A different type of journey. A land Becoming. Where magic is drawn from the land itself as neither good or evil but the drawing on the deep connection of harmony with the land and what IS. A time when good is not defined and evil cant be because of its non- existance. A search for communion between the mind and a concept that even legend has forgotten, but what we search for no longer understanding what we once had and for what we seek. A true masterpiece!

I'd just like to say that this album stands out to me from recent albums uploaded on this channel. Or maybe for much of dungeon synth as a whole. It feels like it already has a direction of what it is and where it is going. That's what I felt while listening to it. But then again that may be applied to almost every other great dungeon synth album.

I think the Arcanist making reference to Clarke Ashton Smith's Hyperborea short-stories. Smith was one of the "Weird Tales" writers, and a contemporary of Howard and Lovecraft.

AKA the Emperor of Dreams. He was frankly the strongest yet most underrated of the "Big Three" of Weird Tales, and I say this as a massive fan of Lovecraft and Howard. CAS was singular.

This is a super engaging album, start to finish. The genre-bending and genre-blending at work here is *so* well-done. I'll be recommending this one to friends who dig epic musical journeys, for sure. 🤘

I misclicked while dicking around with tabs and accidentally started this playing while playing Valheim. I was building a lodge in the Deep North at the time and I thought it was game music, which was concerning because I'd turned that off... So there I am on a cozy deck with a hot tub setting up decorative mead tankards in the middle of the night. Then this starts playing and I have a moment of panic as I turn and look out into the blizzard, over the desolate frozen wastes, beyond the light of my fires, and the mountains even beyond that, expecting SOMETHING to be moving out in the dark. I see nothing but the walkway up the mountain and the glows of castle fires down near the bay. Then I nearly shit myself when I catch sight of one of the winding branches of Yggdrasil in the sky, worming in and out of the clouds.

Very Tim Kirkwood-ish. Quick little tunes overlapping a bassy arpeggio and a synth, only to become part of the whole melody. Unexpectedly good.

I honestly wish all dungeon synth went in this direction. Too much of it is frankly a little boring. That this artist ALSO clearly reveres CAS is just way too sweet.
