I am in awe of the way Matt and Janni are involved with this huge project. Matt's forward thinking and fiberglassing skills are constantly supported by his zest and drive for perfection.. Further, as an ex videographer, I also pay special attention to the recording, framing, sound tracks and added narration..Janni is doing an outstanding job..Just pay attention to the different angles she position herself in to get these nice framed scenes.. Stepping back, scratching one’s head and rolling with the punches has kept me sane over the years when working on boats!. Both of you are doing a fantastic job, keep doing what you’re doing as you’re doing great. Projects that you dread tend to be easier in real life, it’s the ones that you don’t think about too much that bite you in the ass……..:D

The best advice I got when learning vacuum bagged composites was, “prepare it like a surgery”. Watching Matt’s work here, it’s the Harvard Medical School of plastics creation ;). Thankfully, what they’re not showing us is the relentless prep work! I’ll bet Matt spent 2-3 hours carefully measuring and cutting all the fabrics & consumable supplies that went into that ten minute video. Great prep work is key. And it’s also mind numbing. Duracell is getting operating room clean work here. Way to go!

Not sure why...but I too derive great satisfaction from seeing that project come together. The tricky balance of aesthetics, structural integrity and functionality can often go badly astray but you've nailed this one and we can see how the actual functional coamings will extend gracefully from these. They will both support critical running gear and add protection for crew while looking great! Well done mate! Cheers, from SY Miss Foxy in Singapore.

I have several observations. First I'm glad you fixed the "George step'😅. Second, I really like the way LaPawz stepped up and starred in the ad portion of the video. Next, I really appreciated the detailed part of how you install the mastic tape for the vacuum bag. I suspected it was done this way but now I understand it more completely. I also understand how Matt doesn't want the finished product to look like it was pieced together. The viewing from a distant ladder I suspect gives him the best view of the finished lines. Great video, thanks. 👍👍😁

The cabin side extensions look great, visually they seem to reduce the height of the new dog house. For hatch gaskets, I've had good luck with Steele Rubber products. They have a load of different profiles and stiffnesses. For windows I always use Diamond Sea Glaze, have had good luck with them making custom windows in different sizes.

all part of the process when changing shapes to suit the new requirements, its great fun, you do all the major jobs with success and then hit that wall when you need to blend a couple of the major components together, i do the same thing when designing houses, put all the rooms in with the functions required and then a brick wall appears and the whole thing looks naff i thought originally when you cut the old cabin off you might use that 'combing?' as a guide to extend the new dog house off (making it a little wider), i only suggest that as i thought leaving that bit stuck out might become a trip hazard when the boat is in heavier seas having to lean inward over the cabin when using the grabrail etc and then extend a new combing off the back of the dog house along side the cockpit to give a clean aesthetic look, but i still like what you've done personally i have learnt so much from you, layering soaked fibre on the melamine board and using plastic sheet to move from table to placement, great idea, i did have my own plan for doing corners and edges by using an L shaped piece of plastic, say cut from PVC guttering, again you can cover with plastic sheet, add multiple layers and then use the gutter to place into those awkward edges, ceilings, floors, walls - and a process of try and do

For the openings in the aft face of the coachroof, perhaps there are some top' opening hatches' which you can mount flush into the bulkead. This would allow them to be out of the way when open and not an intrusion to the interior. A 'partially open' setting would allow them to provide ventilation but keep the boat secure. It's a bit of work to make them flush, the benefit is that it would still be comfortable to sit with your back against them when closed and open. MJ Sailing have been making hatches flush on their catamaran build. Good to hear the inspector uses Nord VPN. I guess their extensive research and reports need protection from all sorts of prying eyes. Gathering and evaluating detailed information without the subjects knowledge is crucial. Sometimes a low web footprnt and rapid actions are essential too.

Don’t know if anyone else has mentioned this (haven’t read all of the comments) but I saw a cool opening window design in a similar location on a catamaran once where they had extended window sills on the bottom on both sides and the window was on a track and dropped down, like a pocket door. So when the window was slid down it created an open bar pass-through situation.
