Snatch steal but if you are able to bounce premature burial you can keep using that card to special summon more monsters from your graveyard as long as you have enough LP.

Equip Spell cards have a lot of broken support compared to other spell cards due to the inherent disadvantages they have. This leads to any powerful equip spell being pretty busted as a result.
